Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Note presents the high-level design document for air combat (engagement and attrition processes) for the theater-level or nonlinear combat (TLC/NLC) model and possibly, for the RAND Strategy Assessment System (RSAS). The design includes many qualitative factors not traditionally included in previous air combat models, such as a representation of how intelligence affects the frequency and distribution of specific types of air-to-air, ground-to-air, and air-to-ground engagements. The design is intended to be implemented as either a stochastic or a deterministic model, with either low resolution or high resolution, depending on the needs of the user. Thus, the model is being designed so that each version will be readily comparable given similar inputs. The document describes the three main parts of the overall air combat assessment process: (1) determine whether or not penetrators are detected before reaching in engagement zones; (2) determine the sequence of ground-to-air, air-to-air, and air-to-ground engagements; and (3) assess air-to-air, ground-to-air, and air to ground engagements in sequence determined for ingress and egress.

Book Synopsis Modeling Aircraft Attrition in the Air Defense Environment by : George D. Panagakos
Download or read book Modeling Aircraft Attrition in the Air Defense Environment written by George D. Panagakos and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents a high resolution, computer simulation model of aircraft attrition in the air defense environment. The model employs extensive pre-processing submodels and programs in order to efficiently examine tactical scenarios and reduce program execution time. The pre-processing outputs are loaded into a dynamic simulation submodel to analyze the aircraft/air defense engagement sequence. The overall simulation model is modular and can be easily modified to satisfy the user's particular analysis objectives. Keywords: Air Defense Modeling, Air Combat Modeling.

Book Synopsis Analysis of Special Operations Forces in Decision Aids by : Bruce Pirnie
Download or read book Analysis of Special Operations Forces in Decision Aids written by Bruce Pirnie and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Note records work accomplished during Phase 1 of the project Analysis of Special Operations Forces Decision Aids. The objective of this project is to recommend ways in which the capabilities and contributions of special operations forces (SOF) can be better represented in decision aids that support the defense planning, programming, and budgeting process. Phase 1 includes two tasks. Task 1 required RAND to discern the issues central to SOF analysis. The results of Task 1 were briefed to U.S. Special Operations Command staff in October 1991. They are presented here in a condensed form.
