Book Synopsis Control and Prediction of Solid-State of Pharmaceuticals by : Rajni Miglani Bhardwaj
Download or read book Control and Prediction of Solid-State of Pharmaceuticals written by Rajni Miglani Bhardwaj and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-02 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigates a range of experimental and computational approaches for the discovery of solid forms. Furthermore, we gain, as readers, a better understanding of the key factors underpinning solid-structure and diversity. A major part of this thesis highlights experimental work carried out on two structurally very similar compounds. Another important section involves looking at the influence of small changes in structure and substituents on solid-structure and diversity using computational tools including crystal structure prediction, PIXEL calculations, Xpac, Mercury and statistical modeling tools. In addition, the author presents a fast validated method for solid-state form screening using Raman microscopy on multi-well plates to explore the experimental crystallization space. This thesis illustrates an inexpensive, practical and accurate way to predict the crystallizability of organic compounds based on molecular structure alone, and additionally highlights the molecular factors that inhibit or promote crystallization.

This full colour and logically structured book introduces the main areas of significance and provides a well-ordered and accessible introduction to multiple literatures outside the confines of disciplinary specializations, as well as including an extensive bibliography to provide context and further reading. For researchers, professionals entering the field or specialists looking for a coherent overview, this text brings together diverse perspectives to form a unified picture of the origin of life and the ongoing organization of the biosphere.

Book excerpt: This book covers the morphological characteristics, ethnopharmacological properties, isolated and identified structurally diverse secondary metabolites, biological and pharmacological activities of medicinal plants. Ethnopharmacology is the systematic study of folklore/traditional medicines, which continue to provide innovative drugs and lead molecules for the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, plant secondary metabolites, used as a single molecule or as a mixture, are medicines that can be effective and safe even when synthetic drugs fail. Therefore, the description of these secondary metabolites as well as methods for the targeted expression and/or purification is of high interest. In addition to surveying the morphological features, ethnopharmacological properties, biological and pharmacological activities, and studies of clinical trials, this book offers a comprehensive treatment of 56 plant species. It also presents the cell culture conditions and various methods used for increasing the production of medicinally important secondary metabolites in plant cell cultures. This volume: · Provides the morphological features, habitat, and distribution of each species of 56 genera selected from the different regions of the world. · Presents ethnopharmacological applications of various species of the 56 genera included in this book. Different species of 56 genera are used for ethnomedicinal uses by the people of various countries of the world. · Describes structures of various secondary metabolites identified in 56 plant species together with their biological and pharmacological activities. · Discusses strategies of secondary metabolites production, such as organ culture, pH, elicitation, hairy root cultures, light, and mutagenesis. · Provides a complete overview of each species of 56 genera and complete information up to 2022. Ethnopharmacological Properties, Biological Activity and Phytochemical Attributes of Medicinal Plants is an important book for undergraduate and postgraduate students, pharmacologists, phytochemists, Ayurvedic practitioners, medical doctors, and biotechnologists interested in the ethnopharmacological properties, phytochemistry, and biological and pharmacological activities of plants.

Book excerpt: The 3rd edition of Hormones offers a comprehensive treatment of the hormones of humans all viewed from the context of current theories of their action in the framework of our current understanding their physiological actions as well as their molecular structures, and those of their receptors. This new edition of Hormones is intended to be used by advanced undergraduates and graduate students in the biological sciences. It will also provide useful background information for first year medical students as they engage in studies which are increasingly problem-based rather than discipline-focused. As the field of endocrinology itself has expanded so much in the past two decades, the up to date presentation of the basics presented in this book will be a solid foundation on which more specialized considerations can be based. New to this Edition: Hormones, 3rd Edition is organized with two introductory chapters followed by 15 chapters on selected topics of the molecular biology of the major endocrine systems operative in humans. Coverage, for the first time of the following hormones; ghrelin, oxyntomodulin, kisspeptin, adrenomedullin, FGF23, erythropoietin, VIP and extended coverage of NO. Coverage of the hypothalamus has been integrated with the anterior pituitary because of the intimate functional and relationship between the two. Consideration of the role of hormones in cancer has been integrated into the chapters on the relevant hormones. Each of these areas occupies a unique niche in our understanding of the biological world and is part of the universality of signaling systems and how they govern biological systems. Organized with two introductory chapters, followed by 15 chapters on selected topics of the molecular biology of the major human endocrine systems New full color format includes over 300 full color, completely redrawn images Companion web site will host all images from the book as PPT slides and .jpeg files All chapters have been completely updated and revitalized.
