This book was released on with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God’s first and primal work is the Creation of the universe. Creation constitutes the fundamental and essential postulate of all being and operation in the natural order as well as of all supernatural institutions, such as the Incarnation, Grace, the Sacraments, etc. Hence, the dogmatic treatise De Deo Creante et Elevante, which forms the subject matter of this volume, views God as the Author of Nature and the Supernatural. A true idea of Creation is indispensable to deepen and perfect the conception of God gained from the two preceding treatises. Aeterna Press

Book Synopsis On the Grace of Christ, and on Original Sin by : Saint Augustine
Download or read book On the Grace of Christ, and on Original Sin written by Saint Augustine and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-06-08 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Augustine, the man with upturned eye, with pen in the left hand, and a burning heart in the right (as he is usually represented), is a philosophical and theological genius of the first order, towering like a pyramid above his age, and looking down commandingly upon succeeding centuries. He had a mind uncommonly fertile and deep, bold and soaring; and with it, what is better, a heart full of Christian love and humility. He stands of right by the side of the greatest philosophers of antiquity and of modern times. We meet him alike on the broad highways and the narrow footpaths, on the giddy Alpine heights and in the awful depths of speculation, wherever philosophical thinkers before him or after him have trod. As a theologian he is facile princeps, at least surpassed by no church father, schoolman, or reformer. With royal munificence he scattered ideas in passing, which have set in mighty motion other lands and later times. He combined the creative power of Tertullian with the churchly spirit of Cyprian, the speculative intellect of the Greek church with the practical tact of the Latin. He was a Christian philosopher and a philosophical theologian to the full.

Book Synopsis Dirk Philips, A Sixteenth-Century Dutch Anabaptist by : Insung Jeon
Download or read book Dirk Philips, A Sixteenth-Century Dutch Anabaptist written by Insung Jeon and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-03-18 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to shed light on the thought of Dirk Philips, who was a Mennonite leader in the sixteenth century, and to argue that his various doctrines, including his Christology, ecclesiology, soteriology, and anthropology, are interrelated with his view of the visible church. This book explains that Dirk Philips' view of the visible church is much closer to the ecclesiology of Augustine's tradition rather than to the ecclesiology of the Donatists' tradition. Although Dirk Philips had excellent theological abilities and he was a leader who made a significant contribution to the development of the Mennonites camp, he did not receive much attention in the study of Anabaptists, and there has not been much research on this sixteenth-century Mennonite leader. Thus, this book will help you discover a great sixteenth-century leader who has been forgotten in church history. Is it true that the Radical Reformers are disciples of Donatus, that the Anabaptists thought that the failed believers cannot be forgiven because the church is a gathering of pure souls? This book will probe the idea that the Radical Reformation is closer to the ecclesiology of Augustine's tradition than to the ecclesiology of the Donatists' tradition.
Book Synopsis A Treatise on the Merits and Forgiveness of Sins and on the Baptism of Infants by : Saint Augustine of Hippo
Download or read book A Treatise on the Merits and Forgiveness of Sins and on the Baptism of Infants written by Saint Augustine of Hippo and published by Aeterna Press. This book was released on with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Necessity arose which compelled me to write against the new heresy of Pelagius. Our previous opposition to it was confined to sermons and conversations, as occasions suggested, and according to our respective abilities and duties; but it had not yet assumed the shape of a controversy in writing. Certain questions were then submitted to me [by our brethren] at Carthage, to which I was to send them back answers in writing; I accordingly wrote first of all three books, under the title “On the Merits and Forgiveness of Sins,” in which I mainly discussed the baptism of infants because of original sin, and the grace of God by which we are justified, that is, made righteous; but [I remarked] no man in this life can so keep the commandments which prescribe holiness of life, as to be beyond the necessity of using this prayer for his sins: “Forgive us our trespasses.” It is in direct opposition to these principles that they have devised their new heresy.
