Book excerpt: Introduccion: En la actualidad es de gran importancia para cualquier organización poder estar a la vanguardia, máxime cuando existe unos mejores dotados, los cuales estarían más cerca del éxito, todo esto se debe a la globalización, la cual influye en la competitividad de las empresas. Por esta razón se debe iniciar con una tarea de planificar adecuadamente el desarollo del sector de las artes gráficas, partiendo de su realidad como de su rol frente al cambio social y las variadas expectativas que lo rodean. Hay que resaltar que hasta el momento ha existido el individualismo de las empresas, lo cual implica perder poder de negociación, liderzgo, falta de formalidad del gremio, falta de recursos económicos. Es por esto que la meta es promover el crecimiento y desarrollo económico de éste sector, asumiendo la importancia que tiene el concepto de empresarialidad como una estrategia para que este gremio adquiera más importancia en la región, y por lo tanto se puedan crear agremiaciones que sirvan de apoyo al desarrollo integral del sector. Con el presente documento se pretende dar a conocer algunos aspectos básicos que caraterizan el sector de las artes gráficas en la ciudad de Pereira, para poder llegar a dar algunas recomendaciones que puedan ayudar a su desarrollo. Para lograr este trabajo se acudió a las empresas del sector y se aplicó una encuesta y otras herramientas de investigación que permiten recolectar la información necesaria para realizar el respectivo análisis. Como recultado se presenta una radiografía de lo que es actualmente el sector de las artes gráficas, lo cual sirve como referente para los entes gubernamentales y/o privados que quieran centrar su atención a este gremio.
