Book excerpt: Personnel selection is an important key for the success of human resource management in organizations. The main challenge faces organization is to determine the most proper candidates. To match organization requirements, the decision-makers do their best to achieve the most appropriate solutions. The process of choosing between candidates is a very complex and confused task. The environment of decision making is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) of various and conflicting criteria and alternatives in addition to the environmental conditions of uncertainty and incomplete information.

In the construction of subways, an appropriate scheme is helpful to save cost and ensure the quality of the project. This paper attaches great importance to present a multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) method to deal with selecting an appropriate construction scheme for subways. The process of selecting an appropriate construction scheme for subways is complex because it includes a great deal of fuzzy and uncertain information which can be presented by multi-valued neutrosophic numbers (MVNNs). In addition, in order to handle the interaction of inputs, an improved generalized multi-valued neutrosophic weighted Heronian mean (IGMVNWHM) operator is introduced. Subsequently, a new distance measure between two MVNNs is defined for deriving the objective criteria weights.

Book excerpt: Blockchain technology (BT) has become popular in the firms in the present time, however, implementation of BT includes several risk factors from various points of view. Some of these risks can be serious for the processes of firms. These risks should be cautiously recognized and analyzed to reduce the negative impacts of them. Assessment of the risks can be recognized as a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. In this work, the risks that will occur when implementing BT are assessed by using MCDM methodology built on Single Valued Neutrosophic Sets (SVNSs), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Decision Making and Trial Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) methods.

Book excerpt: This paper introduces the concept of saturated refined neutrosophic sets and extends the same to the special kinds of neutrosophic sets. The proposed concept is applied in decision making on Teacher’s adaptation to cybergogy. The decision making environment is characterized by different types of teachers, online teaching skills and various training methods. Fuzzy relation is used to match the most suitable method to the different kinds of teachers with the intervention of saturated interval valued neutrosophic refined oversets, offsets and undersets. The results obtained by applying the notion of saturated refined sets using various distance measures represent the effect of training methods on teacher’s adaptation to learner-centred teaching methods, which certainly give space to gain many insights on the relationship between quality of training and teacher’s adaptation rate. The proposed concept has wide scope and few limitations.

We need to transfer materials from production centers to consumption centers to secure the areas’ need for the transported material or allocate machines or people to do a specific job at the lowest cost, or in the shortest time. We know that the cost factors Time is one of the most important factors that decision-makers care about because it plays an “important” role in many of the practical and scientific issues that we face in our daily lives, and we need careful study to enable us to avoid losses. For this, the linear programming method was used, which is one of the research methods. Processes, where the problem data is converted into a linear mathematical model for which the optimal solution achieves the desired goal. Since these models are linear models, we can solve them using the direct simplex method and its modifications, but the specificity that these models enjoy has enabled scholars and researchers to find special methods that help us in obtaining the optimal solution. Whatever the method used, the goal is to determine the number of units transferred from any material from production centers to consumption centers, or to allocate a machine or person to do a job so that the cost or time is as short as possible. These issues were addressed according to classical logic, but the ideal solution was a specific value appropriate to the conditions in which the data was collected and does not take into account the changes that may occur in the work environment. In order to obtain results that are more accurate and enjoy a margin of freedom, we present in this book a study of transport issues and neutrosophic allocation issues and some methods for solving them. By neutrosophic issues we mean These are the problems in which the data are neutrosophic values, i.e. the required quantities and the available quantities.

Book excerpt: In this paper, we propose a new hybrid neutrosophic multi criteria decision making (MCDM) framework that employs a collection of neutrosophic analytical network process (ANP), and order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) under bipolar neutrosophic numbers. The MCDM framework is applied for chief executive officer (CEO) selection in a case study at the Elsewedy Electric Group, Egypt. The proposed approach allows us to assemble individual evaluations of the decision makers and therefore perform accurate personnel selection. The outcomes of the proposed method are compared with those of the related works such as weight sum model (WSM), weight product model (WPM), analytical hierarchy process (AHP), multi-objective optimization based on simple ratio analysis (MOORA) and ANP methods to prove and validate the results.

Book excerpt: The investigation for new innovative solutions to reduce transport pollution is a priority for the European Union (EU). This study includes energy and a sustainable environment, as well as transport, logistics, and information and communication technologies. Energy ecological parameters of internal combustion depend on many factors: fuel, the fuel injection time, engine torque, etc. The engine’s energy ecological parameters were studied by changing engine torques, using different fuels, and changing the start of the fuel injection time. The selection of the optimum parameters is a complex problem. Multicriteria decision-making methods (MCDM) present powerful and flexible techniques for the solution of many sustainability problems. The article presents a new way of tackling transport pollution. The analysis of the energy ecological parameters of the experimental internal combustion engine is performed using the neutrosophic multi-objective optimization by a ratio analysis plus the full multiplicative form (MULTIMOORA) and step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) methods. The application of MCDM methods provides us with the opportunity to establish the best alternatives which reflect the best energy ecological parameters of the internal combustion engine.

Book excerpt: Neutrosophic sets have been recognized as an effective approach in solving complex decision-making (DM) problems, mainly when such problems are related to uncertainties, as published in numerous articles thus far. The use of the three membership functions that can be used to express accuracy, inaccuracy, and indeterminacy during the evaluation of alternatives in multiple-criteria DM can be said to be a significant advantage of these sets. By utilizing these membership functions, neutrosophic sets provide an efficient and flexible approach to the evaluation of alternatives, even if DM problems are related to uncertainty and predictions.

This paper introduces the SPP from a source node to a destination node on a neutrosophic graph in which a positive neutrosophic number is assigned to each edge as its edge cost. We define this problem as neutrosophic shortest path problem (NSSPP). A simple algorithm is also introduced to solve the NSSPP. The proposed algorithm finds the neutrosophic shortest path (NSSP) and its corresponding neutrosophic shortest path length (NSSPL) between source node and destination node.

This book was released on with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increasing global concerns toward environmental protection and sustainable development, green supply chain management (GSCM) has drawn much attention from academicians and practitioners. Selecting an optimal green supplier is a critical part of GSCM, which can be viewed as a kind of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. To derive the best result, large group of decision makers are often involved in the green supplier selection nowadays. Besides, decision makers tend to express their evaluations utilizing uncertain linguistic terms due to the vagueness of human thinking. Hence, this paper aims to propose a hybrid MCDM approach for green supplier selection within the large group setting. More concretely, interval-valued intuitionistic uncertain linguistic sets (IVIULSs) are applied for assessing the performance of green suppliers concerning each criterion. Ant colony algorithm is utilized to cluster decision makers into several subgroups. The linear programming technique for multidimensional analysis of preference (LINMAP) is adopted for the determination of the optimal weights of criteria objectively. Finally, an extended MULTIMOORA approach is utilized to generate the ranking of alternative suppliers. The practicality and usefulness of the developed large group green supplier selection framework is illustrated using an empirical example of a real estate company.
