Die einzelnen Bestandteile des Lebens innerhalb einer Klostergemeinschaft werden dargestellt und erläutert. Ein Einblick in das Klosterleben und die Regeln und Pflichten, die eine Nonne zu beachten hatte, sind Bestandteil dieser Hausarbeit. Dazu gehört ebenfalls eine beispielhafte Darstellung eines Tagesablaufs einer Nonne. Ein besserer Einblick in das klösterliche Leben der adeligen Frauen ist dadurch möglich. Zusätzlich werden einige finanzielle Belange betrachtet, die für den Eintritt in eine Klostergemeinschaft unbedingt notwendig waren. Ebenfalls gebe ich einen Einblick in die Besitztümer der Klöster und erläutere, woher die Besitztümer der Klöster stammen und wie die Klöster in den Besitz von Ländereien und ähnlichem Besitz gekommen sind. Die verschiedenen Arten von Besitztümern der Kirche werden aufgezeigt und anhand dieser Erklärungen ist es möglich, sich eine genauere Vorstellung vom Besitz einer Klostergemeinschaft zu machen. Der erste Teil der Hausarbeit konzentriert sich auf das klösterliche Leben. Die einzelnen Bestandteile des Lebens hinter den Klostermauern werden dargestellt. Im zweiten Teil der Hausarbeit wird dann der wirtschaftliche Teil des Klosterlebens betrachtet. Es folgt dann eine Darstellung der einzelnen wirtschaftlichen Einkünfte der Kirche. Hierbei handelt es sich um die verschiedenen Kirchenwesen und die Arten der Gebühren, die an die Kirche zu entrichten waren. Neben der vorherigen Darstellung des Klosterlebens und der dazu gehörenden Regeln wird auch der ökonomische Aspekt des Klosters betrachtet. Jahrhundert. Es stellt sich die Frage, warum zu dieser Zeit so viele Frauen in die neuen religiösen Verbände, Stifte und Orden drängten und wer an der Entstehung beteiligt war. Am Beispiel des zisterzienserischen Ordens möchte ich die Gründe für die Entstehung von Nonnenkonventen und die Motive zum Eintritt der Frauen anhand ihrer Herkunft und der Vorteile der klösterlichen Lebensweise ermitteln. Wie gestalteten sich Alltag, Ämterverteilung und Zugang zur Bildung in der Gemeinschaft? Ausgehend von der Entwicklungsgeschichte von Zisterzienserinnenklöstern im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert werde ich im zweiten Teil der Arbeit die weibliche klösterliche Lebenswelt in Alltag, Ämtern und Bildung darlegen. Abschließend möchte ich das Verhältnis der Nonnen zu ihren Ordensbrüdern klären, ihre Akzeptanz in der Kirche und ihre Stellung im Orden aufzeigen. Die Literaturlage ist besonders zu den zisterzienserischen Frauenkonventen im Spätmittelalter in Deutschland umfangreich. Meine Motivation beruht auf meinem Interesse, eine spezielle Lebensform von Frauen im Mittelalter zu erfahren, um die soziale und gesellschaftliche Lage der Frauen in den größeren sozialgeschichtlichen Kontext einordnen zu können. Waren Nonnen nicht sogar emanzipierter als ihre Zeitgenossinnen? Lebten sie nicht eine Lebensform, die bisher nur dem männlichen Geschlecht vorbehalten war? Meine Fragestellung zielt zuerst auf die Lebensentscheidung der Frauen und richtet sich dann auf ihre Stellung innerhalb des zisterzienserischen Ordens. Der Umgang mit der Beteiligung von Frauen in der Kirche war für die männlichen Kirchenvertreter nicht einfach. Aber auch die Nonnen hatten Schwierigkeiten, religiöse Regeln, die bisher für Männer ausgelegt waren, anzupassen. Wie weit reichten ihre Befugnisse in einer religiösen Welt, die bisher von Männern dominiert wurde?

Since the closing decades of the twentieth century, medieval women's writing has been the subject of energetic conversation and debate. This interest, however, has focused predominantly on western European writers working within the Christian tradition: the Saxon visionaries, Mechthild of Hackeborn, Mechthild of Magdeburg, Gertrude the Great, for example, and, in England, Julian of Norwich and Margery Kempe are cases in point. While this present book acknowledges the huge importance of such writers to women's literary history, it also argues that they should no longer be read solely within a local context. Instead, by putting them into conversation with other literary women and their cultures from wider geographical regions and global cultures - women from eastern Europe and their books, dramas and music; the Welsh gwraig llwyn a pherth (woman of bush and brake); the Indian mystic, Mirabai; Japanese women writers from the Heian period; women saints from across Christian Europe and those of eleventh-century Islam or late medieval Ethiopia; for instance - much more is to be gained in terms of our understanding of the drivers behind and expressions of medieval women's literary activities in far broader contexts. This volume considers the dialogue, synergies, contracts and resonances emerging from such new alignments, and to help a wider, multidirectional development of this enquiry into women's literary cultures.
