Book Synopsis Mitigation of Negative Impedance Instabilities in DC Distribution Systems by : Deepak Kumar Fulwani
Download or read book Mitigation of Negative Impedance Instabilities in DC Distribution Systems written by Deepak Kumar Fulwani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the mitigation of the destabilizing effects introduced by constant power loads (CPLs) in various non-isolated DC/DC converters and island DC microgrids using a robust non-linear sliding mode control (SMC) approach. This book validates theoretical concepts using real-time simulation studies and hardware implementations. Novel sliding mode controllers are proposed to mitigate negative impedance instabilities in DC/DC boost, buck, buck-boost, bidirectional buck-boost converters, and islanded DC microgrids. In each case, the condition for the large-signal stability of the converter feeding a CPL is established. An SMC-based nonlinear control scheme for an islanded DC microgrid feeding CPL dominated load is proposed so as to mitigate the destabilizing effect of CPL and to ensure system stability under various operating conditions. A limit on CPL power is also established to ensure system stability. For all proposed solutions, simulation studies and hardware implementations are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed sliding mode controllers.

Book excerpt: This book serves as a single-source reference to Current Conveyors and their use in modern Analog Circuit Design. The authors describe the various types of current conveyors discovered over the past 45 years, details of all currently available, off-the-shelf integrated circuit current conveyors, and implementations of current conveyors using other, off-the-shelf IC building blocks. Coverage includes prominent bipolar/CMOS/Bi-CMOS architectures of current conveyors, as well as all varieties of starting from third generation current conveyors to universal current conveyors, their implementations and applications. •Describes all commercially available off-the-shelf IC current conveyors, as well as hardware implementations of current conveyors using other off-the-shelf ICs; • Describes numerous variants of current conveyors evolved over the past forty five years; • Describes a number of Bipolar/CMOS/Bi-CMOS architectures of current conveyors, along with their characteristic features; • Includes a comprehensive collection of over 400 application circuits using current conveyors; • Provides an exhaustive catalogue of current conveyor-based circuits for a variety of applications, including instrumentation amplifiers, precision rectifiers, simulated inductors, filters, sinusoidal oscillators, waveform generators, chaos generators, analog multipliers/dividers, memristive emulators and numerous others.
Book Synopsis Op Amps for Everyone by : Ron Mancini
Download or read book Op Amps for Everyone written by Ron Mancini and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2003 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The operational amplifier ("op amp") is the most versatile and widely used type of analog IC, used in audio and voltage amplifiers, signal conditioners, signal converters, oscillators, and analog computing systems. Almost every electronic device uses at least one op amp. This book is Texas Instruments' complete professional-level tutorial and reference to operational amplifier theory and applications. Among the topics covered are basic op amp physics (including reviews of current and voltage division, Thevenin's theorem, and transistor models), idealized op amp operation and configuration, feedback theory and methods, single and dual supply operation, understanding op amp parameters, minimizing noise in op amp circuits, and practical applications such as instrumentation amplifiers, signal conditioning, oscillators, active filters, load and level conversions, and analog computing. There is also extensive coverage of circuit construction techniques, including circuit board design, grounding, input and output isolation, using decoupling capacitors, and frequency characteristics of passive components. The material in this book is applicable to all op amp ICs from all manufacturers, not just TI. Unlike textbook treatments of op amp theory that tend to focus on idealized op amp models and configuration, this title uses idealized models only when necessary to explain op amp theory. The bulk of this book is on real-world op amps and their applications; considerations such as thermal effects, circuit noise, circuit buffering, selection of appropriate op amps for a given application, and unexpected effects in passive components are all discussed in detail. *Published in conjunction with Texas Instruments *A single volume, professional-level guide to op amp theory and applications *Covers circuit board layout techniques for manufacturing op amp circuits.

Book Synopsis Analog Electronic Filters by : Hercules G. Dimopoulos
Download or read book Analog Electronic Filters written by Hercules G. Dimopoulos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-18 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Filters are essential subsystems in a huge variety of electronic systems. Filter applications are innumerable; they are used for noise reduction, demodulation, signal detection, multiplexing, sampling, sound and speech processing, transmission line equalization and image processing, to name just a few. In practice, no electronic system can exist without filters. They can be found in everything from power supplies to mobile phones and hard disk drives and from loudspeakers and MP3 players to home cinema systems and broadband Internet connections. This textbook introduces basic concepts and methods and the associated mathematical and computational tools employed in electronic filter theory, synthesis and design. This book can be used as an integral part of undergraduate courses on analog electronic filters. Includes numerous, solved examples, applied examples and exercises for each chapter. Includes detailed coverage of active and passive filters in an independent but correlated manner. Emphasizes real filter design from the outset. Uses a rigorous but simplified approach to theoretical concepts and reinforces understanding through real design examples. Presents necessary theoretical background and mathematical formulations for the design of passive and active filters in a natural manner that makes the use of standard tables and nomographs unnecessary and superfluous even in the most mystifiying case of elliptic filters. Uses a step-by-step presentation for all filter design procedures and demonstrates these in numerous example applications. .
