Is service more important than family? What about the perfection of God's work? Who is the matching assistant? In fact, the hardest question about how God works - does God need human help? All these questions are revealed as we contemplate the rich and beautiful Book of Genesis. May the devotionals presented in the form of this short writing will help the readers to enjoy the freshness of God’s word every day. May God be more glorified through this simple work.

Book excerpt: Servant Church is about the Values of the Church of Philippi, which is located in one of the cities of greater Baltimore and Washington metropolitan area. This book is primarily about the church’s Ten Values, which are not to be compromised, along with its mission, vision, strategies, structures, and programs related to the values. The Ten Values are only (through redemption of) Jesus, servanthood, precious one, shepherding first, process centered, lay ministry oriented, harmonizing of message and system, small-group accented, walking the talks, and all encompassing grace. Started as a Korean diaspora faith community, Church of Philippi held its inaugural service in a leased warehouse building on October 31, 1993, in Columbia, Maryland, USA. Back then, not many of the Korean immigrant population took residences there. Yet the Lord made the church grow both in lives transformed and in size enlarged for last twenty-two years. Reflection on church expansion histories (early Jerusalem church, Antioch’s Jewish diaspora churches, Moravians church in the eighteenth century, American and English churches during the great awakening movements in nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and churches of Latin America, Africa, and Asia in recent decades) teaches reflectioners valuable lessons in that they see the wisdom and power of well-thought-out values of the message, the church, and the culture that they were in. Of course what has been done was by the wisdom and power of the Holy Spirit. Yet the Bible teaches us that the wisdom that the Holy Spirit demonstrated is written in it so that we, who came later, may be able to learn from the teachings and then follow after the Holy Spirit. If they were not followed, the church was not able to accomplish the great commission of the Lord as was desired. If followed, the church always prevailed against the power of the gate of Hades. For thirty some years, the author has been a reflectioner and an agonizer over the present plight of the powerless church in the postmodern world and its values. With the invaluable learnings from the Bible and histories of the churches, along with their surrounding cultures, he was able to establish the Ten Values that can unleash the power of a prevailing church. May all the readers of the book find a road map that leads an unprepared church planter, like the author once was, to build a church that prevails against the power of the gate of the Hades (Matt. 16:18). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18, Holy Bible, English Standard Version (2001), Wheaton: Standard Bible Society).

Book excerpt: Some of the world’s foremost thought leaders consider the role of leadership, love, and power in the midst of political and social upheaval. In a world where organizations and leaders face conflicts and complexity at an alarming rate, where human cruelty sometimes dominates kindness in individuals and families, and where nations hover in the shadow of moral and financial collapse, how do we find courage to forge a strong and enduring path into the future? In this book, fourteen of the world’s foremost thought leaders consider the role of leadership, love, and power in the midst of political and social upheaval. Included are interviews with former president of the Philippines Corazon Aquino; servant-leaders Margaret Wheatley, Ken Blanchard, George Zimmer, and James Autry; and others. They engage the significant leadership questions of our time and reveal an uncommon and life-affirming path toward families, organizations, and nations imbued with generosity and meaning. Shann Ray Ferch is Professor of Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University and author of Forgiveness and Power in the Age of Atrocity: Servant-Leadership as a Way of Life. He is also the editor of the International Journal of Servant-Leadership. Larry C. Spears is CEO of the Spears Center for Servant-Leadership. His many books include The Spirit of Servant-Leadership, coedited with Ferch. Mary McFarland is Director of Jesuit Commons: Higher Education at the Margins.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not many industry revolutions begin with a typical married couple who risk everything to do something they've never done before. But that is exactly what Art and Lori Barter did in 2004 when they purchased Datron World Communications. The husband and wife knew everything about the power of strong values and the lack of values in modern corporations, but nothing about running a large-scale business that was -- at the time -- losing money. It was a test of faith and perseverance unlike any other. Everything from financial security to spiritual fulfillment was on the line. The Art of Servant Leadership II instructs modern business leaders on how to transform their businesses to servant-led organizations that prioritize integrity over profitability and never-ending quests to accumulate power. By integrating the servant-led paradigm into their inner lives and professional thinking, today's leaders can revolutionize heartless corporate strategies that reward the few at the expense of the many. Today, Datron World Communications is a multimillion-dollar, multicultural, international company with customers in more than eighty countries. That success is the result of the lessons taught in The Art of Servant Leadership II and proof that serving others with compassion and humility brings unprecedented rewards.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book both answers a significant question and it illustrates (gives visual evidence to) that answer. The question is, is there freedom in servitude, or can one truly be FREE, while living a life of or serving in positions or situations of servitude? I have unequivocally found and concluded that answer to be YES! The title of this book, Always a Servant, Never a Slave, reflects the required spirit (identity and attitude), heart, mind-set (perspective) and demonstrated faithfulness, that one must possess, while functioning as a Willing Servant (of God). True freedom is realized and acquired (possessed), through our awareness (and realization) of the greater reality of our spiritual: existence, purpose, and divine assignments. This affords (you and I) supernatural strength that allows and empowers us to overcome, conquer, and transcend any/all physical and negative circumstances (experience) in life, as we continue to faithfully move toward fulfilling our purpose and destiny. To illustrate the validity of my answer to the aforementioned question, I have reflected upon quite a number of my personal assignments (out of the millions of opportunities that God has given me). Additionally, it's no coincidence, that as I am typing this Cover , when the movie HARRIET has just debuted, which reflects the life, sacrifices, service and legacy of HARRIET TUBMAN. She is another great Example of someone who embodied this Same Spirit! Now, as YOU choose to Embrace and keep your eyes on that prize, of fulfilling Your GOD-GIVEN PURPOSE, regardless of your background, past experiences, limitations/struggles, location or circumstances-you (too), can be FREE to be the willing servant that HE created you to BE. ALWAYS A SERVANT, NEVER A SLAVE

We’ve all seen the negative impact of self-serving leaders in every sector of our society. Not infrequently, they end up bringing down their entire organization. But there is another way: servant leadership. Servant leaders lead by serving their people, not by exalting themselves. This collection features forty-four renowned servant leadership experts and practitioners—prominent business executives, bestselling authors, and respected spiritual leaders—who offer advice and tools for implementing this proven, but for some still radical, leadership model. Edited by legendary business author and lifelong servant leader Ken Blanchard and his longtime editor Renee Broadwell, this is the most comprehensive and wide-ranging guide ever published for what is, in every sense, a better way to lead. “Renowned expert Ken Blanchard with Renee Broadwell have assembled the insights of dozens of successful leaders in their new book Servant Leadership In Action. I doubt you will find any book or course on leadership that delivers a more on-target message of the essential element critical to being a truly great leader. Get a copy. Read it. Be it.” —Miami Herald “A comprehensive and inspiring book presented as a servant leadership primer, action plan and how-to guide, then concludes with proof of effectiveness and inspiration to go forward. The wide-ranging yet related topics covered in Servant Leadership In Action is part of what makes the book so valuable. I am sure it will quickly become a must-have resource for leaders, both emerging and established.” —Being Fully Present
