Book Synopsis Ruling Dynasties of Independent India - Volume 2 by : Ravindra Padalkar
Download or read book Ruling Dynasties of Independent India - Volume 2 written by Ravindra Padalkar and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2021-02-14 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written to get an overall idea of “dynastic politics” in India. It is always kept in mind that a citizen of India should know more about the politicians who are in the Government and form policies, etc. to take the country in the proper direction, at the same time the book should be interesting. Wherever possible, family trees are shown as well as the assets of our politicians. It was natural to start with the Nehru Gandhi family, being one of the largest and long-ruling families at the helm of all affairs. Then State-wise, the families are chosen and the account is presented. Since the volume is huge, this book is in two volumes. States are chosen alphabetically. So, even if the Nehru Gandhi family is in Volume 1, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, etc. are in Volume 2. Early rulers in Indian history used to handover the throne to their sons and then to the next generations for generations to come until some larger event upset the process, mostly conspiracies by persons like very close aides of the king or a revolt. Similar lines were followed even during our democracy passing on the rule to the next generation, which gave rise to dynastic rule. Indian politics has witnessed a large spectrum of politicians from various fields. Initially, it consisted mainly of leaders from the field of law. But now, we find that we have eminent personalities from the sports field, actors, actresses, superstars from the silver screen; the literary field is no exception; we have writers, poets, and so on; economists find a special place in the political arena; politics does not shun even criminals or few dacoits who then turned to politics after their surrender. Businessmen, lings or we can say princes from princely states as Britishers decided to call them are also found here. We have the learned people in politics as well as the illiterate people (angutha chhaap) who learnt to sign only after assuming office on getting elected.

Book Synopsis Television in South Asia by : Binod C. Agrawal
Download or read book Television in South Asia written by Binod C. Agrawal and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Major debates center around "cultural and media imperialism" to determine whether South Asian cultural traditions are being engulfed by Euro-American transnational television. This study provides a South Asian perspective on issues relating to television broadcasting, program planning, and communication research and suggests that television has undergone an indigenous process of change. Globalization and economic liberalization have brought hundreds of private transnational satellite television channels including "Hinglish" and English to South Asia. The governments are taking a regulatory, rather than a controlling, role in framing media policy to promote a plural culture and equal opportunities for its visual expression. Television production so far has assumed a coherent South Asian civilization and consequently, emphasis has been placed on promoting cultural uniformity.

Bringing together prominent scholars who have shaped television studies in South Asia, as well as emerging scholars who address new topics, this book decisively positions television as a key site in the study of South Asian History and Culture. In doing so, it also positions the study of television in South Asia and the South Asian diaspora as crucial in the rethinking of global television history and opens up new directions for the future of television studies. Book Synopsis The A to Z of Australian Radio and Television by : Albert Moran
Download or read book The A to Z of Australian Radio and Television written by Albert Moran and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2009-08-04 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Australians have become increasingly visible outside of the country as speakers and actors in radio and television, their media moguls have frequently bought up foreign companies, and people around the world have been able to enjoy such Australian productions as The Flying Doctors, Neighbours, and Kath and Kim. The origins, early development, and later adaptations of radio and television show how Australia has gone from being a minor and rather parochial player to being a significant part of the international scene. The A to Z of Australian Radio and Television provides essential facts and information concerning the Australian radio and television industry. This is accomplished through the use of a chronology, an introductory essay, a bibliography, and hundreds of cross-referenced dictionary entries on directors, producers, writers, actors, television and radio series, and television and radio stations.
