Book Synopsis Acoustic Emission in Friction by : Victor M. Baranov
Download or read book Acoustic Emission in Friction written by Victor M. Baranov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-07-29 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acoustic Emission in Friction is devoted to acoustic, mainly ultrasonic, emission that occurs in friction of machine components. Its crucial novelty is in systematizing the advances in its use for monitoring technical systems, especially in the important nuclear power industry. Written by four well-known experts from the main nuclear research university in Russia, this book covers the following areas: All the sources of acoustic emission in friction The theory of acoustic emission The effects of surface conditions, load and velocity on acoustic emission The equipment for registration and monitoring of acoustic emission Unique data from acoustic emission control under various testing conditions in friction units of machinery for nuclear industry machinery There is much emphasis on the comparatively new and rapidly developing tribology of nuclear power engineering. Although a substantial part of the experimental data relates to this specific field of engineering, the universality of the method is shown and its application is possible wherever the field inspection of friction units is necessary. Calculation expressions describing main characteristics of AE registered in friction units Describes new set-ups for studying the tribological behaviour of nuclear engineering materials Presents the theory of the acoustic emission method in friction units
Book Synopsis Advances in Surface Acoustic Wave Technology, Systems and Applications by : Clemens C. W. Ruppel
Download or read book Advances in Surface Acoustic Wave Technology, Systems and Applications written by Clemens C. W. Ruppel and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are recognized for their versatility and efficiency in controlling and processing electrical signals. This has resulted in a multitude of device concepts for a wide range of signal processing functions, such as delay lines, filters, resonators, pulse compressors, convolvers, and many more. As SAW technology has found its way into mass market products such as TV receivers, pagers, keyless entry systems and cellular phones, the production volume has risen to millions of devices produced every day. At the other end of the scale, there are specialized high performance signal processing SAW devices for satellite communication and military applications, such as radar and electronic warfare. This volume, together with Volume 2, presents an overview of recent advances in SAW technology, systems and applications by some of the foremost researchers in this exciting field.

Book Synopsis Structural Health Monitoring of Large Structures Using Acoustic Emission–Case Histories by : Kanji Ono
Download or read book Structural Health Monitoring of Large Structures Using Acoustic Emission–Case Histories written by Kanji Ono and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-11-23 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acoustic emission (AE) techniques have successfully been used for assuring the structural integrity of large rocket motorcases since 1963, and their uses have expanded to ever larger structures, especially as structural health monitoring (SHM) of large structures has become the most urgent task for engineering communities around the world. The needs for advanced AE monitoring methods are felt keenly by those dealing with aging infrastructures. Many publications have appeared covering various aspects of AE techniques, but documentation of actual applications of AE techniques has been mostly limited to reports of successful results without technical details that allow objective evaluation of the results. There are some exceptions in the literature. In this Special Issue of the Acoustics section of Applied Sciences, we seek contributions covering these exceptions cited here. Here, we seek contributions describing case histories of AE applications to large structures that have achieved the goals of SHM by providing adequate technical information supporting the success stories. Types of structures can include aerospace and geological structures, bridges, buildings, factories, maritime facilities, off-shore structures, etc. Experiences with AE monitoring methods designed and proven for large stru

Book Synopsis Advances and Developments in NDE Techniques for Concrete Structures by : John S. Popovics
Download or read book Advances and Developments in NDE Techniques for Concrete Structures written by John S. Popovics and published by ASCE Publications. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Special issue of the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, May/June 2003, Volume 15, Issue 3. This special issue contains 11 papers presentingØØthe latest developments in the practical application of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) techniques to civil engineering materials and structures. Modern civil engineering structures incorporate complicated multimaterial components that require special monitoring through sophisticated NDE, which must be drawn from a range of physical phenomena. With a focus on cutting-edge techniques, several papers deal with nondestructive void and corrosion detection of embedded post-tensioned cables on concrete elements. Other papers present research findings on NDE techniques for steel cables, early-age and mature reinforced-concrete elements, and fiber-composite sheets, where ultrasound, magnetism, infrared thermography, acoustic emission, and radar phenomena are applied.
