Book Synopsis Absolute Predestination by : Jerome Zanchius
Download or read book Absolute Predestination written by Jerome Zanchius and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers,. This book was released on 2001-11 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In whom we also have been chosen to an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of the One working all things according to the counsel of His will" (Ephesians 1:11) Zanchius (1516-1590) created his age-enduring classic in response to the challenges of those who persisted in charging God with being the Author of sin because He says in the Scriptures that He predestinated all things that come to pass. His answer is irrefutable. The first forty-two pages describes God as He is revealed in His holy Word. He is all-wise and all-powerful. He is perfect and unchangeable. He, being by Himself alone in eternity, determined to create a universe, and to people that universe with being of His own choice. He saw in His mind the entire course of events, and the persons who would act out these events, and having all things completely settled in His mind beforehand, He decreed all things that were to occur. The distinctions thus having been established in His own mind, He at one time, in one act of His will, predestinated all things "according to the counsel of His will." The author then takes up the subject of predestination. The word means to 'deliberate beforehand with ones' self how one shall act; and in consequence of such deliberation to constitute, fore-ordain, and predetermine where and when, how and by whom anything shall be done, and to what end it shall be done. Who else but God is able to both conceive and order all the happenings in time and eternity? This book is not only closely reasoned, but it is backed and proven by Scripture throughout. It is made abundantly clear that men may not absolve themselves of evil because of God=s eternal predestination of allthings. God leaves all men with a freedom to will, but in their total depravity all choose to will only what is evil in the eyes of God. For, "God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one. But each one is tempted by his own lusts, having been drawn out and havin

Book excerpt: First published in 1941, this is the Fifth Edition of Loraine Boettner’s 1932 publication The Reformed Doctrine of Predestination and is widely considered to be one of the 20th-century’s most reasoned explanations of the sovereignty of God and the Reformed interpretation of salvation. “THE purpose of this book is not to set forth a new system of theological thought, but to give a restatement to that great system which is known as the Reformed Faith or Calvinism, and to show that this is beyond all doubt the teaching of the Bible and of reason.”—Loraine Boettner, Introduction “Whoever really wants to know what Calvinism teaches cannot do better than to read this book from cover to cover”.—United Presbyterian magazine

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Reformed doctrine of predestination has been coming under fire a lot in recent days especially among open theists that question God's sovereignty in the face of evil. Although this book was written many years ago, it still helps to shed light on the true roots of the doctrine and the philosophical and Biblical answers it offers. The doctrine deserves a proper treatment and this work is an attempt at that justification and a look at its history.

Book Synopsis Predestination - A Survey of Scripture by : John Michael Hauck
Download or read book Predestination - A Survey of Scripture written by John Michael Hauck and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-12-10 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The topic of predestination has challenged Christians for hundreds of years. Consider the exchanges between Desiderius Erasmus and Martin Luther in the 15th century and between John Wesley and George Whitefield in the 18th century. At the risk of oversimplifying today's landscape, I will refer to those who believe man has a free will to accept or reject the Gospel of Christ through faith as Arminians, and I will refer to those who believe man's will and salvation are in the hands of God as Calvinists. Another way to state this is that Arminians believe in conditional election and Calvinists believe in unconditional election. This book surveys Scripture relating to predestination from the Arminian and Calvinist viewpoints. The argument is made that the Calvinist position is the Scriptural one.

Book Synopsis The Mystery of Predestination by : John Salza
Download or read book The Mystery of Predestination written by John Salza and published by TAN Books. This book was released on 2010-04-09 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can an all-loving God choose some people for eternal salvation while permitting others to fall away? Doesn't God offer the same amount of saving grace to everyone? Isn't predestination a Protestant doctrine? In The Mystery of Predestination , author and apologist John Salza, seeks to answer these questions, and others, about that most ineffable and confounding of Christian beliefs: that God chooses to infallibly direct certain people to salvation but not others. Drawing deeply upon Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, Salza says that a proper Catholic understanding of the doctrine of predestination is interconnected with two other central mysteries: the ability of mankind to choose freely to accept or reject God's saving grace, and the inability of mankind to accept God's grace without first being moved by His grace from within. By holding these truths always before us we can see how God may predestine His elect to heaven but never desire that anyone go to hell. We can also achieve a new clarity and depth of insight into a profound Christian truth: God is the primary mover in salvation. It is He who chooses, seeks, and saves us. Meticulously researched and written in a scholarly yet accessible style, The Mystery of Predestination is perfect for the serious Catholic who is confused by Bible verses or Magisterial statements in favor of predestination (and never hears about it in Sunday sermons), or who wants to defend Catholic truth against Calvinist error, and is seeking clear, traditional, and Thomistic answers. Or, indeed, for any thoughtful Christian who wants to come to terms with what the Bible teaches about the fundamental truths of our salvation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Biblical Doctrine of Election and Predestination: The Author is a USAF retired systems engineer turned Baptist Preacher who brings a fresh Biblical look at our systematic theology. His Master of Science degree in Engineering enlivens an analytical view of the doctrine of election and predestination. You will be amazed at how much Christian doctrine departs from the Bible and leans on Augustinian Theology and Calvin's Reformed Theology. We need to get back to sound Bible teachings with this doctrine. This treatise will move one in that direction.
Book Synopsis The Case for Election The Original Doctrine of Predestination, Presented by the Apostles by : Marc A. Carr
Download or read book The Case for Election The Original Doctrine of Predestination, Presented by the Apostles written by Marc A. Carr and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about how the Christian actually became a Christian. The 'process' is Marc's focus. How does God take the Chosen from the womb to salvation then into His eternal bosom? The classic position of Election and Predestination is made plain; forcing the reader to address the alternative, Man's free-will choice to be 'saved' or not. Can these two positions be reconciled? No, not really. The Lord assured Moses: I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion, Exodus 33:19. Moses was to experience a limited 'theophany, ' what the Greek Orthodox call a 'theosis, ' the physical presence of God, Himself, equivalent to - 'My goodness.' It is God's very 'Goodness' the New Testament saint knows to be the indwelt Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of Christ Jesus, Himself, God Himself. Paul cites the Exodus passage in Romans to demonstrate to the body of Christ that God by His sovereignty elected each believer to be His own, that we did not elect ourselves to be God's. And one Saint asked, "Why write about such things that have been covered for hundreds of years?" True. But more recently much about God's sovereignty has been covered over. Christian modernity has adapted as the author once did to a new Evangelicalism. Whereby, some first truths have been buried so deep that when they are unearthed they appear to be a foreign theology to the present generation of Evangelical believers. Marc affords the saint the information necessary to actually understand how he or she actually got saved! Marc presently lives in Orlando Florida where he pastors Blessed Fellowship Orlando, an outreach ministry of Orlando Prayer and Worship Center, Senior Pastor Roy Futch.

Book Synopsis Predestination by : Peter J. Thuesen
Download or read book Predestination written by Peter J. Thuesen and published by OUP USA. This book was released on 2009-07-06 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Predestination--the idea that God foreordains one's eternal destiny--is one of the most fascinating and controversial doctrines in Christianity. In this groundbreaking history, the first of its kind, Peter Thuesen shows that the debate over predestination is inseparable from other central Christian beliefs and practices--the efficacy of the sacraments, the existence of purgatory and hell, the extent of God's providential involvement in human affairs--and has fueled theological conflicts across denominations for centuries. The book ranges from New England Puritans to today's megachurches.
