Book Synopsis Introduction to Algebraic and Abelian Functions by : Serge Lang
Download or read book Introduction to Algebraic and Abelian Functions written by Serge Lang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Algebraic and Abelian Functions is a self-contained presentation of a fundamental subject in algebraic geometry and number theory. For this revised edition, the material on theta functions has been expanded, and the example of the Fermat curves is carried throughout the text. This volume is geared toward a second-year graduate course, but it leads naturally to the study of more advanced books listed in the bibliography.

Book Synopsis Abelian Functions by : Henry Frederick Baker
Download or read book Abelian Functions written by Henry Frederick Baker and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1995-12-14 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical algebraic geometry, inseparably connected with the names of Abel, Riemann, Weierstrass, Poincaré, Clebsch, Jacobi and other outstanding mathematicians of the last century, was mainly an analytical theory. In our century it has been enriched by the methods and ideas of topology, commutative algebra and Grothendieck's schemes seemed to have replaced once and forever the somewhat naive language of classical algebraic geometry. This book contains more than its modest title suggests. Written in 1897, its scope was as broad as it could possibly be, namely to cover the whole of algebraic geometry, and associated theories. The subject is discussed by Baker in terms of transcendental functions, and in particular theta functions. Many of the ideas put forward are of continuing relevance today, and some of the most exciting ideas from theoretical physics draw on work presented here.

Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis in Phase Space. (AM-122), Volume 122 by : Gerald B. Folland
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis in Phase Space. (AM-122), Volume 122 written by Gerald B. Folland and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the first coherent account of the area of analysis that involves the Heisenberg group, quantization, the Weyl calculus, the metaplectic representation, wave packets, and related concepts. This circle of ideas comes principally from mathematical physics, partial differential equations, and Fourier analysis, and it illuminates all these subjects. The principal features of the book are as follows: a thorough treatment of the representations of the Heisenberg group, their associated integral transforms, and the metaplectic representation; an exposition of the Weyl calculus of pseudodifferential operators, with emphasis on ideas coming from harmonic analysis and physics; a discussion of wave packet transforms and their applications; and a new development of Howe's theory of the oscillator semigroup.

Moreover, the volume is a superior source of supplementary readingfor graduate-level courses in dynamic systems and application of number theory .
Book Synopsis Acoustic Signal Processing for Ocean Exploration by : J.M.F Moura
Download or read book Acoustic Signal Processing for Ocean Exploration written by J.M.F Moura and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 671 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acoustic Signal Processing for Ocean Explortion has two major goals: (i) to present signal processing algorithms that take into account the models of acoustic propagation in the ocean and; (ii) to give a perspective of the broad set of techniques, problems, and applications arising in ocean exploration. The book discusses related issues and problems focused in model based acoustic signal processing methods. Besides addressing the problem of the propagation of acoustics in the ocean, it presents relevant acoustic signal processing methods like matched field processing, array processing, and localization and detection techniques. These more traditional contexts are herein enlarged to include imaging and mapping, and new signal representation models like time/frequency and wavelet transforms. Several applied aspects of these topics, such as the application of acoustics to fisheries, sea floor swath mapping by swath bathymetry and side scan sonar, autonomous underwater vehicles and communications in underwater are also considered.

Download or read book Multivariate Approximation Theory III written by SCHEMPP and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fourth International Symposium on Multivariate Approximation Theory was held at the Oberwolfach Mathematical Research Insti tute, Black Forest, W.-Germany, during the week of January 20 - 26, 1985. The preceding conferences on this topic were held in 1976, 1979, and 1982 * . We were pleased to have more than 50 mathematicians from 13 countries in attendance. The program in cluded 40 lectures. These Proceedings form a record of most of the papers presented at the Symposium. The topics treated cover different problems on multivariate approximation such as polynomial approximation on simplices, multivariate splines (box-splines, dimension of spline spaces), blending methods, multivariate Hermite interpolation, data smoothing and surface representation, and multivariate summation methods. We would like to thank the director of the Oberwolfach Mathe matical Research Institute, Prof. Dr. M. Barner, and his staff for providing the facilities. Of the people who gave their time to help make this conference a success, we would like to mention in particular Prof. Dr. F.J. Delvos (Siegen), Dr. G. Baszenski (College Station, Texas), and Dipl.-Math. H. Nienhaus (Siegen). Finally, our thanks are due to Carl Einsele of Birkhauser Publishers for his valuable cooperation.
