Book excerpt: Women with unmet need for family planning are those who are fecund but are not using any method of contraception, not wanting any more children, or wanting to delay the next pregnancy. This notion points to the gap between women?s reproductive intentions and their contraceptive behavior. The need for contraception remains too high. This circumstance is made worse by both a growing population and a shortage of family planning services. It is important that family planning is widely available and easily accessible. This book is intended as an aid to substance that all health workers interested in becoming more effective practitioners will consult on many occasions during their clinical practice. It provides views that the readers can test their experiences against. It presents sound and clear advice on some of the most practical guidance applicable to family planning.

Book Synopsis Female Education and Family Planning by : Sreytouch Vong
Download or read book Female Education and Family Planning written by Sreytouch Vong and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the International Conference on Population and Development in 1994, family planning has been prioritized in strategic plan in Cambodia. Though the contraceptive prevalence rate has increased for the last several years, it is still the lowest among Sub-Mekong Region countries. The significance of this book, therefore, aims to discuss two important dimensions of KAP (1) the educational background of women and knowledge of contraceptives and (2) the knowledge of contraceptive and its practice. The analysis shows that the female education is correlated with knowledge of family planning. However, the knowledge of family planning is less likely to be correlated with the practice. The knowledge of family planning would not be the only factor to encourage the practices. This book should help shed some light on the family planning perspective that female education contributes to the development of women s autonomy in any situation, for example, knowledge of family planning and life skills. Lots of macro level studies supported that educated women have better knowledge, skill and social status. Therefore, female education is a factor to be considered in family planning policies.
