Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An essential resource work for understanding how to design and develop smart applications for present and future problems of the field of agriculture.— Dr. Deepak Gupta, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi, India As a result of the advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), many aspects of daily life have been transformed by smart digital technology. Advanced intelligent algorithms can provide powerful solutions to real-world problems. Smart applications have become commonplace. All areas of life are being changed by smart tools developed to deal with complex issues challenging both humanity and the earth. Artificial Intelligence and Smart Agriculture Applications presents the latest smart agriculture applications developed across the globe. It covers a broad array of solutions using data science and AI to attack problems facing agriculture worldwide. Features: Application of drones and sensors in advanced farming A cloud-computing model for implementing smart agriculture Conversational AI for farmer's advisory communications Intelligent fuzzy logic to predict global warming’s effect on agriculture Machine learning algorithms for mapping soil macronutrient elements variability A smart IoT framework for soil fertility enhancement AI applications in pest management A model using Python for predicting rainfall The book examines not only present solutions but also potential future outcomes. It looks at the role of AI-based algorithms and the almost infinite combinations of variables for agricultural applications. Researchers, public and private sector representatives, agriculture scientists, and students can use this book to develop sustainable and solutions for smart agriculture. This book’s findings are especially important as the planet is facing unprecedented environmental challenges from over-farming and climate change due to global warming.
Book Synopsis Biobased Industrial Products by : National Research Council
Download or read book Biobased Industrial Products written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2000-02-16 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Petroleum-based industrial products have gradually replaced products derived from biological materials. However, biologically based products are making a comebackâ€"because of a threefold increase in farm productivity and new technologies. Biobased Industrial Products envisions a biobased industrial future, where starch will be used to make biopolymers and vegetable oils will become a routine component in lubricants and detergents. Biobased Industrial Products overviews the U.S. land resources available for agricultural production, summarizes plant materials currently produced, and describes prospects for increasing varieties and yields. The committee discusses the concept of the biorefinery and outlines proven and potential thermal, mechanical, and chemical technologies for conversion of natural resources to industrial applications. The committee also illustrates the developmental dynamics of biobased products through existing examples, as well as products still on the drawing board, and it identifies priorities for research and development.

Book Synopsis Economic Poisoning by : Adam M. Romero
Download or read book Economic Poisoning written by Adam M. Romero and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The toxicity of pesticides to the environment and humans is often framed as an unfortunate effect of their benefits to agricultural production. In Economic Poisoning, Adam M. Romero upends this narrative and provides a fascinating new history of pesticides in American industrial agriculture prior to World War II. Through impeccable archival research, Romero reveals the ways in which late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American agriculture, especially in California, functioned less as a market for novel pest-killing chemical products and more as a sink for the accumulating toxic wastes of mining, oil production, and chemical manufacturing. Connecting farming ecosystems to technology and the economy, Romero provides an intriguing reconceptualization of pesticides that forces readers to rethink assumptions about food, industry, and the relationship between human and nonhuman environments.

Book Synopsis Socioeconomic and Environmental Implications of Agricultural Residue Burning by : Parmod Kumar
Download or read book Socioeconomic and Environmental Implications of Agricultural Residue Burning written by Parmod Kumar and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-20 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the important issue of the socioeconomic and environmental impacts of agricultural residue burning, common in agricultural practices in many parts of the world. In particular, it focuses on the pollution caused by rice residue burning using primary survey data from Punjab, India. It discusses emerging solutions to agricultural waste burning that are cost-effective in terms of both money and time. The burning of agricultural residue causes severe pollution in land, water and air and contributes to increased ozone levels and climate change in the long term. However, appropriate assessments have not been undertaken so far to demonstrate the relevant impact of agriculture-based pollution, especially residue burning. This book addresses this gap in the literature. Punjab has been used as a case study as it is the chief granary of India, contributing to 27.2 percent of the Indian national produce of rice and 43.8 percent of wheat. It is presumed that the findings from this state will be useful not only for other agricultural areas in India, but across the world. This book, therefore, sensitizes policy makers, researchers and students about the impacts of air pollution caused by agricultural residue burning---a subject not much dealt in the literature---and provides a way forward.
