Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper demonstrates the current and future potential of finite potential of finite-difference methods for solving real rotor problems now rely largely on empiricism. The demonstration consists of a simple means of combining existing finite-difference, integral, and comprehensive loads codes to predict real transonic rotor flows. These computations are performed for hover and high-advance-ratio flight. Comparisons are made with experimental pressure data. Additional keywords: Helicopters; Equations of motion. (Author).

Book Synopsis New Results in Numerical and Experimental Fluid Mechanics IX by : Andreas Dillmann
Download or read book New Results in Numerical and Experimental Fluid Mechanics IX written by Andreas Dillmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-25 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents contributions to the 18th biannual symposium of the German Aerospace Aerodynamics Association (STAB). The individual chapters reflect ongoing research conducted by the STAB members in the field of numerical and experimental fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, mainly for (but not limited to) aerospace applications, and cover both nationally and EC-funded projects. By addressing a number of essential research subjects, together with their related physical and mathematics fundamentals, the book provides readers with a comprehensive overview of the current research work in the field, as well as its main challenges and new directions. Current work on e.g. high aspect-ratio and low aspect-ratio wings, bluff bodies, laminar flow control and transition, active flow control, hypersonic flows, aeroelasticity, aeroacoustics and biofluid mechanics is exhaustively discussed here.

Book Synopsis Modern Flexible Multi-Body Dynamics Modeling Methodology for Flapping Wing Vehicles by : Cornelia Altenbuchner
Download or read book Modern Flexible Multi-Body Dynamics Modeling Methodology for Flapping Wing Vehicles written by Cornelia Altenbuchner and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern Flexible Multi-Body Dynamics Modeling Methodology for Flapping Wing Vehicles presents research on the implementation of a flexible multi-body dynamic representation of a flapping wing ornithopter that considers aero-elasticity. This effort brings advances in the understanding of flapping wing flight physics and dynamics that ultimately leads to an improvement in the performance of such flight vehicles, thus reaching their high performance potential. In using this model, it is necessary to reduce body accelerations and forces of an ornithopter vehicle, as well as to improve the aerodynamic performance and enhance flight kinematics and forces which are the design optimization objectives. This book is a useful reference for postgraduates in mechanical engineering and related areas, as well as researchers in the field of multibody dynamics. Uses Lagrange equations of motion in terms of a generalized coordinate vector of the rigid and flexible bodies in order to model the flexible multi-body system Provides flight verification data and flight physics of highly flexible ornithoptic vehicles Includes an online companion site with files/codes used in application examples

Book Synopsis Whirl Flutter of Turboprop Aircraft Structures by : Jiří Čečrdle
Download or read book Whirl Flutter of Turboprop Aircraft Structures written by Jiří Čečrdle and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2015-01-27 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whirl flutter is the aeroelastic phenomenon caused by the coupling of aircraft propeller aerodynamic forces and the gyroscopic forces of the rotating masses (propeller, gas turbine engine rotor). It may occur on the turboprop, tilt-prop-rotor or rotorcraft aircraft structures. Whirl Flutter of Turboprop Aircraft Structures explores the whirl flutter phenomenon, including theoretical and practical as well as analytical and experimental aspects of the matter. The first introductory part gives a general overview regarding aeroelasticity, followed by the physical principle and the occurrence of whirl flutter in aerospace practice. The next section deals with experiment research including earlier activities performed, particularly from the sixties, as well as recent developments. Subsequent chapters discuss analytical methods such as basic and advanced linear models, and non-linear and CFD based methods. Remaining chapters summarize certification issues including regulation requirements, a description of possible certification approaches and several examples of aircraft certification from the aerospace practice. Finally, a database of relevant books and reports is provided. Provides complex information of turboprop aircraft whirl flutter phenomenon Presents both theoretical and practical (certification related) issues Presents experimental research as well as analytical models (basic and advanced) of matter Includes both early-performed works and recent developments Contains a listing of relevant books and reports
