Foram comparados os teores de P2O5 assimilavel de solos adubados com o fosfato de Trauira, natural e calcinado, apos dois anos de cultivo consecutivo de arroz, em potes de Mitscherlich, O fosforo assimilavel dos solos dos potes foi determinado por tres metodos distintos, sendo um quimico, o de Truog, e dois biologicos, o do Aspergillus niger e o do Cunninghamella. A concordancia dos resultados obtidos pelos tres metodos serviu para confirmar o valor do metodo de Truog, adotado regularmente na Seccao de Fertilidade do Solo, e contra o qual poderiam ser levantados objecoes, devido o seu empirismo. Os teores de P2O5, assimilavel encontrados nos solos, apos dois anos a incorporacao dos fosfatos e duas culturas de arroz, mostraram sempre a nitida vantagem do fosfato calcinado sobre o natural, em todas as doses usadas e em todas as condicoes de pH com que trabalhamos, o que se pode apreciar num conjunto de Quadros e Graficos anexos ao presente trabalho. Observou-se, tambem, aumento da solubilidade do fosfato calcinado paralelamente ao crescimento das doses de cal empregadas. O fosfato calcinado, apos sua incorporacao ao solo parece sofrer uma maior solubilizacao.
