This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freemasonry is a system of learning that has been recognized as?a?product of western civilization, however what is not told is the influences by people of African descent. This book describes the contributions to freemasonry from the ancient African civilizations of Egypt, Nubia and pre Islamic Arabia. It is designed to give the reader a deeper understanding of its origins as well as its connection to world civilizations and world religion, all of which has an African presence. This book will also looks at the universe of African American Masonic organizations from the early 18th century to the 20th century America, which ranged from the origins of prince hall freemasonry to Black Nationalist and esoteric religious sects like the Moorish Science Temple of America, the UNIA and several other offshoots. Contrary to prior accounts, African American Freemasonry was concerned with far more than simply acknowledgement and respectability. The book will demonstrate that Freemasonry played a critical role in, history, politics and African American social life. I discuss such topics as the impact of Greek philosophy on western civilization, the rise of Islam and its impact on the African continent and finally the grandeur and accomplishments of the moors of Spain. African people have been at the very core of this rich foundation. In addition I discuss the comparisons between the ancient Egyptian civilization and modern day freemasonry. I explore its symbolism as well as the esoteric foundations that freemasonry relies so heavily upon. Once freemasonry reach the western hemisphere it became a tool for influencing Europe's elite. Moreover, my research covers the history of the knight's of Europe and the origins of?european chivalry and how Arabic poetry played an important role in its establishment. Additional topics include Napoleon Bonaparte, The mystic shrine and the foundations of Orientalism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regional Integration in Africa Bridging the North-Sub-Saharan Divide came about as a research project conducted by the Africa Institute of South Africa and examines the North African countries' strategies of involvement in the African continent, and their integration initiatives. The book looks at major issues involving Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania. These countries, in most cases, have been treated as separate from sub-Saharan Africa. However, the historical reality and economic and political interests indicate that the North African countries have been and still are closely connected with the rest of the African continent. Egypt, for example, was one of the leading countries in the African unity movement, and, together with Libya, has contributed to the restructuring of the African continental organisation and the establishment of the African Union. The book consists of two parts. The first part includes five chapters written in English, the second part of the book comprises six chapters written in Arabic.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first in a three volume set of Mazrui's most important essays, this volume redefines the meaning of Africanity across geographical space, time and cultures. The resulting definition forces us to reject neo-imperialist paradigms and ontologies of what it means to be African. By encouraging us to think about Africanity as an idea rather than as point of origin, the ideas contained in these essays force us to reposition ourselves in the debate of our place in global cultures and civilisations, and prepare us to take an active role in social and political affairs.

The Jewish wing of the Semitic people converged with the Western world; the Arab wing of the Semites converged with Africa. The three Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have confronted the racial divide between Caucasian people and people of color. This book explores the geographical regions of Africa, the Middle East, and the Western world in the context of fragile structures and resilient cultures. Book jacket.
