Download or read book Aim High written by Al LÓpez and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-02-28 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Description Since the beginning of mankind, there have always been individuals who start life with disadvantages but by sighting their Aim High above mediocrity they have accomplished great things! I chose the title Aim High for this book as an analogy to impress upon the readers that regardless of their beginnings by sighting their Aim High they can go on to be the best that they can be at whatever they want. The key to success is first to develop a desire for something. What do you want out of life? Once a desire is instilled within, motivation follows, and then you must write out a well thought out plan of action on how to do what you want to achieve then you must follow through with action. I believe we all have a purpose in life. The hard part is to find out what that something is. What is your purpose? The soul that has not established aim loses itself. Montaigne (15331592) In the book Aim High I have done my best to present in sixteen steps guidance and stimulus for success. Success does not happen immediately. Achieving success happens by having a series of successes. The first successes are small, but as you move up one step at a time, you will move up to accomplish higher and higher achievements. Aim High is a self-help book about self- improvement. I have written the sixteen-step aim high path to personal achievementstudy guide in a way that I hope will help all who read it improve the quality of their lives. We go through life making choices. We have the capacity to direct our destiny by the choices we make In the Aim High book I have presented sixteen points I call steps: Effort, Example, Enthusiasm, Spiritual, Physical, Personal, Encouragement, Personality, Financial, Career, Looks, Speak, Purpose, Plan, Belief, Action. These sixteen points provide guidance and serve as a stimulus for success through self-motivation. It is the awaking of the inner self to the potential that can be realized. In order to reach your highest and fullest potential, you must first have the courage to think, to imagine, to dream. Dream! What do you want for yourself out of life? What do you desire? The definition of desire in (thesaurus) is synonyms with hunger, craving, longing, and yearning. Desire will stoke your self-motivation to do! Your first priority is to decide and establish what you desire as your goal. Goal setting is the single most important ingredient in self-motivation that leads to achieving success. Your next priority is to write out a specific plan of action about how you are going to achieve your goal, and you should know why you want you desire it. Then go after your goal with passion, a burning desire within you. To do it! My grandson Ryan invited me to go to the movie, The Empire Strikes Back. I was impressed with what the Jedi teacher teaches his student about engaging the force that is the greatest power in the universe. He tells his student that there is no try, that there is either do or not do. Another important ingredient necessary to achieve success is self-confidence. Self-confidence is a by- product of preparation, and in order to succeed you must discipline yourself to establish the habit of doing what need to be done. Now, not tomorrow! Affirm to yourself, I have faith and belief in myself that I will achieve my goal because I expect to achieve it, because I will work hard to do so, and that no matter what the circumstances, I will never give up. Action is what produces results! Do Power! The thrust of Aim High is to implant the sixteen steps outlined in this book into your mind as seeds necessary for success. We are all born with a powerful toolour brain, and it is up to each and every one of us to learn how to use that powerful tool more efficiently and effectively. On the cover of Aim High, there is a red dot in the center. That dot represents you, and you are your own bulls-eye! To try to hit right in the center of the bulls-ey

Book excerpt: The Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration is an independent body that makes recommendations to the Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for Health, and the appropriate Ministers and departments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in respect of pay. The Review takes in account the following considerations: (i) The need to recruit, retain and motivate doctors and dentists; (ii) Regional/local variations in labour markets; (iii) The funds available to the Health Departments; (iv) The overall strategy of the NHS in respect of patient care. The consultant body is comprised of the most senior medical and dental staff in the NHS, who have expert knowledge in their specialities. The Review Body concludes that the overall compensation for consultants is appropriate, but has some reservations about existing schemes and believes that awards should not be a substitute for pay progression. Book Synopsis Gifted?: The shift to enrichment, challenge and equity by : Morgan Whitfield
Download or read book Gifted?: The shift to enrichment, challenge and equity written by Morgan Whitfield and published by John Catt. This book was released on 2024-07-19 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Gifted and talented' is a zombie. It is dead, but still walking around. There are new labels to stratify students - 'more able', 'significantly able', 'high-aptitude learners'. New labels do not equal new thinking. The concept of 'gifted' is still stubbornly embedded in our educational structures, with its legacy of social immobility, racism and sexism. Students can be 'more able' when they have more financial resources, more access, more visibility, or more cultural acceptance. There are pervasive narratives that educators should prioritise extension for some students and not others. We can dispel the myth that pitching lessons judiciously to 'middle ability', and then differentiating up and down, is effective. This book explores how we can provide every student with rigorous challenge. Challenge for all is an inclusive approach to teaching, whereby every student is invited, and given the tools, to reach a place of mastery. This can be through project-based learning, Harkness round-tables, oracy, adaptive teaching, inclusive enrichment programs, dynamic classroom strategies and a schoolwide mission for equity. Educators can embed powerful knowledge into the curriculum, reimagine teaching to the top, and stretch learners through personalised and responsive instruction. The shift to enrichment, challenge and equity creates magnificent possibilities. The message to all students is: you belong here.

Book Synopsis The Student Aid Game by : Michael S. McPherson
Download or read book The Student Aid Game written by Michael S. McPherson and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 1999-01-03 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Student aid in higher education has recently become a hot-button issue. Parents trying to pay for their children's education, college administrators competing for students, and even President Bill Clinton, whose recently proposed tax breaks for college would change sharply the federal government's financial commitment to higher education, have staked a claim in its resolution. In The Student Aid Game, Michael McPherson and Morton Owen Schapiro explain how both colleges and governments are struggling to cope with a rapidly changing marketplace, and show how sound policies can help preserve the strengths and remedy some emerging weaknesses of American higher education. McPherson and Schapiro offer a detailed look at how undergraduate education is financed in the United States, highlighting differences across sectors and for students of differing family backgrounds. They review the implications of recent financing trends for access to and choice of undergraduate college and gauge the implications of these national trends for the future of college opportunity. The authors examine how student aid fits into college budgets, how aid and pricing decisions are shaped by government higher education policies, and how competition has radically reshaped the way colleges think about the strategic role of student aid. Of particular interest is the issue of merit aid. McPherson and Schapiro consider the attractions and pitfalls of merit aid from the viewpoint of students, institutions, and society. The Student Aid Game concludes with an examination of policy options for both government and individual institutions. McPherson and Schapiro argue that the federal government needs to keep its attention focused on providing access to college for needy students, while colleges themselves need to constrain their search for strategic advantage by sticking to aid and admission policies they are willing to articulate and defend publicly.
