Patients et méthodes : étude rétrospective, unicentrique de janvier 2012 à décembre 2013, des patients présentant une sinusite maxillaire chronique opérée. Résultats : 133 patients ont été inclus et répartis en trois groupes, 39,8% des patients dans le groupe sinusite maxillaire d’origine dentaire (SMD), 33,8% dans le groupe balle fongique (BF), 26,3% dans le groupe sinusite maxillaire d’origine rhinogène (SMR). L’âge moyen était de 52,8 ans, le sex-ratio de 0,58 en faveur des femmes. Il n’y avait pas de différence significative de présentations clinique et radiologique entre les groupes SMD et SMR. Les patients bénéficiaient d’une consultation d’odontologie dans 46,6% des cas. Les causes dentaires étaient infectieuses (83,1%) et iatrogènes (16,9%). Le traitement dentaire était principalement per opératoire (67,4%) et consistait majoritairement en une avulsion dentaire (79,5%). Les dents les plus fréquemment atteintes étaient la première molaire (49%), la deuxième molaire (26%) et la troisième molaire (10%). Les bactéries responsables étaient Streptococcus constellatus, les espèces du genre Prevotella oralis et Haemophilus. Les patients étaient guéris dans 95,1% des cas. Conclusion : les SMD représentaient 39,8% des sinusites maxillaires chroniques opérées. Leur présentation clinique et paraclinique était aspécifique rendant le diagnostic difficile. La collaboration entre le spécialiste ORL et l’odontologue est indispensable à leur diagnostic et à leur prise en charge.
