Book Synopsis Turbulent Boundary-layer Temperature Recovery Factors in Two-dimensional Supersonic Flow by : Maurice Tucker
Download or read book Turbulent Boundary-layer Temperature Recovery Factors in Two-dimensional Supersonic Flow written by Maurice Tucker and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical method is presented for obtaining turbulent temperature recovery factors for a thermally insulated surface in supersonic flow. The method is an extension of Squire's analysis for incompressible flow. The boundary layer velocity profile is represented by a power law and a similarity is postulated for squared-velocity the static-temperature-difference profiles.

Book Synopsis Charts for Estimating Rotor-blade Flapping Motion of High-performance Helicopters by : Robert J. Tapscott
Download or read book Charts for Estimating Rotor-blade Flapping Motion of High-performance Helicopters written by Robert J. Tapscott and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theoretically derived charts showing steady-state and first- and second-harmonic flapping coefficients are presented for helicopter rotors having hinged rectangular blades with a linear twist of 0, -8, and -16 degrees. The charts, showing the rotor flapping coefficients for combinations of inflow ratio and blade pitch angle, are presented for tip-speed ratios ranging from 0.05 to 0.50.
Book Synopsis Examination of the Existing Data on the Heat Transfer of Turbulent Boundary Layers at Supersonic Speeds from the Point of View of Reynolds Analogy by : Alvin Seiff
Download or read book Examination of the Existing Data on the Heat Transfer of Turbulent Boundary Layers at Supersonic Speeds from the Point of View of Reynolds Analogy written by Alvin Seiff and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 654 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat-transfer data from four wind-tunnel experiments and two free-flight experiments with turbulent boundary layers have been examined to see whether or not they are well represented by the Reynolds analogy or a modification thereof. The heat-transfer results are put into the form of dimensionless Stanton numbers based on fluid properties at the outer edge of the boundary layer and are compared with skin-friction coefficients for the same Mach numbers and wall to free-stream temperature ratios as obtained from an interpolation of the existing skin-friction data. The effective Reynolds number is taken to be the length Reynolds number measured from the effective turbulent origin, a position which differs importantly from the leading edge of the test surface in some cases.
Book Synopsis Progress in Aeronautical Sciences by : D. Küchemann
Download or read book Progress in Aeronautical Sciences written by D. Küchemann and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-13 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Aeronautical Sciences, Volume 10 provides information pertinent to the development in aeronautical sciences. This book discusses a variety of topics, including thermoelasticity, turbulent boundary, as well as the manufacturing methods, reliability, problem areas, and applications under development in fluidic systems. Organized into six chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the theoretical problems of elasticity. This text then discusses the state of research in the complex fields of turbulent boundary layers with fluid injections. Other chapters consider as well the problems of supersonic flow past wings and bodies. This book discusses as well the flow in hypersonic wakes in ionized gases. The reader is also introduced to the possible applications of the compressible turbulent boundary layer with fluid injection. The final chapter discusses the components used in fluidic systems, which are described with emphasis on their general system of operation and general properties. This book is a valuable resource for engineers.

Book Synopsis Effect of Oxygen Content of Furnace Atmosphere on Adherence of Vitreous Coatings on Iron by : A. G. Eubanks
Download or read book Effect of Oxygen Content of Furnace Atmosphere on Adherence of Vitreous Coatings on Iron written by A. G. Eubanks and published by . This book was released on 1955 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of vitreous coatings of the same basic composition, but with cobalt-oxide contents varying from O to 6.4 percent by weight, fired on ingot iron in atmospheres consisting of various oxygen-nitrogen mixtures. The effect of the oxygen content of the atmosphere on adherence was determined by subjecting each specimen to the American Society for Testing Materials adherence test, and the effect of interface roughness was estimated from examination of metallographic sections.

Book excerpt: At the stagnation point, the theory of Sibulkin, using the diameter and conditions behind the normal shock, was in good agreement with the experiment when the velocity graident at the stagnation opint appropriate to the free-stream Mach number was used.
Book Synopsis A Biharmonic Relaxation Method for Calculating Thermal Stress in Cooled Irregular Cylinders by : Arthur G. Holms
Download or read book A Biharmonic Relaxation Method for Calculating Thermal Stress in Cooled Irregular Cylinders written by Arthur G. Holms and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 700 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A numerical method was developed for calculating thermal stresses in irregular cylinders cooled by one or more internal passages. The use of relaxation methods and elementary methods of finite differences was found to give approximations to the correct values when compared with previously known solutions for concentric circular cylinders possessing symmetrical and asymmetrical temperature distributions.
