Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical, Proven Tools for Leading and Empowering High-Performing Agile Teams A leader is like a farmer, who doesn’t grow crops by pulling them but instead creates the perfect environment for the crops to grow and thrive. If you lead in organizations that have adopted agile methods, you know it’s crucial to create the right environment for your agile teams. Traditional tools such as Gantt charts, detailed plans, and internal KPIs aren’t adequate for complex and fast-changing markets, but merely trusting employees and teams to self-manage is insufficient as well. In Agile Leadership Toolkit, longtime agile leader Peter Koning provides a practical and invaluable steering wheel for agile leaders and their teams. Drawing on his extensive experience helping leaders drive more value from agile, Koning offers a comprehensive toolkit for continuously improving your environment, including structures, metrics, meeting techniques, and governance for creating thriving teams that build disruptive products and services. Koning thoughtfully explains how to lead agile teams at large scale and how team members fit into both the team and the wider organization. Architect environments that help teams learn, grow, and flourish for the long term Get timely feedback everyone can use to improve Co-create goals focused on the customer, not the internal organization Help teams brainstorm and visualize the value of their work to the customer Facilitate team ownership and accelerate team learning Support culture change, and design healthier team habits Make bigger changes faster This actionable guide is for leaders at all levels—whether you’re supervising your first agile team, responsible for multiple teams, or lead the entire company. Book excerpt: All of the agile cards have been pulled, and nonetheless new products still do not get faster to the market. If this situation seems familiar, you should read this story about a company that prepared their agile transition in exemplary fashion: 600 employees reorganized into cross-functional teams, their work visualized and practically perfect Standups and Retrospectives held. The result: Time-to-Market for the products became worse - and not a trace of business agility. This book shows you what goes wrong with many agile transitions and why the desired improvements fail to materialize. You also learn how to get out of a dead end and what can be done before starting a transformation in order to prevent heading down a dead end to begin with.A little preview: Do not start by making teams agile - this will save your nerves and lots of money!

Changes are often small and seamless, but sometimes big and dramatic. Agility is to create, exploit and endure changes in circumstances. An agile business is able to successfully create effects in the market and take advantage of the opportunities that arise. In order to survive in the long term, both resilience and adaptability are needed. Being able to establish this balance is what agile management is all about. Major changes in the market are impossible to predict, but we know for sure that they will occur. We just don’t know when and what will change. Recessions and financial crashes return in cycles. While other dramatic world events are much more difficult to prepare for and realize the consequences of. So how can a company adopt the resilience it needs to not only survive, but also thrive in the tumultuous periods? In this book we will show how the principles of agile management can help companies keep pace with changes in the world around them. We start with basic knowledge about adaptation to explain how organizations work and then explores the principles behind agile management backed up with examples and useful methods and practices. The book also points out characteristics of an agile business that can be used for self-assessment. We believe in people’s initiative and their ability to act. With knowledge, curiosity and feedback, the journey towards the agile business can start.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to successfully operating in a lean-agile organization for solutions architects and enterprise architects Key FeaturesDevelop the right combination of processes and technical excellence to address architectural challengesExplore a range of architectural techniques to modernize legacy systemsDiscover how to design and continuously improve well-architected sustainable softwareBook Description Many organizations have embraced Agile methodologies to transform their ability to rapidly respond to constantly changing customer demands. However, in this melee, many enterprises often neglect to invest in architects by presuming architecture is not an intrinsic element of Agile software development. Since the role of an architect is not pre-defined in Agile, many organizations struggle to position architects, often resulting in friction with other roles or a failure to provide a clear learning path for architects to be productive. This book guides architects and organizations through new Agile ways of incrementally developing the architecture for delivering an uninterrupted, continuous flow of values that meets customer needs. You'll explore various aspects of Agile architecture and how it differs from traditional architecture. The book later covers Agile architects' responsibilities and how architects can add significant value by positioning themselves appropriately in the Agile flow of work. Through examples, you'll also learn concepts such as architectural decision backlog, the last responsible moment, value delivery, architecting for change, DevOps, and evolutionary collaboration. By the end of this Agile book, you'll be able to operate as an architect in Agile development initiatives and successfully architect reliable software systems. What you will learnAcquire clarity on the duties of architects in Agile developmentUnderstand architectural styles such as domain-driven design and microservicesIdentify the pitfalls of traditional architecture and learn how to develop solutionsUnderstand the principles of value and data-driven architectureDiscover DevOps and continuous delivery from an architect's perspectiveAdopt Lean-Agile documentation and governanceDevelop a set of personal and interpersonal qualitiesFind out how to lead the transformation to achieve organization-wide agilityWho this book is for This agile study guide is for architects currently working on agile development projects or aspiring to work on agile software delivery, irrespective of the methodology they are using. You will also find this book useful if you're a senior developer or a budding architect looking to understand an agile architect's role by embracing agile architecture strategies and a lean-agile mindset. To understand the concepts covered in this book easily, you need to have prior knowledge of basic agile development practices.

This book was released on 2006-12-19 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides a much-needed review of the “Turning Point” in the evolution of airborne threat warning systems from analog to digital beginning in the early 1970s and the combat conditions of the Vietnam War that brought about the evolution. The military operational requirement for reprogrammability of threat characteristics is described and detailed. Illustrations of several types of radar warning receiver (RWR) processors are shown. Basic software structures and functions are reviewed and top-level flow charts and diagrams of critical algorithms and circuits of the original systems are discussed. The ‘electro-political’ environment is treated also in the retelling of the origins of the developmental impetus, as well as the technical approach and resource applications that resulted in the new family of warning system processors.
Book Synopsis Weather Radar Networking by : C.G. Collier
Download or read book Weather Radar Networking written by C.G. Collier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meteorology is by nature a multidisciplinary and transnational subject and COST cooperation has proved to be a flexible and suitable framework at European level for meteorological activities such as the standardisation of observation techniques and harmonised transmission of meteorological data. Although meteorology is not covered by a specific Community programme as such, various Community actions dealing with meteorology are now included in the EEC research programme on climatology (the "EPOCH" programme - 1989-92) of mechanisms of extreme and sudden concerning particularly the study meteorological events, in order to predict catastrophies and consequently to reduce human and material losses. In the context of COST cooperation, which is supported by the Commission of the European Communities, the COST 73 project (1986-1991) associates 16 countries in Western Europe with the aim of setting up a weather radar network providing real-time measurements of rain, snow or hail precipitations. In this project, radar data are transmitted and combined if appropriate with satellite data - in one or more "compositing centres" of the participating countries, in order to improve weather forecasting. Together with the COST 73 Management Committee, the Commission of the European Communities organized a seminar on this matter, in Brussels on 5-8 September 1989, at the half-way stage of the project.
Book Synopsis An Introduction to Electronic Warfare; from the First Jamming to Machine Learning Techniques by : Chi-Hao Cheng
