Download or read book Distributed Decision Making written by Christoph Schneeweiss and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-11-07 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distributed decision making (DDM) has become of increasing importance in quantitative decision analysis. In applications like supply chain management, service operations, or managerial accounting, DDM has led to a paradigm shift. The book provides a unified approach to such seemingly diverse fields as multi-level stochastic programming, hierarchical production planning, principal agent theory, negotiations or contract theory. Different settings like multi-level one-person decision problems, multi-person antagonistic planning, and leadership situations are covered. Numerous examples and real-life planning cases illustrate the concepts. The new edition has been considerably expanded by additional chapters on supply chain management, service operations and multi-agent systems.

Book Synopsis Hierarchies in Distributed Decision Making by : Christoph Schneeweiss
Download or read book Hierarchies in Distributed Decision Making written by Christoph Schneeweiss and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distributed decision making is described in this book from a hierarchical perspective. A unified approach allows to treat such seemingly diverse fields as multi-level decision making, hierarchical production planning, principal agent theory, hierarchical negotiations, and dynamic games within the framework of a general pair of functional equations. In doing so, the book covers the range from a multi-level one-person decision problem to a multi-person antagonistic planning and leadership situation. These general ideas are illustrated with numerous examples and real-life planning situations. In addition, the treatise provides a theoretical foundation for important problem areas in business administration such as hierarchical production planning, the problems of design and implementation, modern concepts in managerial accounting, and supply chain management.
Book Synopsis The Treasury 1660-1870 by : Henry Roseveare
Download or read book The Treasury 1660-1870 written by Henry Roseveare and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-07-25 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1973, this book provides an account of the Treasury’s early evolution within a clearly defined period, from its emergence as a department in the reign of Charles II to the point in 1870 when its powers and internal organization were comparatively mature. By taking this broad span of two centuries it is possible to set the Treasury’s development in perspective and concentrate on three main themes: the foundation of its unchallenged authority in the late 17th Century, the construction of a working relationship with Parliament, and its internal development as an efficient, professional organization. The documents, drawn from manuscript and at the time of original publication, little known printed sources, provide the first compact record of the landmarks in the Treasury’s early history.

Download or read book Work Smart Now written by Richard Polak and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2021-04-20 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From one of the top HR specialists in the world comes this much-needed guide to help people maximize productivity and increase revenue. Whether it’s in corporate America or in our own living rooms, people are wasting time. From the minute we wake up and check our Facebook page or emails—before we even crawl out of bed—to late at night when we stay up longer than we should, watching our favorite show. There’s a precise moment that falls between working enough hours to be productive and working too many hours, yielding a diminishing marginal return. The difference between the person able to master this and most Americans that fail miserably at it is quality of life! If one continues to work past this moment, a negative return will ensue, and that negative return produces guilt. It lowers the amount of time for recreational activities and spending time with family. We’ve siloed productivity to our work life, however; the impact on our personal life is often loss. An alarming 39% of workers in high-tech companies believe they are depressed, as reported by PC Magazine in December 2018. 72% of people who have daily stress and anxiety say it interferes with their lives—anxiety and stress alone have reduced productivity by 56%. More than 80% of people have experienced some form of anxiety, stress, or depression in the workplace. People are spending more time at work than at home or with their loved ones; or, if they are at home, they are working. They are always “on.” As a result of this disparity, people are not fully living their lives. And the “work-life balance” marketed by some HR consulting firms and employers simply does not work. It’s all work and no life! Studies have also proven that when people are unhappy in their personal lives or careers, their productivity goes down and everything and everyone around them suffers. This causes a domino effect, which trickles into every area of their lives. Previous generations used to say, “Work harder,” but we’ve now learned we must “work smarter.” Polak has practiced and tested his methods in hundreds of opportunities and has been paid millions by the largest corporations in the world to share these tools. He feels that every individual and business should have these tools, and will share them with us here.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A groundbreaking guide to making profitable business decisions Do you wonder why your value initiatives aren't providing the payoff you'd hoped for? Could it be because you've been thinking about value all wrong? According to the authors of this groundbreaking guide, there's a very good chance that you have. Using examples from leading companies worldwide, they explain why every decision a company makes either creates value or detracts from it, and why, if they hope to survive and thrive in today's increasingly competitive global marketplace, company leaders must make value-creation the centrepiece of every business decision. Authors Kaiser and Young have dubbed this approach "Blue-Line Management," (BLM), and in this entertaining, highly accessible book, they delineate BLM principles and practices and show you how to implement them in your company. Explains why the failure to properly define and assess value often makes it difficult for the people who manage businesses to effect long-term success Offers guidelines for making the satisfaction of customer needs and wants—i.e. value creation—the driver of all business activities The authors are respected academics at INSEAD, the world's largest and most respected graduate business school, with campuses in Europe, Asia and the Middle East
