This book was released on 1974 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes an analytical and experimental study of advanced, small, high-temperature combustors. This volume describes the third and final phase of this program which included the design and performance verification tests of a full-scale combustion system. The objectives of the 32-month program were to develop and validate an analytical design technique for small, high-temperature-rise, low-airflow combustors and related components, and to define the limitations associated with these small combustors and related components and the effects of these limitations on the cycle and the configuration of advanced-technology engines. Hunter and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes an analytical and experimental study of advanced, small, high-temperature combustors. The objectives of the 32-month program were (a) to develop and validate an analytical design technique for small, high-temperature-rise, low-airflow combustors and related components, and (b) to define the limitations associated with these small combustors and related components and the effects of these limitations on the cycle and the configuration of advanced-technology engines. Analytical models were developed to predict the characteristics and performance of the basic combustor elements, including fuel injection, primary zone, dilution zone, and liner cooling. Nine combustor element rig test programs were conducted to provide data to update and validate the analytical models. Based on the analysis and rig test results, a full-scale combustor was designed, fabricated, and tested. (Modified author abstract).
Book Synopsis Advanced High Temperature Combustor Research for Small Gas Turbine Engines by : Richard H. Andersen
Download or read book Advanced High Temperature Combustor Research for Small Gas Turbine Engines written by Richard H. Andersen and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design studies and an experimental test program were conducted to provide basic technology and preliminary flight-weight designs for a small (2-5 lb/sec total engine airflow) high temperature rise combustor with a 3000F exit temperature, as a first step towards demonstration in an advanced engine. Tests were conducted to evaluate the combustor design parameters developed in the initial design study phase of the program pertaining to liner cooling techniques, primary-diluent air mixing, fuel introduction and patternization, and primary zone performance. The preliminary designs optimize the technology developed in this program and comprise both annular and can end-mounted combustor configurations incorporating an annular vaporizer fuel introduction system and transpirationally cooled liners. Book Synopsis Compliant Metal Enhanced Convection Cooled Reverse-flow Annular Combustor by : Marc D. Paskin
Download or read book Compliant Metal Enhanced Convection Cooled Reverse-flow Annular Combustor written by Marc D. Paskin and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A joint Army/NASA program was conducted to design, fabricate, and test an advanced, reverse-flow, small gas turbine combustor using a compliant metal enhanced (CME) convection wall cooling concept. The objectives of this effort were to develop a design method (basic design data base and analysis) for the CME cooling technique and tben demonstrate its application to an advanced cycle, small, reverse-flow combustor with 3000 F (1922 K) burner outlet temperature (BOT). The CME concept offers significant improvements in wall cooling effectiveness resulting in a large reduction in cooling air requirements. Therefore, more air is available for control of burner outlet temperature pattern in addition to the benefit of improved efficiency, reduced emissions, and smoke levels. Rig test results demonstrated the benefits and viability of the CME concept meeting or exceeding the aerothermal performance and liner wall temperature characteristics of similar lower temperature-rise combustors, achieving 0.15 pattern factor at 3000 F (1922 K) BOT, while utilizing approximately 80 percent less cooling air than conventional, film-cooled combustion systems.
