Ahlulbayt Organization (www.shia.es) is a registered Organization that operates and is sustained through collaborative efforts of volunteers in many countries around the world, and it welcomes your involvement and support. Its objectives are numerous, yet its main goal is to spread the truth about the Islamic faith in general and the Shi`a School of Thought in particular due to the latter being misrepresented, misunderstood and its tenets often assaulted by many ignorant folks, Muslims and non-Muslims. Organization's purpose is to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge through a global medium, the Internet, to locations where such resources are not commonly or easily accessible or are resented, resisted and fought! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of Bosnia's leading intellectuals explains the Bosnian experience by critiquing the politics and ideology that brought about the great destruction—both material and spiritual—of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These incisive and theologically profound essays address the confrontation between the West and Islam as the author explores the realm of humanity's long-standing search for the roots of evil in the dual nature of mankind to gain insight into ways of achieving peace. By drawing on the Bosnian situation, the author explores questions of identity and otherness, knowledge and transcendence, authority and authoritarianism, and tradition and fundamentalism, and he argues for a reconciliation between modernity and tradition for the benefit of modern coexistence, not just in his native land but throughout the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Following is the introduction of the author about the book: I was motivated to write this book because I saw that a large number of people gave themselves the title “Shia” without respecting this title or being aware of its rights. A sensible person is one who knows the value of that which he possesses, so he can honour it if it deserves to be honoured and he can treasure it if it deserves to be treasured, and he can protect it from anything that will ruin it. I intentionally collected the Ahadith that reveal the status of the Shia, the rewards and the honour that Allah has prepared for them in the highest levels of Paradise, and the status of the pious Imams in Allah’s eyes. Therefore, those who read this book will learn with certainty the value of a Shia, and thereby respect and honour this title and stay committed to their obligatory duties that they have as Shia. May those who benefit from the contents of this book increasingly pray for me. This book is entitled Bishāratul Muṣṭafā Le Shī'atil Murtaḍā (The Glad Tidings of Muṣṭafā for the Shia of Murtaḍā) and I have not included any Ḥadīth in it except the most authentic Aḥādith rom the most trusted scholars. I seek nothing but to please Allah and I ask nothing but the prayers of those who read this book. I desire nothing but to attain nearness to the best of the creation (the Messenger of Allah) and his purified family, the Imams of guidance. May Allah’s blessings be on them, to the extent of the number of every (grain of) sand and every stone. I ask Allah for piety and support, for He is the best supporter, who with His generosity, listens to prayers and grants them.

Book excerpt: In Gender and Succession in Medieval and Early Modern Islam: Bilateral Descent and the Legacy of Fatima, Alyssa Gabbay examines episodes in pre-modern Islamic history in which individuals or societies recognized descent from both men and women. Fatima, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, features prominently in this study, for her example constituted a striking precedent for acknowledging bilateral descent in both Sunni and Shi'i societies, with all of its ramifications for female inheritance, succession and identity. Covering a broad geographical and chronological swath, Gender and Succession in Medieval and Early Modern Islam presents alternative perspectives to patriarchal narratives, and breaks new ground in its focus upon how people conceived of family structures and bloodlines. In so doing, it builds upon a tradition of studies seeking to dispel monolithic understandings of Islam and Gender.

Book excerpt: This book contains one hundred narrations based on the chains of transmission that are accepted by the General Population, about the merits of the commander of the Believers, Ali b. Abī Ṭālib, and his sons, the Imams. This book specifically has had a great impact in the Muslim world because the author has carefully selected the sources from Sunni books, thereby eliminating any question of impartiality. Those who study the history of Islam find that occasionally, paid writers try to create doubt in the peoples’ hearts with their poisonous books. It is our scholars who fight them with precious and authentic publications, such as this one, which is void of any personal opinion. There are two editions of this book. The first is in the library of Āyatullāh Sayyid Muṣṭafā Al-Khūnsārī, and the second one is in the library of Āyatullāh Al-Mar'ashī Al-Najafī.

Book excerpt: Women's networks – their relations with other women, men, objects and place – were a source of power in various European and neighbouring regions throughout the Middle Ages. This interdisciplinary volume considers how women's networks, and particularly women's direct and indirect relationships to other women, constituted and shaped power from roughly 300 to 1700 AD. The essays in this collection juxtapose scholarship from the fields of archaeology, art history, literature, history and religious studies, drawing on a wide variety of source types. Their aim is to highlight not only the importance of networks in understanding medieval women's power but also the different ways these networks are represented in medieval sources and can be approached today. This volume reveals how women's networks were widespread and instrumental in shaping political, familial and spiritual legacies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Muslims need a passion for unity. All Muslims believe and follow the Quran and Prophet Mohammad and highly respect and admire Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib. Yet despite similar traditions, there is a lack of unity because of an inaccurate understanding of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talibs vision and mission among many Muslims. In Know and Follow the Straight Path: Finding Common Ground between Sunnis and Shias, author Tallal Alie Turfe, a champion of religious tolerance, explores the Quran and traditions to find the common ground and common principles between the Islamic schools of thought. He is a strong advocate of intrafaith dialogue that offers the chance for better understanding, collaboration, and partnership among all Muslims. This book is a road map for Muslims to trek the path of truth and certainty in the hope their efforts will lead to a genuine unity as they celebrate their differences as windows of opportunities. As they uproot ignorance with knowledge, they will learn to cooperate with each other. The pledge to unity must begin within themselves, within their families, within their communities, and with each other. Know and Follow the Straight Path: Finding Common Ground between Sunnis and Shias provides the whys and hows necessary to winning that unity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shi'i Islam, with its rich and extensive history, has played a crucial role in the evolution of Islam as both a major world religion and civilization. The prolific achievements of Shi?i theologians, philosophers and others are testament to the spiritual and intellectual wealth of this community. Yet Shi?i studies has unjustly remained a long-neglected field, despite the important contribution that Shi'ism has made to Islamic traditions. Only in recent decades, partially spurred by global interest in political events of the Middle East, have scholars made some significant contributions in this area. The Study of Shi'i Islam presents papers originally delivered at the first international colloquium dedicated exclusively to Shi'i studies, held in 2010 at The Institute of Ismaili Studies, London. Within the book are eight sections, namely, history, the Qur'an and its Shi'i interpretations, hadith, law, authority, theology, rites and rituals, and intellectual traditions and philosophy. Each section begins with an introduction contextualizing the aspects of studying Shi'i Islam particular to its theme, before going on to address topics such as the state of the field, methodology and tools, and the primary issues with which contemporary scholars of Shi'i studies are dealing. The scope and depth here covered makes this book of especial interest to researchers and students alike within the field of Islamic studies. The volume benefits from the diverse expertise of nearly 30 world-class scholars, including Mohammad-Ali Amir-Moezzi, Meir M. Bar-Asher, Farhad Daftary, Daniel De Smet, Gerald R. Hawting, Nader El-Bizri, Etan Kohlberg, Wilferd Madelung, Andrew Newman, Ismail K. Poonawala, Sabine Schmidtke and Paul E. Walker.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trade flowed across Eurasia, around the Indian Ocean, and over the Mediterranean for millennia, but in the early modern period, larger parts of the globe became connected through these established trade routes. Knowledge, embodied in various people, materials, texts, objects, and practices, also moved and came together along these routes in hubs of exchange where different social and cultural groups intersected and interacted. Entangled Itineraries traces this movement of knowledge across the Eurasian continent from the early years of the Common Era to the nineteenth century, following local goods, techniques, tools, and writings as they traveled and transformed into new material and intellectual objects and ways of knowing. Focusing on nonlinear trajectories of knowledge in motion, this volume follows itineraries that weaved in and out of busy, crowded cosmopolitan cities in China; in the trade hubs of Kucha and Malacca; and in centers of Arabic scholarship, such as Reyy and Baghdad, which resonated in Bursa, Assam, and even as far as southern France. Contributors explore the many ways in which materials, practices, and knowledge systems were transformed and codified as they converged, swelled, at times disappeared, and often reemerged anew.
