El informe describe cómo la lectura, la escritura y la literatura es la asignatura que ocupa la mayor parte del currículo, especialmente en la educación primaria. Las matemáticas representan la segunda proporción más importante del tiempo de instrucción. Además del análisis comparativo, el informe también incluye diagramas nacionales que ilustran, por país y por asignatura, los datos recogidos de forma conjunta por las redes Eurydice y NESLI de la OCDE.
