Download or read book A Real Variable Method for the Cauchy Transform, and Analytic Capacity written by Takafumi Murai and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research monograph studies the Cauchy transform on curves with the object of formulating a precise estimate of analytic capacity. The note is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is a review of the Calderón commutator. In the second chapter, a real variable method for the Cauchy transform is given using only the rising sun lemma. The final and principal chapter uses the method of the second chapter to compare analytic capacity with integral-geometric quantities. The prerequisites for reading this book are basic knowledge of singular integrals and function theory. It addresses specialists and graduate students in function theory and in fluid dynamics.

Book Synopsis Analytic Capacity, the Cauchy Transform, and Non-homogeneous Calderón–Zygmund Theory by : Xavier Tolsa
Download or read book Analytic Capacity, the Cauchy Transform, and Non-homogeneous Calderón–Zygmund Theory written by Xavier Tolsa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-16 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies some of the groundbreaking advances that have been made regarding analytic capacity and its relationship to rectifiability in the decade 1995–2005. The Cauchy transform plays a fundamental role in this area and is accordingly one of the main subjects covered. Another important topic, which may be of independent interest for many analysts, is the so-called non-homogeneous Calderón-Zygmund theory, the development of which has been largely motivated by the problems arising in connection with analytic capacity. The Painlevé problem, which was first posed around 1900, consists in finding a description of the removable singularities for bounded analytic functions in metric and geometric terms. Analytic capacity is a key tool in the study of this problem. In the 1960s Vitushkin conjectured that the removable sets which have finite length coincide with those which are purely unrectifiable. Moreover, because of the applications to the theory of uniform rational approximation, he posed the question as to whether analytic capacity is semiadditive. This work presents full proofs of Vitushkin’s conjecture and of the semiadditivity of analytic capacity, both of which remained open problems until very recently. Other related questions are also discussed, such as the relationship between rectifiability and the existence of principal values for the Cauchy transforms and other singular integrals. The book is largely self-contained and should be accessible for graduate students in analysis, as well as a valuable resource for researchers.
Book Synopsis Analytic Capacity, Rectifiability, Menger Curvature and Cauchy Integral by : Hervé M. Pajot
Download or read book Analytic Capacity, Rectifiability, Menger Curvature and Cauchy Integral written by Hervé M. Pajot and published by Springer. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a graduate course given by the author at Yale University this book deals with complex analysis (analytic capacity), geometric measure theory (rectifiable and uniformly rectifiable sets) and harmonic analysis (boundedness of singular integral operators on Ahlfors-regular sets). In particular, these notes contain a description of Peter Jones' geometric traveling salesman theorem, the proof of the equivalence between uniform rectifiability and boundedness of the Cauchy operator on Ahlfors-regular sets, the complete proofs of the Denjoy conjecture and the Vitushkin conjecture (for the latter, only the Ahlfors-regular case) and a discussion of X. Tolsa's solution of the Painlevé problem.

Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations by : Alberto P. Calderón
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations written by Alberto P. Calderón and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alberto P. Calderón (1920-1998) was one of this century's leading mathematical analysts. His contributions, characterized by great originality and depth, have changed the way researchers approach and think about everything from harmonic analysis to partial differential equations and from signal processing to tomography. In addition, he helped define the "Chicago school" of analysis, which remains influential to this day. In 1996, more than 300 mathematicians from around the world gathered in Chicago for a conference on harmonic analysis and partial differential equations held in Calderón's honor. This volume originated in papers given there and presents timely syntheses of several major fields of mathematics as well as original research articles contributed by some of the finest scholars working in these areas. An important addition to the literature, this book is essential reading for researchers in these and other related fields.

Book Synopsis Classical and Multilinear Harmonic Analysis: Volume 2 by : Camil Muscalu
Download or read book Classical and Multilinear Harmonic Analysis: Volume 2 written by Camil Muscalu and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-01-31 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume text in harmonic analysis introduces a wealth of analytical results and techniques. It is largely self-contained and useful to graduates and researchers in pure and applied analysis. Numerous exercises and problems make the text suitable for self-study and the classroom alike. The first volume starts with classical one-dimensional topics: Fourier series; harmonic functions; Hilbert transform. Then the higher-dimensional Calderón–Zygmund and Littlewood–Paley theories are developed. Probabilistic methods and their applications are discussed, as are applications of harmonic analysis to partial differential equations. The volume concludes with an introduction to the Weyl calculus. The second volume goes beyond the classical to the highly contemporary and focuses on multilinear aspects of harmonic analysis: the bilinear Hilbert transform; Coifman–Meyer theory; Carleson's resolution of the Lusin conjecture; Calderón's commutators and the Cauchy integral on Lipschitz curves. The material in this volume has not previously appeared together in book form.
Book Synopsis Modern Fourier Analysis by : Loukas Grafakos
Download or read book Modern Fourier Analysis written by Loukas Grafakos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-04-28 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The great response to the publication of the book Classical and Modern Fourier Analysishasbeenverygratifying.IamdelightedthatSpringerhasofferedtopublish the second edition of this book in two volumes: Classical Fourier Analysis, 2nd Edition, and Modern Fourier Analysis, 2nd Edition. These volumes are mainly addressed to graduate students who wish to study Fourier analysis. This second volume is intended to serve as a text for a seco- semester course in the subject. It is designed to be a continuation of the rst v- ume. Chapters 1–5 in the rst volume contain Lebesgue spaces, Lorentz spaces and interpolation, maximal functions, Fourier transforms and distributions, an introd- tion to Fourier analysis on the n-torus, singular integrals of convolution type, and Littlewood–Paley theory. Armed with the knowledgeof this material, in this volume, the reader encounters more advanced topics in Fourier analysis whose development has led to important theorems. These theorems are proved in great detail and their proofs are organized to present the ow of ideas. The exercises at the end of each section enrich the material of the corresponding section and provide an opportunity to develop ad- tional intuition and deeper comprehension. The historical notes in each chapter are intended to provide an account of past research but also to suggest directions for further investigation. The auxiliary results referred to the appendix can be located in the rst volume.
