Book Synopsis Ada 95 Reference Manual. Language and Standard Libraries by : Tucker S. Taft
Download or read book Ada 95 Reference Manual. Language and Standard Libraries written by Tucker S. Taft and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-06-03 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Ada 95 Reference Manual is essentially identical to the new International Standard ISO/IEC 8652:1995(E) for the Ada programming language. The thorough technical revisions and extensions documented in this manual are built on broad participation from the international Ada community and generous support by leading institutions. Over 750 submitted revision requests were evaluated, and the resulting enhancements make Ada 95 an outstanding language. The flexibility of languages such as C++, modern features such as object orientation, and improved interfacing capabilities have been added to the reliable software engineering capabilities provided and proven for over a decade by the predecessor version Ada 83; furthermore, upward compatibility from Ada 83 to Ada 95 has been achieved.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The object oriented paradigm has become one of the dominant forces in the computing world. According to a recent survey, by the year 2000, more than 80% of development organizations are expected to use object technology as the basis for their distributed development strategies. Handbook of Object Technology encompasses the entire spectrum of disciplines and topics related to this rapidly expanding field - outlining emerging technologies, latest advances, current trends, new specifications, and ongoing research. The handbook divides into 13 sections, each containing chapters related to that specific discipline. Up-to-date, non-abstract information provides the reader with practical, useful knowledge - directly applicable to the understanding and improvement of the reader's job or the area of interest related to this technology. Handbook of Object Technology discusses: the processes, notation, and tools for classical OO methodologies as well as information on future methodologies prevalent and emerging OO languages standards and specifications frameworks and patterns databases metrics business objects intranets analysis/design tools client/server application development environments
Book Synopsis Ada for Multi-Microprocessors by : M. Tedd
Download or read book Ada for Multi-Microprocessors written by M. Tedd and published by CUP Archive. This book was released on 1984 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-processor systems are becoming more prevalent due to the many advantages which they offer over single-processor systems. A multi-microprocessor system can smoothly accommodate expansion and increasing levels of integration of separate controllers, facilitating modernization of industrial plants without large capital outlay. This book deals with the ways in which Ada can be used for such distributed systems. The main part of the book is devoted to the issue of how to construct and run an Ada program for a variable target configuration of several microcomputers, interconnected through shared memories, multi-access busses, local area networks or end-to-end lines. It is recognized that Ada and current Ada Programming Support Environments (APSEs) do not address distributed targets, and different approaches are therefore considered for coping with distribution without changing the language or unduly restricting the way in which it is used. The approach which emerges as the most natural is one where the designer is required to cluster tightly coupled Ada tasks into 'virtual nodes'. The implications of this approach for the user and the APSE are examined in detail, and further implications concerning use of the multi-microprocessor approach to achieve reliability and extensibility are also studied.

Book Synopsis Data Structures of Pascal, Algol 68, PL/1 and Ada by : Johan Lewi
Download or read book Data Structures of Pascal, Algol 68, PL/1 and Ada written by Johan Lewi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended as a text for a course in programming languages. The pre requisites for such a course are insight in structured programming and knowledge as well as practical experience of at least one (e.g., Pascal) of the programming languages treated in the book. The emphasis is on language concepts rather than on syntactic details. The book covers a number of important language concepts that are related to data struc tures. The comparison of the programming languages Pascal, Algol 68, PL/1 and Ada consists in investigating how these concepts are supported by each of these languages. Interesting evaluation criteria are generality, simplicity, safety, readability and portability. The study of programming languages is based on a simple model called SMALL. This model serves as a didactic vehicle for describing, comparing and evaluating data structures in various programming languages. Each chapter centers around a specific language concept. It consists of a general discussion followed by a number of language sections, one for each of the languages Pascal, Algol 68, PL/1 and Ada. Each of these sections contains a number of illustrating program fragments written in the programming language concerned. For each program fragment in one language, there is an analogous fragment in the others. The book can be read "vertically" so that the programming languages Pascal, Algol 68, PL/1 and Ada are encountered in that order several times. A "horizontal" reading of the book would consist in selecting only those sections which only concern one language.

Book Synopsis ECOOP '87. European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming by : Jean Bezivin
Download or read book ECOOP '87. European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming written by Jean Bezivin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-03-06 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In October 1983 an informal meeting was organized in Le Cap d'Agde with the help of the BIGRE bulletin. Sixty people turned out to hear more than ten presentations on object-oriented programming. More important was their unanimous demand for other, more structured encounters. So, about one year later, the Object group was created by AFCET. A second workshop was organized in Brest, and again one year later in Paris, each time showing increased attendance and interest. The success of these meetings and the fact that similar activities were taking place in other European countries, especially Great Britain and Germany, led to the idea of an annual European Conference, providing a forum for theorists and practitioners interested in the object-oriented programming paradigm. It is impossible to acknowledge here all the people and organizations that welcomed with great enthusiasm the birth of the ECOOP conference and contributed to its organization. More than a hundred submissions were received and the program committee had the unpleasant task of turning down many valuable contributions. We hope, however, that the selection of papers for ECOOP'87 emphasizes the fundamental issues and problems of object-oriented programming and will point toward interesting future research directions.
Download or read book Ada 2012 Rationale written by John Barnes and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-19 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ada 2012 is the latest version of the international standard for the programming language Ada. It is designated ISO/IEC 8652:2012 (E) and is a new edition replacing the 2005 version. The primary goals for the new version were to further enhance its capabilities particularly in those areas where its reliability and predictability are of great value. Many important new features have been included such as those defining dynamic contracts and for handling multiprocessors and are integrated within the existing language framework in an elegant and coherent manner. The Ada 2012 Rationale describes not only the changes from Ada 2005 but also the reason for the changes. It starts with an introduction providing a general overview and this is followed by seven chapters focusing on contracts and aspects; extended expressions; structure and visibility; tasking and real time; iterators and pools; predefined library and containers. The book concludes with an epilogue largely concerned with compatibility issues.

Book Synopsis Communicating Process Architectures 2008 by : P. H. Welch
Download or read book Communicating Process Architectures 2008 written by P. H. Welch and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communicating Process Architectures 2008 contains the proceedings of the thirty-first Communicating Process Architectures Conference (CPA 2008) organized under the auspices of WoTUG and the Department of Computer Science of the University of York. The aim of this book is to cover both theoretical aspects and industrial applications of Communicating Processes. Two invited speakers have given excellent contributions to this topic. Professor Samson Abramsky has worked in the areas of semantics and logic of computation, and concurrency. His work on game semantics considers interaction and information flow between multiple agents and their environment. This has yielded new approaches to compositional model-checking and to analysis for programs with state, concurrency, probability, and other features. Professor Colin O'Halloran has been instrumental in the uptake of formal methods in the development and verification of high assurance systems on an industrial scale. His research interests are in automating the use of formal methods and using these techniques at reasonable cost and on an industrial scale.
