Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Coun cil of the Territory offlorida, That from and after the fifteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and twenty three, it shall not be lawful for any stone horse or ass to run at large within the Territory offlo rida, and ifany stone horse or ass shall be found run: ning at large, it shall and may be lawful for any person to take up the same. And having taken him before the next justice ofthe peace for the county, by the permis sion of the said justice, may geld the same, taking care that the operation be performed by a person usually do ing such business, for which the person so gelding shall receive five dollars, to be paid by the owner of the.
