Book excerpt: O presente trabalho teve por objetivo o estudo comparativo entre o plantio mecanizado e semi-mecanizado de cana-de-açúcar (Saccharum spp.). Os estudos foram conduzidos em área cedida pelo grupo COSAN (unidade Costa Pinto), no município de Piracicaba, SP, entre outubro de 2005 e outubro de 2006. Para tal, foi realizado um ensaio padronizado, onde, sob as mesmas condições de campo e utilizando a mesma variedade de mudas (SP 80-3280), foram efetuados os plantios mecanizado e semi-mecanizado. A densidade de plantio foi de 13,2 e 9,6 t.ha-1, para o plantio mecanizado e semi-mecanizado, respectivamente, sendo que o mecanizado apresentou menor número de falhas e conseqüentemente maior número de perfilhos. Por sua vez, o plantio mecanizado apresentou uma capacidade efetiva de 1,38 ha.h-1 e mostrou-se mais vantajoso economicamente, com um custo operacional efetivo estimado em 96,7 R$.ha-1, em comparação ao semi-mecanizado que apresentou valores da ordem de 216,2 R$.ha-1. Em relação à produtividade o plantio semimecanizado apresentou um resultado 1,5 t.ha-1 maior, porém este valor não difere estatisticamente do valor encontrado no semi-mecanizado. Conclui-se que o fracionamento dos colmos em rebolos do sistema mecanizado ocasiona a diminuição do número de gemas viáveis, o que contribui para um maior número de falhas de plantio, porém o custo operacional efetivo do plantio mecanizado é inferior ao semimecanizado. Já a maior densidade de mudas do plantio mecanizado não resultou em diminuição de falhas e conseqüentemente não melhorou a produtividade agrícola, mas contribuiu para um menor rendimento.

Os parâmetros biométricos da cultura, a avaliação dos custos operacionais e demanda energética das plantadoras são importantes para avaliação do desenvolvimento vegetativo da cana-de-açúcar, para adequação do custo de produção e escolha da fonte de potência. Assim o presente trabalho objetivou avaliar as diferenças entre os parâmetros biométricos de uma variedade de cana submetida ao plantio mecanizado e semimecanizado, além de analisar a demanda energética e o desempenho operacional em relação à mobilização do solo da plantadora de cana picada. Do mesmo modo avaliou a capacidade efetiva de uma plantadora de cana-de-açúcar picada, assim como o custo efetivo deste sistema, comparando com o custo efetivo do plantio convencional (semimecanizado). Concluiu-se que o plantio mecanizado causou maiores danos às gemas, reduzindo o número de gemas viáveis por metro de sulco e de perfilhos, aumentando a porcentagem de falhas de plantio, refletindo na redução significativa da produtividade agrícola. As variáveis, força de tração, potência na barra de tração, consumo horário e capacidade de campo efetiva foram diretamente proporcionais ao incremento da velocidade. Já a área e volume de solo mobilizado, e o consumo especifico operacional não sofreram variações significativas pelo aumento da velocidade. A capacidade efetiva mensurada foi de 1,11 ha h-1. O custo efetivo de plantio mecanizado, sem envolver custos anteriores (corte, carregamento e transporte de mudas até a área de plantio), mostrou-se altamente vantajoso quando comparado com o semimecanizado, que apresentou um custo total de 216, 24 R$ ha-1, comparado aos 121,00 R$ ha-1, ou seja, 56% a mais.

Book excerpt: Com o objetivo de estudar o plantio mecânico da cana-de-açúcar avaliando o desempenho operacional e econômico de uma plantadora de cana, foram realizados ensaios padronizados em condições de campo na Cosan - Costa Pinto, município de Piracicaba, SP, entre outubro de 2005 e outubro de 2006. A variedade de cana foi a SP 80-3280 de 11 meses e primeiro corte e, sob as mesmas condições de campo foram efetuados o plantio mecânico e o convencional (utilizado como testemunha). A densidade de plantio foi de 8,4 e 11,1 t ha1, para o plantio convencional e mecânico, respectivamente, sendo que o mecânico apresentou menor número de perfilhos e consequentemente um maior número de falhas. Falhas essas, que refletiram na produtividade agrícola, cujos resultados foram de 88,9 para o plantio convencional e de 77,4 t ha1, para o mecânico. Quanto à avaliação de desempenho operacional, a plantadora Santal PCP2 operou em velocidade de plantio de 5,5 km h1, exigindo esforço tratório médio de 3060 kgf, consumo efetivo de combustível de 37,80 L h1 e Capacidade Efetiva de 1,64 ha h1. Em termos de custos operacionais de plantio, foi, significativamente, mais vantajoso, com custo de R$ 77,60 ha1, em comparação ao plantio convencional que apresentou valores de R$ 216,20 ha1, o que representa uma redução da ordem de 64,1%, nos custos da operação, sem envolver custos anteriores (corte, carregamento e transporte de mudas até a área de plantio). Quanto aos aspectos agronômicos envolvidos, pode-se concluir que, os danos provocados pelo fracionamento dos colmos em rebolos, utilizados no plantio mecânico, reduz a quantidade de gemas viáveis, contribuindo para um menor perfilhamento, maior número de falha e menor produtividade apesar da maior densidade de mudas utilizada.

A colheita mecanizada é de extrema importância comomostra Ripoli e Paranhos (1987) por dois aspectos fundamentais; o primeiro devido a crescente dificuldade e encarecimento de mão-de-obra para o corte manual, e o segundo ao interesse na obtenção de aumentos nos desempenhos das operações decolheita, com sua conseqüente diminuição de custo. Atualmente fatores legais como o Decreto Federal nð 2.661 de 08 de julho de 1998 e Decreto do Estado de São Paulo nð 42.056 de 06 de agosto de 1997, abordando a proibição gradual da queima dacana-de-açúcar, tende a incrementar a mecanização da colheita desta cultura. A hipótese deste trabalho é que a variável velocidade de deslocamento, reflete nos desempenhos operacionais e econômicos, de colhedoras, sob mesmas condições de campo. Este trabalho avaliou o desempenho operacional e econômico de uma colhedora em canavial sem queima prévia. As determinações de campo foram realizadas em área da Usina Dabarra SIA, no município de Barra Bonita - SP, entre os dias 7 e 17 de julhode 1998, utilizando-se a variedade R8835089 em soqueira de 3ð corte, sem queima de pré-colheita. Pelos resultados obtidos, concluiu-se que a variável velocidade de deslocamento, tem influência no desempenho operacional e econômico, assim como ae.

Para tanto foram utilizadas as metodologias propostas por Ripoli (1986) e Molina Jr. (2000). O protótipo em questão foi o Phoenix CM500iʼ, fabricado pela empresa Motocanaʼ Ltda . Os testes foram realizados na Usina Costa Pinto, localizada no município de Piracicaba, interior de São Paulo, durante o mês de julho de 2.000. Foram determinados os seguintes parâmetros: Capacidade Efetiva de Corte (média de 398,27kN.h-1 ou 40,61t.h-1); Eficácia de Manipulação (média de 93,84%); Perdas (média de 6,59%, de canas não colhidas e/ou suas frações remanescentes na soqueira); Matéria Estranha média de 3,75% e Custo estimado de R$0,194.kN-1 (ou R$1,90.t-1) na Capacidade Efetiva de Corte, o que, se comparado ao custo de R$0,306.kN-1 (ou R$3,00.t-1) do corte manual representa uma redução de 36,6% no custo da operação. Book excerpt: In Brazil, sugarcane ethanol supplied, in 2009, 17.6 % of the energy for land transportation (excluding railroads)and about 55% of the total energy supplied by liquid fuel for Otto cycle engines. Besides the lower production costs ethanol produced from sugarcane in Brazil has another important advantage: in Central-South Brazil only 1 unit of fossil energy is used for each 8-9 units of energy produced by ethanol from sugarcane. Carbon emissions reduction also benefits from sugarcane ethanol: for each cubic meter of ethanol used as fuel, there is net saving of around 2 t CO2 not emitted to the atmosphere while, at the same time, no SO2 is emitted. Sugarcane was introduced in Brazil in 1532. The "Brazilian model" of producing concomitantly sugar and ethanol, brought important technical benefits and made possible an outstanding increase in the competitiveness in the international market for sugar and ethanol. Today about 50% of the sucrose of sugarcane produced in the country is directed to the production of sugar while another half is used to produce Ethanol. Industrial and academic R&D has helped to increase the productivity of ethanol steadily over the past 35 years, at a rate of 3.2% per year. Productivity gains implied savings of planted area by a factor of 2.6. In 2009/2010 the area planted with sugarcane for Ethanol production was 4.2 Mha, amounting to 1% of the total arable land available in Brazil. About 60% of the Ethanol produced in Brazil comes from the State of Sao Paulo, where the productivity is the highest (around 86 t/ha.year). Most of the recent expansion is happening in the center-west region of the country, in degraded pasture lands. The FAPESP Program for Research on Bioenergy, BIOEN, aims at articulating public and private R&D, using academic and industrial laboratories to advance and apply knowledge in fields related to ethanol production in Brazil. The BIOEN Program has a solid core for supporting academic exploratory research activities that will generate new knowledge and form scientists and professionals essential for advancing industry capacity in ethanol related technologies. On top of this, BIOEN includes partnerships with industry for cooperative R&D activities between industrial and academic laboratories, which are to be co-funded by FAPESP and industry.Federal agencies, such as CNPq, will also co-fund the research.
