While mainstream studies tend to see information literacy as a technical and universal process, this book proposes a theoretical and methodological framework to study information literacy from a sociocultural perspective, highlighting the importance of the social and cultural contexts in which information literacy develops. Esta realidad requiere procesos que lleven a superar situaciones de desigualdad, especialmente a través de la formación de la ciudadanía en competencias informacionales y haciendo accesible el uso de la tecnología a todas las personas. Hay muchos ángulos y diferentes mecanismos desde los que analizar y actuar en el terreno de la inclusión digital, pero los autores de esta monografía defienden el protagonismo de las bibliotecas como factor clave de inclusión social. En la actualidad, la biblioteca, como institución que hace posible el libre acceso a la información, puede constituirse en protagonista en los procesos de inclusión digital y aprendizaje a lo largo de la vida y debe ejercer una labor fundamental en la compensación de desigualdades en el acceso a la tecnología. Formación y evaluación, temas centrales de este texto, son aspectos estratégicos que ayudan a la coordinación entre diferentes iniciativas y permiten afianzar resultados y contribuir a la transparencia de los procesos de inclusión digital. Los autores de este trabajo de investigación han elaborado un modelo formativo y evaluativo basado en competencias digitales, informacionales y sociales, especialmente diseñado para el aprendizaje permanente de los agentes comunitarios de salud en Brasil pero extrapolable a otros programas educativos especializados. Por ello, la carrera de Educación Básica, conocida como una disciplina que busca formar profesionales que contribuyan al desarrollo de una educación centrada en el estudiante y su proceso de aprendizaje, es indispensable que se relacionen entre sí para poder lograr los objetivos de ambos. Dentro del proceso de enseñanza de la carrera se debe contar con un buen programa de alfabetización informacional para que oriente de manera los estudiantes y futuros profesionales cuenten con una educación de calidad desde sus primeros niveles de estudio del tercer nivel.
