Book Synopsis An Introduction to the Theory of Point Processes by : D.J. Daley
Download or read book An Introduction to the Theory of Point Processes written by D.J. Daley and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Point processes and random measures find wide applicability in telecommunications, earthquakes, image analysis, spatial point patterns, and stereology, to name but a few areas. The authors have made a major reshaping of their work in their first edition of 1988 and now present their Introduction to the Theory of Point Processes in two volumes with sub-titles Elementary Theory and Models and General Theory and Structure. Volume One contains the introductory chapters from the first edition, together with an informal treatment of some of the later material intended to make it more accessible to readers primarily interested in models and applications. The main new material in this volume relates to marked point processes and to processes evolving in time, where the conditional intensity methodology provides a basis for model building, inference, and prediction. There are abundant examples whose purpose is both didactic and to illustrate further applications of the ideas and models that are the main substance of the text.

Book Synopsis Point Processes and Product Densities by : S. Kidambi Srinivasan
Download or read book Point Processes and Product Densities written by S. Kidambi Srinivasan and published by Alpha Science Int'l Ltd.. This book was released on 2003 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Point processes are random processes that are concerned with point events occurring in space or time. A powerful method of analyzing them is through a sequence of correlation functions, called product densities, introduced by Alladi Ramakrishnan. In view of their wide applicability, there is a spectacular development of the theory and applications of these processes in the recent past. Most of the books and monographs in this area are not easily comprehensible to non-mathematically oriented readers, because of their abstraction and generality. In addition, the best way to learn a subject is to study the original papers. Hence it is considered worthwhile to reprint some of the most significant contributions of Alladi Ramakrishnan and his associates to serve as a ready reference volume. While a good working knowledge of elementary probability theory is a must, some acquaintance with Markov processes will be helpful to read these papers. This volume will be useful to young researchers working in the broad area of stochastic point processes and their applications and in particular indispensable to those working in stochastic modeling with special reference to problems of queues, inventory, reliability, neural network etc. It will also be useful to those working in the conventional areas of statistical physics, fluctuating phenomena and communication theory and control, where point processes are extensively employed.

Book Synopsis Introduction to the Theory of Point Processes by :
Download or read book Introduction to the Theory of Point Processes written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt:
Download or read book Point Processes written by D.R. Cox and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-19 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been much recent research on the theory of point processes, i.e., on random systems consisting of point events occurring in space or time. Applications range from emissions from a radioactive source, occurrences of accidents or machine breakdowns, or of electrical impluses along nerve fibres, to repetitive point events in an individual's medical or social history. Sometimes the point events occur in space rather than time and the application here raneg from statistical physics to geography. The object of this book is to develop the applied mathemathics of point processes at a level which will make the ideas accessible both to the research worker and the postgraduate student in probability and statistics and also to the mathemathically inclined individual in another field interested in using ideas and results. A thorough knowledge of the key notions of elementary probability theory is required to understand the book, but specialised "pure mathematical" coniderations have been avoided.

Book Synopsis Recent Progress in Function Theory and Operator Theory by : Alberto A. Condori
Download or read book Recent Progress in Function Theory and Operator Theory written by Alberto A. Condori and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2024-04-30 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS Special Session on Recent Progress in Function Theory and Operator Theory, held virtually on April 6, 2022. Function theory is a classical subject that examines the properties of individual elements in a function space, while operator theory usually deals with concrete operators acting on such spaces or other structured collections of functions. These topics occupy a central position in analysis, with important connections to partial differential equations, spectral theory, approximation theory, and several complex variables. With the aid of certain canonical representations or “models”, the study of general operators can often be reduced to that of the operator of multiplication by one or several independent variables, acting on spaces of analytic functions or compressions of this operator to co-invariant subspaces. In this way, a detailed understanding of operators becomes connected with natural questions concerning analytic functions, such as zero sets, constructions of functions constrained by norms or interpolation, multiplicative structures granted by factorizations in spaces of analytic functions, and so forth. In many cases, non-obvious problems initially motivated by operator-theoretic considerations turn out to be interesting on their own, leading to unexpected challenges in function theory. The research papers in this volume deal with the interplay between function theory and operator theory and the way in which they influence each other.
