Book Synopsis Ion Exchange in Analytical Chemistry by : William Rieman
Download or read book Ion Exchange in Analytical Chemistry written by William Rieman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analytical Chemistry, Volume 38: Ion Exchange in Analytical Chemistry provides a broad survey of the important role that ion exchange can and should play in chemical analysis. This book focuses on the plate-equilibrium theory of chromatography, which is less difficult theoretically than the mass-transfer theory. Organized into 11 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the earliest recorded application of ion exchange. This text then examines how high temperature affects ion-exchange resins. Other chapters consider the exchange of ions between a solid ion-exchanging material and a solution, which is a typically reversible reaction. This book describes as well the relatively simple separations and other applications of ion exchange to analytical chemistry. The final chapter deals with the interesting nature of the metal complexes formed within the exchanger and describe the use of ion-exchange distribution studies to determine the stability and nature of complexes existing in the solution. This book is a valuable resource for analytical chemists.
Book Synopsis Ion Chromatography by : Hamish Small
Download or read book Ion Chromatography written by Hamish Small and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bewitched is an odd word with which to begin a chemical textbook. Yet that is a fair description of how I reacted on first leaming of ion exchange and imagining what might be done with it. That initial fascination has not left me these many years later, and it has provided much ofthe motivation for writing this book. The perceived need for a text on the fundamentals of ion chromatography provided the rest. Many readers will have a general idea of what ion chromatography is and what it does. Briefly, for those who do not, it is an umbrella term for a variety of chromatographie methods for the rapid and sensitive analysis of mixtures of ionic species. It has become highly developed in the last decade, and while it is now routinely used for the determination of organic as weH as inorganic ions, its initial impact was greatest in the area of inorganic analysis. In the past the determination of inorganic ions, particularly anions, meant laborious, time-con suming, and often not very sensitive "wet chemieal" methods. In the last ten years that has changed radically as ion chromatography has supplanted these older methods.
Book Synopsis Toxicity and Drug Testing by : Bill Acree
Download or read book Toxicity and Drug Testing written by Bill Acree and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-02-10 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern drug design and testing involves experimental in vivo and in vitro measurement of the drug candidate's ADMET (adsorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination and toxicity) properties in the early stages of drug discovery. Only a small percentage of the proposed drug candidates receive government approval and reach the market place. Unfavorable pharmacokinetic properties, poor bioavailability and efficacy, low solubility, adverse side effects and toxicity concerns account for many of the drug failures encountered in the pharmaceutical industry. Authors from several countries have contributed chapters detailing regulatory policies, pharmaceutical concerns and clinical practices in their respective countries with the expectation that the open exchange of scientific results and ideas presented in this book will lead to improved pharmaceutical products.

Book Synopsis Water-Insoluble Drug Formulation by : Ron Liu
Download or read book Water-Insoluble Drug Formulation written by Ron Liu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-03-12 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Properties and Formulation: From Theory to Real-World Application Scientists have attributed more than 40 percent of the failures in new drug development to poor biopharmaceutical properties, particularly water insolubility. Issues surrounding water insolubility can postpone or completely derail important new drug development. Even the much-needed reformulation of currently marketed products can be significantly affected by these challenges. More recently it was reported that the percentage increased to 90% for the candidates of new chemical entities in the discovery stage and 75% for compounds under development. In the most comprehensive resource on the topic, this third edition of Water-Insoluble Drug Formulation brings together a distinguished team of experts to provide the scientific background and step-by-step guidance needed to deal with solubility issues in drug development. Twenty-three chapters systematically describe the detailed discussion on solubility theories, solubility prediction models, the aspects of preformulation, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, regulatory, and discovery support of water-insoluble drugs to various techniques used in developing delivery systems for water-insoluble drugs. This book includes more than 15 water-insoluble drug delivery systems or technologies, illustrated with case studies and featuring oral and parenteral applications. Highlighting the most current information and data available, this seminal volume reflects the significant progress that has been made in nearly all aspects of this field. The aim of this book is to provide a handy reference for pharmaceutical scientists in the handling of formulation issues related to water-insoluble drugs. In addition, this book may be useful to pharmacy and chemistry undergraduate students and pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical graduate students to enhance their knowledge in the techniques of drug solubilization and dissolution enhancement.
Book Synopsis Enzymatic Methods of Analysis by : George G. Guilbault
Download or read book Enzymatic Methods of Analysis written by George G. Guilbault and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enzymatic Methods of Analysis attempts to cover all the aspects of modern enzymatic analysis. Enzymes possess a great potential usefulness in analytical chemistry. The specificity of enzymes can solve the primary problem of most analytical chemists—the analysis of one substance in the presence of many similar compounds that interfere in the analysis. The book begins with two introductory chapters devoted to general considerations of enzymes as reagents and methods of analysis of enzymatic reactions. The next four chapters deal with methods for the assay of specific enzymes, and substrate, activator, and inhibitor analysis using enzymes. In the last two chapters the immobilization of enzymes and the automation of enzymatic reactions are discussed. In addition, a listing of all commercially available enzymes is given in an appendix. It is hoped that the information presented will prove interesting and stimulating to all individuals engaged in research and development.
