Book excerpt: A Serpentine Path: Mysteries of the Goddess is Carol P. Christ’s moving memoir of her journey from death to rebirth and regeneration, culminating on the first Goddess Pilgrimage to Crete. Having left behind the male God of traditional religion who rules the world from outside it, Christ hopes that the Goddess can help her manifest her heart’s desires. Deeply disappointed, she discovers the Goddess as a personal presence who is always with her and every other individual in the world, but whose power is not omnipotence. The mystery of the Goddess is revealed at the ancient site of Kato Zakros in Crete as the dance of life: a serpentine path with no beginning and no end, into the darkness, into the light, and back again. Thea-logy, reflection on the meaning of Goddess, emerges from and takes root in a woman’s embodied experience, inspiring others to join the dance.

Book Synopsis Jung's Red Book For Our Time by : Murray Stein
Download or read book Jung's Red Book For Our Time written by Murray Stein and published by Chiron Publications. This book was released on 2021-09-25 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edited by Murray Stein and Thomas Arzt, the essays in the series Jung's Red Book for Our Time: Searching for Soul under Postmodern Conditions are geared to the recognition that the posthumous publication of The Red Book: Liber Novus by C.G. Jung in 2009 was a meaningful gift to our contemporary world. The Red Book can be considered as a contribution to the "Golden Chain" (aurea catena) of the world's imaginative literature reaching back to the ancient Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh. As Jung describes this tradition in a letter to Max Rychner, "Faust is the most recent pillar in that bridge of the spirit which spans the morass of world history, beginning with the Gilgamesh epic, the I Ching, the Upanishads, the Tao-te-Ching, the fragments of Heraclitus, and continuing in the Gospel of St. John, the letters of St. Paul, in Meister Eckhart and in Dante." The Red Book extends the "Golden Chain" into our era. Each of the 18 essays in this third volume of the series, Jung's Red Book for Our Time, is unique, and all of them converge on the central theme of the relevance of The Red Book for people today in search of soul under postmodern conditions. This is the third volume of a multi-volume series set up on a global and multicultural level and includes essays from the following distinguished Jungian analysts and scholars:
Book Synopsis Warehousing in the Global Supply Chain by : Riccardo Manzini
Download or read book Warehousing in the Global Supply Chain written by Riccardo Manzini and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-04 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increased globalization and offshore sourcing, global supply chain management is becoming an important issue for many businesses as it involves a company's worldwide interests and suppliers rather than simply a local or national orientation. The storage systems significantly affect the level of quality of products, the customer’s service level, and the global logistic cost. The mission of warehousing systems design, control and optimization is to effectively ship products in the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantity (i.e. in any configuration) without any damages or alterations, and minimizing costs. Warehousing in the Global Supply Chain presents and discusses a set of models, tools and real applications, including a few case studies rarely presented with a sufficient detail by other literature, to illustrate the main challenges in warehousing activities. This includes all warehouse operations (from receiving to shipping), problems and issues (e.g. storage allocation, assignment, layout, vehicle routing) for industrial and service systems as parts of global supply chains. Advanced and effective solving methods are also illustrated and the discussed case studies help the reader to quickly apply the proposed models and techniques/algorithms. Warehousing in the Global Supply Chain is useful to managers and practitioners of industry and service sectors for the determination and modeling of the critical issues concerning warehousing systems planning and design. It is a valuable source of information for engineering students, doctoral and post-doctoral students, and researchers of academic institutions who are searching for advanced modeling approaches and solving techniques to complex logistic decision making problems. Download or read book Gas Heating written by Jason Obrzut, CMHE and published by ESCO Press. This book was released on 2019-01-01 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Depending on what part of the country that you reside in, gas-burning heating systems can be either an absolute necessity or a rarity. For those that maintain, service and install gas heating systems or those just looking for a more in-depth source of accurate information, this modular training program focuses on furnaces and boilers that burn natural gas or LP. The combustion of gas to generate heat can be dangerous and should be thoroughly understood by HVAC technicians. This program covers many facets of gas heating including: combustion, system components and controls, heating sequences, installation, and troubleshooting. Through advancements in technology, modern heating systems have become far more efficient than their predecessors. Integrated circuit boards and electronic ignition systems have replaced the mechanical controls and manually lit pilots of older systems. Today, technicians may encounter furnaces or boilers that are older than they are, complex high-efficient systems, or anything in between. It is critical that they have a working knowledge of all these systems. This manual provides students and practicing technicians with the information and knowledge necessary to safely work on systems that incorporate gas combustion to provide heat. The information to service, maintain, and install these systems is also presented in an easy-to-understand format. The manual is full of color images and diagrams and includes end-of-chapter worksheets. Gas Heating was written to be a primary text that focuses specifically on gas-burning heating systems which can be used as a stand-alone text or a supplement to your current text book.

Book Synopsis Ordering the Heavens by : Bruce Eastwood
Download or read book Ordering the Heavens written by Bruce Eastwood and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2007-09-30 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The astronomy of the Carolingian era has commonly been represented as concerned exclusively with computus, the science of calendar construction as well as arithmetical calculation in general. This volume shows the error of that portrayal by exploring the study and teaching of four Roman texts on astronomy and cosmology in the Carolingian world and the diagrams connected to those texts. As each of these works came into use over the Carolingian era, its contributions merged into a progressively more ordered picture of the heavens. Both eccentrics and epicycles appeared by the 840s. These techniques were subsequently introduced clearly and qualitatively to complete the Carolingian enterprise. The primary tool for understanding this effort is the analysis of their diagrams. Book Synopsis Goddess and God in the World by : Carol P. Christ
Download or read book Goddess and God in the World written by Carol P. Christ and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2016-08-01 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Goddess and God in the World, leading theologians Carol P. Christ and Judith Plaskow debate the nature of divinity, proposing a new method called embodied theology. They agree that the transcendent, omnipotent male God of traditional theology must be reimagined. Carol proposes that Goddess is the intelligent embodied love that is in all being. Judith counters that God is an impersonal power of creativity that includes both good and evil. Rooting their views in experience and questioning each other, they offer a fruitful model of theological conversation across difference.
