Ajuoga, a key figure in the East African Revival of the late 1950s, was a leader in the establishment of the Church of Christ in Africa-Johera, along with 16,000 former Anglican communicants and a handful of priests in Kenya. Pickens has collected and presented Ajuoga's largely oral Johera Narrative, complete with commentary and resources, which heretofore had only been available within Ajuoga's immediate religious community. In doing so Pickens has not only illuminated the largely unnoticed AIC movement but also created a template for similar work by scholars working with nontraditional primary sources. Reading While Black is a personal and scholarly testament to the power and hope of Black biblical interpretation. At a time in which some within the African American community are questioning the place of the Christian faith in the struggle for justice, New Testament scholar McCaulley argues that reading Scripture from the perspective of Black church tradition is invaluable for connecting with a rich faith history and addressing the urgent issues of our times. He advocates for a model of interpretation that involves an ongoing conversation between the collective Black experience and the Bible, in which the particular questions coming out of Black communities are given pride of place and the Bible is given space to respond by affirming, challenging, and, at times, reshaping Black concerns. McCaulley demonstrates this model with studies on how Scripture speaks to topics often overlooked by white interpreters, such as ethnicity, political protest, policing, and slavery. Ultimately McCaulley calls the church to a dynamic theological engagement with Scripture, in which Christians of diverse backgrounds dialogue with their own social location as well as the cultures of others. Reading While Black moves the conversation forward.

She is known for the big crusades in Uhuru Park and also for her gift of prophesy. Rev. Teresa has set a standard that women can also be used greatly by God in mass evangelism. David Oyedepo, before starting the church, he read 39 biographies of outstanding ministries, discovering how great ministries are run, acquiring sound knowledge and thinking for running a great ministry. In 1984, when the membership of his church was still under forty, he inquired of the Lord in a 3-day prayer and fasting "Why is this church not growing?" Robert Kayanja, as a young pastor in a war torn country, God used him to awaken the nation of Uganda to the power of God. It will be unfair to talk about revival in Uganda and you don''t mention his name. He longed to meet with T.L Osborn and miraculously interpreted for him when he came to Uganda.
