Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Breeding Focus 2021 - Improving reproduction" is the fourth workshop in the series. The Breeding Focus series was developed to provide an opportunity for exchange between industry and research across a number of agricultural industry sectors. Reproduction is a main economic driver for profitability and genetic gain. Successful reproduction is a complex characteristic comprising the formation of reproductive cells, successful mating and fertilisation, embryonic and fetal growth and eventually a successful birthing event. In livestock species, reproduction traits have mostly low heritabilities, which makes it challenging to improve reproduction as part of a multiple trait breeding objective. The complexity arises not just from the cascade of processes required to result in successful reproduction, but the relevant traits are different in males and females and they are influenced through health and fitness, nutrition, climate and other environmental and management factors.

Book Synopsis Bacteria from Fish and Other Aquatic Animals by : Nicky B. Buller
Download or read book Bacteria from Fish and Other Aquatic Animals written by Nicky B. Buller and published by CABI. This book was released on 2004 with total page 361 pages. New organisms, be they pathogens, environmental, normal flora, or potential probiotics, are being described and reported each month. This has resulted due to increases in aquaculture research, in intensive fish farming systems, and in the international trade of live aquatic animals and products as well as the emergence of new diseases. This manual provides a source that enables the identification of bacteria that may be found in animals (particularly fish) that inhabit the aquatic environment. The emphasis is on bacteria from farmed aquatic animals.

COASTAL MANAGEMENT IN AUSTRALIA is the first book to provide a comprehensive overview of this important subject. Interesting case studies are used to illustrate human impact on coastal processes as well as demonstrating the global significance of the coast and the international imperative to manage it properly. COASTAL MANAGEMENT IN AUSTRALIA introduces the background to the various coastal management systems operating in Australia and illustrates these with 'real world' examples from the different states and territories. Since this book was first published yet another parliamentary inquiry has been added to some 30 years of national inquiries into coastal management, with further calls for national co-ordination. In addition, the Australian government has focused attention on the potential risks of climate change for the Australian coast. Both authors have national and international coastal expertise; significant academic teaching experience in coastal processes and coastal management; coastal planning and policy skills; and have extensive government expertise in coastal management.
