This book was released on 1993 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Quantum Communications and Cryptography by : Alexander V. Sergienko
Download or read book Quantum Communications and Cryptography written by Alexander V. Sergienko and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All current methods of secure communication such as public-key cryptography can eventually be broken by faster computing. At the interface of physics and computer science lies a powerful solution for secure communications: quantum cryptography. Because eavesdropping changes the physical nature of the information, users in a quantum exchange can easily detect eavesdroppers. This allows for totally secure random key distribution, a central requirement for use of the one-time pad. Since the one-time pad is theoretically proven to be undecipherable, quantum cryptography is the key to perfect secrecy. Quantum Communications and Cryptography is the first comprehensive review of the past, present, and potential developments in this dynamic field. Leading expert contributors from around the world discuss the scientific foundations, experimental and theoretical developments, and cutting-edge technical and engineering advances in quantum communications and cryptography. The book describes the engineering principles and practical implementations in a real-world metropolitan network as well as physical principles and experimental results of such technologies as entanglement swapping and quantum teleportation. It also offers the first detailed treatment of quantum information processing with continuous variables. Technologies include both free-space and fiber-based communications systems along with the necessary protocols and information processing approaches. Bridging the gap between physics and engineering, Quantum Communications and Cryptography supplies a springboard for further developments and breakthroughs in this rapidly growing area.

Book Synopsis The Story of Crass by : George Berger
Download or read book The Story of Crass written by George Berger and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In-depth interviews with the main movers in the punk rock movement--Crass members Penny Rimbaud, Gee Vaucher, and Steve Ignorant--detail the face of the revolution founded by these radical thinkers and artists. When punk ruled the waves, Crass waived the rules by putting out their own records, films, and magazines and setting up a series of situationist pranks that were dutifully covered by the world's press. Not just another iconoclastic band, Crass was a musical, social, and political phenomenon: commune dwellers that were rarely photographed and remained contemptuous of conventional pop stardom. As detailed in this history, their members explored and finally exhausted the possibilities of punk-led anarchy. This definitive biography of the band not only gives backstage access to their lives, philosophies, and the movement that followed, but also to never-before-seen photographs and rare dialogues.

Book excerpt: Once treated as the absence of knowledge, ignorance today has become a highly influential topic in its own right, commanding growing attention across the natural and social sciences where a wide range of scholars have begun to explore the social life and political issues involved in the distribution and strategic use of not knowing. The field is growing fast and this handbook reflects this interdisciplinary field of study by drawing contributions from economics, sociology, history, philosophy, cultural studies, anthropology, feminist studies, and related fields in order to serve as a seminal guide to the political, legal and social uses of ignorance in social and political life. Book Synopsis Quantum Theory of Finite Systems by : Jean-Paul Blaizot
Download or read book Quantum Theory of Finite Systems written by Jean-Paul Blaizot and published by Mit Press. This book was released on 1986 with total page 657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive and pedagogical account of the various methods used in the quantum theory of finite systems, including molecular, atomic, nuclear, and particle phenomena. Covering both background material and advanced topics and including nearly 200 problems, Quantum Theory of Finite Systems has been designed to serve primarily as a text and will also prove useful as a reference in research. The first of the book's four parts introduces the basic mathematical apparatus: second quantization, canonical transformations, Wick theorems and the resulting diagram expansions, and oscillator models. The second part presents mean field approximations and the recently developed path integral methods for the quantization of collective modes. Part three develops perturbation theory in terms of both time-dependent Feynman diagrams and time-independent Goldstone diagrams. A fourth part discusses variational methods based on correlated wavefunctions, including spin correlations. The approximation schemes are formulated for fermions and bosons at eigher zero or non-zero temperature. Although the formalism developed applies to both finite and infinite systems, the book stresses those aspects of the theory that are specific to the description of finite systems. Thus special attention is given to mean field approximations, the ensuing broken symmetries, and the associated collective motions such as rotations. Conversely, some specific features of systems with infinite numbers of degrees of freedom (such as the thermodynamic limit, critical phenomena, and the elimination of ultraviolet divergencies) are deliberately omitted. Jean-Paul Blaizot and Georges Ripka are associated with the Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Saclay.
Book Synopsis Introduction to the Theory of Disordered Systems by : Ilʹi͡a Mikhaĭlovich Lifshit͡s
Download or read book Introduction to the Theory of Disordered Systems written by Ilʹi͡a Mikhaĭlovich Lifshit͡s and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1988-08-03 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focuses on an important aspect of this highly diversified area of condensed state physics: the one-body approximation in the theory of disordered systems. It describes the scope of problems within the framework of this approximation, its use in formulating several basic concepts, and its value in revealing many characteristic features of disordered systems. The book's main focus is on the density of states and the space-time correlation functions, and on their basic thermodynamic and kinetic characteristics. Among the many areas explored are the general properties of the one-body models frequently used and descriptions of selected one-dimensional problems, including closed dynamical equations; these are then used to thoroughly explore the density of states for several systems. In addition, some of the more complex characteristics of one-dimensional disordered systems are examined using the Fokkerr-Planck equations developed earlier in the text. Also includes a description of the general structure of concentration expansions, giving examples of simple applications.
