Although the research enterprise is self-correcting, this self-regulation occasionally needs help. Over the years, research institutions, professional societies, and governments have established several protocols, codes of conduct, norms, and principles to enhance that trust in research institutions, funders, producers, publishers, and products. (Guidance Document GOOD ACADEMIC RESEARCH PRACTICES, September 2020, University Grants Commission- UGC) If the aim of a PhD is to develop the skills of a professional academic researcher, how should you go about it? Using the principles of skill development as a foundation, this book provides a unique approach to the most common challenges of PhD research, including: - getting to know the literature in your field - developing your research ideas - becoming a better academic writer - coping with the stress and unpredictability of research - publications and presentations - Writing, submitting and defending your thesis. This book ‘A Complete Guide to PhD Degree: A Hand Book for Research Scholars and their Supervisors’ in an Indian Context is an outcome of not just efforts from the authors, but contributions by many Research Scholars. We take this opportunity to thank all those who supported in publication of this book. Many research scholars have been kind enough to share their research works in form of Synopsis, Thesis, Summary, Video of PhD Open Defence & Power-point presentations, MCQs in google from etc, so that a larger section of the aspiring researchers can take a guideline in formulation of their own research work. This Book also contains useful QR codes for direct link to various folders and files on the drive for Sample Ph.D Thesis, Synopsis , Summary, Videos of Open Defence Exam, Google form MCQs for Entrance Test & Pre-PhD Course work Exam, PPT Presentation etc, Syllabi for UGC NET Paper-I, MHRDC- Pre-Phd Course Work & important websites related to PhD. First and the foremost we are thankful to Dr.B.B. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historically, it has been presumed that being an experienced researcher was enough in itself to guarantee effective supervision. This has always been a dubious presumption and it has become an untenable one in the light of global developments in the doctorate itself and in the candidate population which have transformed demands upon expectations of supervisors. This handbook will assist new and experienced supervisors to respond to these changes. Divided into six parts the book looks at the following issues: changing contexts of doctoral supervision recruiting, selecting and working with doctoral candidates supporting the research project supporting candidates of all nationalities and academic backgrounds supporting completion of projects and examination evaluation and dissemination of practice. A Handbook for Doctoral Supervisors focuses on the practical needs of supervisors, draws examples from a wide range of countries and uses self-interrogation as a means of encouraging readers to reflect upon their practice, making it an essential read for anyone involved in doctoral supervision.

His focus was on improving the practice of software development in Indian CS & IT academia. But he thought that it is such a vital part of the CS & IT field and that it is so poor in many parts of Indian CS & IT academia, that he referred to his efforts as Indian CS & IT academic reform activism. Other contributors to the blog have given their views on certain topics. Main work period has been from 2011 to 2014 with a little work later, off & on. The main author is no longer active in this area. This book is aimed at helping other activists involved in improving the practice of software development in Indian CS and IT academia to get the views of the blog in a convenient form. The book may also be of interest to similar activists in other countries. About the author: Main author Ravi S. Iyer is a Physics graduate from Ruia college, University of Bombay (Mumbai) who was industry trained and later self-taught in software development. He worked in the international software industry (US, Europe, Japan, South Korea, India etc.) developing systems as well as applications software (CS & IT) for over 18 years after which he retired from commercial work. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smart communications are the concept in which smart appliances and devices are integrated into an application that runs in a smart hand-held device. The residents of a smart home can have complete control over their home’s electronic gadgets using wireless communications. These technologies can help people control gadgets in the home/office remotely and often simultaneously, which increases convenience and reduces time spent on these tasks. However, problems can arise in the security systems associated with these smart devices; security may be compromised when there are loopholes or human mistakes. When security credentials are lost, overall security can also be lost. This is because smart technology is made up of plenty of devices that are integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) technology and the cloud. This environment can introduce many security issues, as discussed in this text. Blockchain is a promising technology that operates in a decentralized environment to protect devices and the data collected by devices from security and privacy issues by using wireless communication technology. Blockchain-enabled IoT can be used to achieve end-to-end security. Blockchain technology is already used in wireless sensor/communication networks to estimate and predict house data and civil structures. IoT-integrated innovative applications like smart homes present unique security and privacy challenges. Scalability is the main problem as the current centralized IoT platforms have message routing mechanisms that create a bottleneck in scaling up too many devices used in IoT. As many devices are participating in generating data, such a setup may also be subjected to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Lack of data standards is another cause of concern as it leads to interoperability problems. Blockchain technology for IoT and wireless communications offers a promising solution for smart devices. These technologies can provide end-to-end security and overcome the aforementioned problems. The usage of open-standard distributed IoT solutions can solve many problems that are associated with centralized approaches. Blockchain technology is nothing but a distributed ledger of transactions. It offers direct communication to connected devices. Such devices collect data, and all legitimate participants can access said data. Thus, decentralized blockchain networks can provide improved security for IoT-based solutions.
