This book was released on 2021-10-20 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agricultural meteorology deals with the meteorological, hydrological, pedological and biological factors that affect agricultural production as well as the interaction between agriculture and the environment. This training manual is developed for the Training of Trainers (TOT) to effectively implement agro-meteorology at the local level through multiple methodologies tested in Lao PDR, such as climate field schools and group approaches, public announcement systems (loudspeakers), and school programmes. The manual is developed for the use of the Laos Climate Service for Agriculture (LaCSA) online system developed under the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-funded project Strengthening Agro-climatic Monitoring and Information Systems (SAMIS) to improve adaptation to climate change and food security in Lao PDR. It is aimed for TOT, and the design is flexible so that any modules or lessons can be extracted and applied in field-level staff training with some local adjustments. The training can also help fill gaps between the producers of agrometeorological services and the farmers’ actual needs to improve their livelihood.

Book Synopsis Save and Grow – A technical guide to agricultural practices in Zambia by : Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Download or read book Save and Grow – A technical guide to agricultural practices in Zambia written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2021-10-14 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide has been developed for extension officers in both the public and the private, including those interested in agricultural development in Zambia. The goal of this manual is to serve as a tool that allows readers to access up to date information about various agricultural practices and their advantages and disadvantages. There are many organisations in Zambia that have programs that aim towards sustainable development in the agricultural sector. Amongst these programs, there are many different approaches to the goal of improving livelihoods. Although these various programs have good reasons for promoting their specific methods, this manual aims to take an independent stance to portray what all of them offer and why. This manual also includes significant information about new approaches and traditional farmer practices or conventional farming methods. The central theme in this manual is that there can never be only one way to achieve a goal under such diverse conditions as are found in agriculture. Although a certain amount of benefit can be gained by rigid guidelines to agricultural practice (for example a specific crop spacing, tillage method or fertilizer recommendation), the diverse factors that affect peoples’ decisions relate to economic, social and environmental conditions make such guidelines impractical in many cases.

Book Synopsis Agronomic Crops by : Mirza Hasanuzzaman
Download or read book Agronomic Crops written by Mirza Hasanuzzaman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-28 with total page 715 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agronomic crops have been used to provide foods, beverages, fodders, fuels, medicines and industrial raw materials since the dawn of human civilization. Today, agronomic crops are being cultivated by employing scientific methods instead of traditional methods. However, in the current era of climate change, agronomic crops are subjected to various environmental stresses, which results in substantial yield loss. To meet the food demands of the ever-increasing global population, new technologies and management practices are being adopted to boost yield and maintain productivity under both normal and adverse conditions. Scientists are now exploring a variety of approaches to the sustainable production of agronomic crops, including varietal development, soil management, nutrient and water management, pest management, etc. Researchers have also made remarkable progress in developing stress tolerance in crops through different approaches. However, achieving optimal production to meet the increasing food demand is an open challenge. Although there have been numerous publications on the above-mentioned problems, and despite the extensive research being conducted on them, there is hardly any comprehensive book available. In response, this book offers a timely resource, addressing all aspects of production technologies, management practices and stress tolerance in agronomic crops in a single volume.

This book was released on 2019-05-16 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agriculture in Eastern Europe and Central Asia is diverse, and has great potential to revitalize the economy of the countries in the region via improved productivity (efficiency) and higher total yield for food, fodder and fibre crops. Conservation agriculture can rise to the major challenge of making sustainable intensification of production systems a reality. In order for farmers to transition to appropriate sustainable production systems, the provision of an adequate enabling environment and access to knowledge and services, including extension, mechanization, inputs and market intelligence, are crucial. This Guide is designed to provide coherent technical tools to Farmer Field Schools and extension service facilitators of conservation agriculture. Furthermore, the Guide is suitable for use within universities’ agriculture curricula.
