Book Synopsis Fluidized-bed Coating with Plastics by : Plastics Technical Evaluation Center (U.S.)
Download or read book Fluidized-bed Coating with Plastics written by Plastics Technical Evaluation Center (U.S.) and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report on the relatively new field of fluidized-bed coating with plastics is intended to give military agencies and contractors a good idea of the possibilities and limitations of the technique. In the normal use of the process a metal part is heated to a temperature somewhat higher than the melting point of the resin powder with which it is to be coated. Upon immersion of the preheated metal part into a bed or bath of resin powder, usually kept at room temperature and fluidized by a current of air, the powder particles are fused onto the surface of the part. Postheating may or may not be necessary to smooth and/or cure the coating. This report has detailed information on 139 references, including 39 foreign and American patents. (Author).

Book Synopsis Water-Soluble Polymers by : N. Bikales
Download or read book Water-Soluble Polymers written by N. Bikales and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water-soluble polymers have been attracting increasing atten tion because of their utility in industrial applications of great current concern. Perhaps preeminent among these is their ability to flocculate suspended solids, e.g., wastes in municipal sew age-treatment plants or pulp in papermaking. other important appli cations are to aid in so-called secondary recovery of petroleum, to reduce turbulent friction of water, and as components of water-based finishes developed in response to environmental con straints. Some water-soluble polymers have shown interesting bio logic activity, which is being investigated further. This book is based on papers presented at a symposium held by the American Chemical Society, Division of Organic Coatings and Plastics Chemistry, in New York City on 30-31 August 1972. The large attendance and the favorable response of the audience con firmed not only our view of the importance of the field but also the need to bring these topics together. The chapters in this book are generally enlarged and more detailed, with more complete bibliographies, than the papers presented at the Symposium. They include not only the important applications described above, but also descriptions of new syntheses and characterization methods.
Book Synopsis Materials for Conservation by : C V Horie
Download or read book Materials for Conservation written by C V Horie and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials in Conservation is the definitive introduction to the properties of materials used in conservation. The continual struggle of conservators to ameliorate the deterioration of objects has led to increasing use of synthetic polymers. These materials are part of the sophisticated technology that has been developed to augment and often replace traditional materials and methods. Conservators therefore have a wider range of techniques available. However, they must be able to appreciate the potentials and pitfalls of any proposed technique. The first section explains physical and chemical properties which are important in the conservation process, i.e. application, ageing, reversal. The topics covered include molecular weight, glass transition temperature, solubility and solvents, polymerisation and degradation reactions. The second section provides a detailed consideration of the individual materials, current and obsolete, used in conservation, drawing out the factors relevant to their effects on objects. The conservation uses of each material are summarised and referenced to allow further study. In five appendices, the properties of the polymers, solvents and their interactions are tabulated, with a list of suppliers and conversion table of physical units. IUPAC and SI nomenclature is used throughout the book. In this second edition, this classic text is revised and updated to include modern materials such as cyclododecane, and current ideas on adhesion, consolidation and reversibility, making Materials in Conservation the definitive source of vital information in the field. This handy reference book should be on the bench of every conservator and available wherever objects, from steam engines to dried plants, are preserved.
Download or read book Electronic Materials Handbook written by and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1989-11-01 with total page 1234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 1: Packaging is an authoritative reference source of practical information for the design or process engineer who must make informed day-to-day decisions about the materials and processes of microelectronic packaging. Its 117 articles offer the collective knowledge, wisdom, and judgement of 407 microelectronics packaging experts-authors, co-authors, and reviewers-representing 192 companies, universities, laboratories, and other organizations. This is the inaugural volume of ASMAs all-new ElectronicMaterials Handbook series, designed to be the Metals Handbook of electronics technology. In over 65 years of publishing the Metals Handbook, ASM has developed a unique editorial method of compiling large technical reference books. ASMAs access to leading materials technology experts enables to organize these books on an industry consensus basis. Behind every article. Is an author who is a top expert in its specific subject area. This multi-author approach ensures the best, most timely information throughout. Individually selected panels of 5 and 6 peers review each article for technical accuracy, generic point of view, and completeness.Volumes in the Electronic Materials Handbook series are multidisciplinary, to reflect industry practice applied in integrating multiple technology disciplines necessary to any program in advanced electronics. Volume 1: Packaging focusing on the middle level of the electronics technology size spectrum, offers the greatest practical value to the largest and broadest group of users. Future volumes in the series will address topics on larger (integrated electronic assemblies) and smaller (semiconductor materials and devices) size levels.
