Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is meant to provide an overview of and gather the literature on abortion -- one of the most divisive issues of our times. Honest women and men the world over must deal with this issue in their hearts and minds whether or not they ever face the issue personally. It is hard to conceive of a single thinking person who doesn't have an opinion on abortion -- usually strongly held. The arguments are cogent on both sides of the issue. We hope that this collection will bring to the attention of readers the publications which shed light on the fundamental issues involved.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over 3 million copies sold! Essential reading for Catholics of all walks of life. Here it is - the first new Catechism of the Catholic Church in more than 400 years, a complete summary of what Catholics around the world commonly believe. The Catechism draws on the Bible, the Mass, the Sacraments, Church tradition and teaching, and the lives of saints. It comes with a complete index, footnotes and cross-references for a fuller understanding of every subject. The word catechism means "instruction" - this book will serve as the standard for all future catechisms. Using the tradition of explaining what the Church believes (the Creed), what she celebrates (the Sacraments), what she lives (the Commandments), and what she prays (the Lord's Prayer), the Catechism of the Catholic Church offers challenges for believers and answers for all those interested in learning about the mystery of the Catholic faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a positive, coherent and contemporary map for our spiritual journey toward transformation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The abortion debate in the United States is confused. Ratings-driven media coverage highlights extreme views and creates the illusion that we are stuck in a hopeless stalemate. In this book Charles Camosy argues that our polarized public discourse hides the fact that most Americans actually agree on the major issues at stake in abortion morality and law. Unpacking the complexity of the abortion issue, Camosy shows that placing oneself on either side of the typical polarizations -- pro-life vs. pro-choice, liberal vs. conservative, Democrat vs. Republican -- only serves to further confuse the debate and limits our ability to have fruitful dialogue. Camosy then proposes a new public policy that he believes is consistent with the beliefs of the broad majority of Americans and supported by the best ideas and arguments about abortion from both secular and religious sources.

Book excerpt: You never thought you would be in the situation of having an abortion, and once it’s over the pain is still there. But God has not left you because of this one action. Abortion to Mercy will help you heal and move past the pain and hurt. What happens after an abortion? When you can’t go back and change the past, is there forgiveness or spiritual recovery? God still has a plan for you. There is always forgiveness and freedom when you turn to Jesus. This booklet includes the story of Marcie Schneider, a woman who hid the dark secret of an abortion, a pain she had to endure alone. Let Marcie’s counseling bring healing to you as she shares her story of redemption. Abortion to Mercy includes a Bible study by Paige Henderson that highlights the mercy that Christ has on us, despite sins we’ve committed. We don’t always understand his love and forgiveness for us, which makes it hard for us to love and forgive others. Paige shows you verses from the Bible that will give you wisdom and hope for God’s plan for your life. Abortion to Mercy will speak to your heart and will strengthen your faith. It includes questions and Scripture passages along with space for journaling.

It proposes model legislation to prevent abuse and neglect of the medically vulnerable and dependent, and in a piercing and insightful manner, Fr. Barry critically evaluates many contemporary views on these topics, arguing forcefully for a reappraisal of many popular views on these topics.

Book excerpt: Abby Johnson thought she knew what mercy was when she ushered desperate women toward abortion as the director of a Planned Parenthood facility. She was wrong. It wasn't until she understood the blood on her hands that she personally experienced the power of God's fierce yet tender mercy to transform her life. But she never imagined what could happen once she allowed that very mercy to infiltrate her life and spill out into a hurting world. In Fierce Mercy, Abby calls you to experience a transformation of your own. Against the backdrop of her first decade involved in the pro-life movement, Abby helps you discover God's unrestrained mercy at work in your own life and take steps toward becoming a channel of that life-changing mercy in the world around you. She shows you how to model God's mercy, freely offer mercy to those who seem undeserving, respond with mercy when others err or offend, and bear witness to God's unrestrained compassion so that others may know him. This is Abby's challenge to you: dare to do what is hard, what is right, and what is good. And do all of it in love.

Book excerpt: Few are aware of the suffering abortion causes. Countless women and men are suffering in lonely silence from grief, guilt and depression. Many think they are the only one suffering. They are not alone. The author will describe how the deep grief and imagined guilt she experienced from the sudden death of her mother when she was seven (someone said she wore her mother out) led her to found After Abortion Helpline - one of the earliest services created for post abortion sufferers. The idea of post abortion pain started in her as a hunch, at her son's graduation from Harvard in 1982, after Mother Teresa of Calcutta gave the Class Day talk. Several events or "markings of mercy" followed, including an abortion doctor's words: "I hate Christians because they know they are forgiven and I know God will never forgive me for what I do," and a friend's experience at an HMO being asked if she wanted to end her pregnancy. Similar events plus articles and stories that kept coming her way, drew her by the grace of God into the mystery of forgiveness for abortion. Her purpose for sharing her pain and much about her life is to encourage those who are experiencing guilt and grief from abortion to seek healing and forgiveness, and find hope for their future. The book describes the creation of After Abortion Helpline, a free, anonymous, non-sectarian telephone helpline staffed by trained volunteers, how it was founded, staffed and operated, and some of the stories of those who called the Helpline. It includes a chapter titled "If you want to help a friend" who confides in you their abortion story, and information from literature and several post abortion conferences, and data from calls to the Helpline
