It is with both pride and gratitude that we present the fourth edition of Access Device Guidelines: Recommendations for Nursing Practice and Education. The intent of these guidelines is to provide the foundation for evidence-based practice and support oncology nurses in their day-to-day care of patients. This publication marks the fourth edition of Access Device Guidelines, a slight departure from the previous publication in 2017 titled Access Device Standards of Practice. Book excerpt: "Oncology nursing is a unique specialty that requires continuous learning to stay up to date on cancer pathophysiology, cutting-edge drugs, and the evidence-based management of cancer and cancer treatment-related toxicities. The Oncology Nursing Society's (ONS's) second edition of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Guidelines and Recommendations for Practice provides nurses with the tools to understand how medications are used in cancer treatment, the effect of medication-related toxicities, and evidence-based recommendations to manage and treat these toxicities. This edition features many new cancer therapies approved since the 2019 publication. Each drug is categorized as chemotherapy, hormone, targeted, or immunotherapy agents. Extensive drug tables in the book provide nurses with tips for managing patients receiving these drugs. The expansion of oral antineoplastic therapies, alone or in combination with infusion therapy, requires that nurses review a patient's complete cancer treatment plan and consider the side effects, toxicities, and adherence to oral drugs to ensure patient tolerance and efficacy. This second edition has seen content expanded on the topic of genomics as we move forward in the world of personalized oncology. Health equity is approached with information discussing financial distress, cultural disparities, and health literacy. The latest guidelines and recommendations for treatment, symptom management, and survivorship have been integrated into this new text. This edition features a QR code, provided with the purchase of this book, to download quarterly drug updates. You will see new evidence related to many aspects of cancer nursing care incorporated into this edition, such as hypersensitivity response, safe handling of hazardous drugs, and more. The editors want to thank all of the contributors to this edition who worked tirelessly, despite a pandemic, to make this new edition a reality. This work builds on the knowledge of many generations of oncology nurses and has been used nationally and internationally to guide oncology nursing practice. We are proud to continue to serve oncology nurses worldwide with an essential resource to guide their practice"--

Book excerpt: The ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine is a teaching text that contains the knowledge base needed by every general cardiologist and specialist cardiologist as a background to their specialty interest. The textbook content is based on the Core Curriculum of the European Society of Cardiology, making the textbook essential reading for all cardiology trainees. The textbook contains much of the evidence base that is used to derive the practice guidelines published by the European Society of Cardiology, and its contents will be used as a basis for testing the knowledge of trainees who seek to qualify as cardiologists and of cardiologists who must re-accredit their status as cardiovascular health care providers. The book contains 38 chapters flowing from the clinical and investigation interface with the patient through comprehensive desciprtion of disease processes and pathophysiological states and finally to the complex interrelationship between the heart and the mind. The text and design is intended to produce a book that is readable and readily understandable. The text is interspersed with many full color diagrams and simple tabulations. Line diagrams are re-drawn to produce a consistent feel to the book. Chapters relating to cardiac imaging, for example, echocardiography, computed tomography, cardiac magnetic resonance, and nuclear cardiology are richly illustrated. The book is comprised of a print and on-line version. The text in the print version has comprehensive referencing, but the references themselves are available only from the on-line edition where the citations are directly linked to PubMed in order to facilitate retrieval of abstracts and full texts, where available. In both versions, there is a "further reading" list, which consists of major reference works, practice guidelines, especially those published by the European Society of Cardiology, scientific statements, and task force reports. The on-line version includes video images that are represented by a static photograph in the print version. Each chapter begins with a summary of the chapter and a listing of the chapter contents, and is completed with a few paragraphs of personal reflection from the authors about the standing of their subject and its likely development during the next five years.

Awarded First Place in the AJN 2022 Book of the Year Awards in the Community/Public Health Category! "Practical Implementation Science: Moving Evidence Into Action provides the ideal text for a master’s-level implementation science course. It fills an important gap by focusing on building skills among trainees whose careers will focus more on implementation practice than research, and prepares them to partner with scientists to enhance effective implementation in public health and health systems. Most importantly, my students feel that the book is helping make a topic that can be experienced as complex, very accessible." Donna Shelley, MD, MPH Professor Dept. Public Health Policy and Management Director, Global Center for Implementation Science NYU School of Global Public Health Practical Implementation Science is designed for graduate health professional and advanced undergraduate students who want to master the steps of using implementation science to improve public health. Engaging and accessible, this textbook demonstrates how to implement evidence-based practices effectively through use of relevant theories, frameworks, models, tools, and research findings. Additional real-world case studies across public health, global health, and health policy provide essential context to the major issues facing implementation domestically and globally with consideration of communities in low-to-middle-income countries (LMIC). The textbook is organized around the steps involved in planning, executing, and evaluating implementation efforts to improve health outcomes in communities. Coverage spans assessing the knowledge-practice gap; selecting an evidence-based practice (EBP) to reduce the gap; assessing EBP fit and adapting the EBP; assessing barriers and facilitators of implementation; engaging stakeholders; creating an implementation structure; implementing the EBP; and evaluating the EBP effort. Each chapter includes a "how to" approach to conducting the task at hand. The text also addresses the practical importance of implementation science through disseminating EBPs; scaling up EBPs; sustaining EBPs; and de-implementing practices that are no longer effective. All chapters include learning objectives and summaries with emphasized Key Points for Practice, Common Pitfalls in Practice, and discussion questions to direct learning and classroom discussion. Fit for students of public health, health policy, nursing, medicine, mental health, behavioral health, allied health, and social work, Practical Implementation Science seeks to bridge the gap from scientific evidence to effective practice. Key Features: Soup to Nuts Approach – Distills the steps to selecting, adapting, implementing, evaluating, scaling up, and sustaining evidence-based practices Expert Insight – Editors and chapter authors bring years of experience from leading implementation programs and interventions Multidisciplinary Focus – Utilizes cases and research findings relevant to students of public health, medicine, nursing, mental health, behavioral health, and social work Case Studies and Real-World Examples – Blends frameworks, models, and tools with real-world examples for students interested in both domestic and global health eBook Access – Included with print purchase for use on most mobile devices or computers Instructor's Packet – Complete with an Instructor's Manual, PowerPoint slides, and a Sample Syllabus
