Book excerpt: Is America still the greatest country on earth? How does God see it? In "America's Coming Judgment," Thomas J. Hughes examines the United States in the light of scripture. What he finds is ominous. In the Bible, God made promises to nations as well as to people. He rewards Godly behavior. But when a nation intentionally turns away from Him, when it harms the vulnerable, and when it mocks His standards of right and wrong, He promises another kind of response - judgment. Has America gone too far? Is there still hope? In this riveting volume, Thomas J Hughes explains the purposes of God's judgment, and how it applies to the United States.

Everyone knows it and can see it all around them - the fighting, the hatred, the moral decline, the corruption, the financial ramifications, & the emptiness. Unless something changes America is going to go the way of the dinosaur. The same thing happened to the nation of Israel. They were prosperous and dominant and there was no end to their influence, but then they began to turn away from God and ignored his commands and precepts. The nation of Israel has never been the same. America is in danger of the same thing happening to her that is of course unless.....

Book excerpt: The Novanian king has gathered an army in the north with the intent to make war upon the magi. He has exiled all three of his brothers. Andrew and Alexander fled to the Southlands, while Thomas escaped into the hostile northern highlands, the land of Novania’s ancient foe, the insectile Corodan. While Alexander prepares to face Colin’s army in the south, Andrew makes the perilous journey through Novania to seek Thomas’ whereabouts and offer what aid he can. Traveling at his side is Rynn, a powerful mage with the ability to manipulate and form ice. When they fail to locate Thomas after days of searching, Andrew is forced to seek the aid of the Corodan. He has a long and bloody history with their people, and was responsible for the death of their previous Hive-queen. Uncertain if the Corodan will cooperate, but faced with no other hope of locating his brother, he ventures into the heart of the Corodan lands. Without Thomas, the brothers have no hope of overthrowing Colin and his tyranny. Without Thomas, Novania will continue to execute innocent citizens simply for bearing the Mark of the Magi. Without Thomas, the kingdom will be lost.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New revelation of astonishing magnitude that you need now! America's destiny has passed the point of no return and is on a collision course with God's judgment. God declared AMERICA'S judgment 2,500 years ago, long before nationhood. Isaiah's prophecy remained hidden in misunderstanding, until now. In these pages, his message is clearly spoken for the people to whom it was originally addressed: the generation of AMERICANS alive today. A repeated, meddling national policy -- NOT society's debauchery, moral decay or abortion --brings upon the USA God's solemn judgment. Consecutive, escalating warnings were ignored by leaders; Never connecting them to their cause. The sentence has been declared: Execution follows -- a judgment of terror and death. Only a remnant survives -- in the end, certain Christians are missing. Prepare yourself: God told Isaiah of the event and showed him a chilling vision of the rest. You will learn: America's egregious error. The 21 years of warnings US leaders repeatedly ignored. Specific details of the timing. Graphic horror of the aftermath. God's secret escape plan. Identity of those who go into the millennium. Jaw dropping revelations race through these pages like a raging wildfire. This astonishing account of America's very near future is packed with crucial events that impact everyone alive. God has the world watching the event live!!! The EVENT is a sea change for the WORLD. A MUST READ for everyone!!! A message so impactful you will reread it. Time is of the essence!"

This phrase, so well known in the contemporary United States, invokes images of manic self-proclaimed prophets of doom standing on street corners shouting their warnings and predictions to amused or indifferent passers-by. However, such proclamations have long been a feature of the American cultural landscape, and were never exclusively the domain of wild-eyed fanatics. A Dream of Judgment Day describes the origins and development of American apocalypticism and millennialism from the beginnings of English colonization of North America in the early 1600s through the formation of the United States and its travails in the nineteenth century. It explores the reasons why varieties of millennialism are an essential component of American exceptionalism, and focuses upon the nation's early history to better establish how millennialism and apocalypticism are the keys to understanding early American history and religious identity. This sweeping history of eschatological thought in early America encompasses not just traditional and non-traditional Christian beliefs in the end of the world, but also how American Indians and African Americans have likewise been influenced by, and expressed, those beliefs in unique ways"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2004 Washington State Book Award Finalist Judgment without Trial reveals that long before the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. government began making plans for the eventual internment and later incarceration of the Japanese American population. Tetsuden Kashima uses newly obtained records to trace this process back to the 1920s, when a nascent imprisonment organization was developed to prepare for a possible war with Japan, and follows it in detail through the war years. Along with coverage of the well-known incarceration camps, the author discusses the less familiar and very different experiences of people of Japanese descent in the Justice and War Departments internment camps that held internees from the continental U.S. and from Alaska, Hawaii, and Latin America. Utilizing extracts from diaries, contemporary sources, official communications, and interviews, Kashima brings an array of personalities to life on the pages of his book those whose unbiased assessments of Americas Japanese ancestry population were discounted or ignored, those whose works and actions were based on misinformed fears and racial animosities, those who tried to remedy the inequities of the system, and, by no means least, the prisoners themselves. Kashimas interest in this episode began with his own unanswered questions about his fathers wartime experiences. From this very personal motivation, he has produced a panoramic and detailed picture without rhetoric and emotionalism and supported at every step by documented fact of a government that failed to protect a group of people for whom it had forcibly assumed total responsibility.

Book excerpt: Why does Apostasy + Idolatry = Judgment? What is God's Heart about Judgment? Do you mean that God still judges today? What does the Bible say about the end of times? What has America done to bring judgment from God? Why is God bringing judgment? What are some prophetic words about the judgment? What is my role as a Christian during this judgment? Dr. June examines the Bible about God's history with his judgments. Then she examines the church and the country on why God is bringing judgment now? The Lord revealed to Dr. June that the apostasy of the church and the idolatry within the church is bringing a great judgment to our country. Our land is even going to pay a price for our sins. This happened many times in the Bible. This is sobering times for our country and we must be honest with God about the condition of our hearts and the spiritual condition of the church. Dr. June will show you how we are about to embark upon the most perilous times in our country. Do not fear Bride; God prepared us for this. We must repent!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: George W. Bush has been branded the worst president in history and forced to endure accusations that he abused his power while presiding over a "lawless" administration. Stephen Knott, however, contends that Bush has been treated unfairly, especially by presidential historians and the media. He argues that from the beginning scholars abandoned any pretense at objectivity in their critiques and seemed unwilling to place Bush's actions into a broader historical context. In this provocative book, Knott offers a measured critique of the professoriate for its misuse of scholarship for partisan political purposes, a defense of the Hamiltonian perspective on the extent and use of executive power, and a rehabilitation of Bush's reputation from a national security viewpoint. He argues that Bush's conduct as chief executive was rooted in a tradition extending as far back as George Washington-not an "imperial presidency" but rather an activist one that energetically executed its constitutional prerogatives. Given that one of the main indictments of Bush focuses on his alleged abuse of presidential war power, Knott takes on academic critics like Sean Wilentz and Arthur Schlesinger Jr. and journalists like Charlie Savage to argue instead that Bush conducted the War on Terror in a manner faithful to the Framers' intent-that in situations involving national security he rightly assumed powers that neither Congress nor the courts can properly restrain. Knott further challenges Bush's detractors for having applied a relatively recent, revisionist understanding of the Constitution in arguing that Bush's actions were out of bounds. Ultimately, Knott makes a worthy case that, while Bush was not necessarily a great president, his national security policies were in keeping with the practices of America's most revered presidents and, for that reason alone, he deserves a second look by those who have condemned him to the ash heap of history. All readers interested in the presidency and in American history writ large will find Rush to Judgment a deftly argued, perhaps deeply unsettling, yet balanced account of the Bush presidency-and a clarion call for a reexamination of how scholars determine presidential greatness and failure.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the face of conflict and despair, we often console ourselves by saying that history will be the judge. Today’s oppressors may escape being held responsible for their crimes, but the future will condemn them. Those who stand up for progressive values are on the right side of history. As ideas once condemned to the dustbin of history—white supremacy, hypernationalism, even fascism—return to the world, threatening democratic institutions and values, can we still hold out hope that history will render its verdict? Joan Wallach Scott critically examines the belief that history will redeem us, revealing the implicit politics of appeals to the judgment of history. She argues that the notion of a linear, ever-improving direction of history hides the persistence of power structures and hinders the pursuit of alternative futures. This vision of necessary progress perpetuates the assumption that the nation-state is the culmination of history and the ultimate source for rectifying injustice. Scott considers the Nuremberg Tribunal and South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which claimed to carry out history’s judgment on Nazism and apartheid, and contrasts them with the movement for reparations for slavery in the United States. Advocates for reparations call into question a national history that has long ignored enslavement and its racist legacies. Only by this kind of critical questioning of the place of the nation-state as the final source of history’s judgment, this book shows, can we open up room for radically different conceptions of justice.
