Bonnie Andersen provides a practical collection of layman's definitions, inspirational thoughts, and probing perspectives meant to stimulate discussion and deepen one's hunger for the riches of God's Word. The book draws from the insights of well-known Bible teachers, as well as Bonnie's personal collection of Bible study and Sunday School notes, devotionals, ministry newsletters, and articles from Christian magazines. Christianeeze for Churchgoers is user-friendly and the contents are presented in a warm and personal style. This is a wonderful gift book for any student of the Bible, and a handy tool to support a classroom setting. This is not meant to be the final source for understanding Bible words, but rather to be a good start for basic understanding and a catalyst to learn more. Author Bio: Bonnie and her husband Roy live in Mechanicsville, Virginia, and will soon be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They are the parents of four married children and the proud grandparents of nine energetic grandchildren, ranging in age from two to 21. Bonnie has been a lifelong student of the Bible. She has also used her talents for the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, VBS worker, church organist and pianist, and a member of church choirs and musical groups. She has been actively involved in each of the six communities in which she has resided with her family. While living in upstate New York, she served as a 4-H leader, piano teacher, founding member of the Newark Valley Historical Society, and docent for the Bement-Billings House museum. While living in Cheshire, Connecticut, she was one of three musicians who held worship services for several local nursing homes and also worked part-time. Bonnie presently serves as chaplain for the Scotchtown Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), and is an avid gardener whenever she is not busy with her children and grandchildren. keywords: Bible Reference, Bible Translation Of Terms, Biblical Terms, Bible Terms, Bible Vocabulary, Understand Bible, Christian Vocabulary, Christian Reference, Christian Words, Bible Tool

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until we get to heaven, we're all unfinished Christians. There are no "self-made" success stories in the spiritual life. No do-it-yourself kits for aspiring saints. That's why Living the Mysteries is ideal for a family member, friend, or fellow parishioner who was recently in the RCIA program and received the sacraments of initiation - baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist - at the Easter Vigil. That's why it's perfect for a lifelong Catholic, too. The early Church had a process in which a teacher guided seekers through stages of inquiry and purification, culminating in a final phase called "mystagogy" - MIST-a go-gee- "the revelation of the mysteries." The instruction the early Christians needed is what we all need, no matter when we were baptized, no matter how much theology we've studied. That's because God's mysteries are inexhaustible and, until we get to heaven, we're all unfinished Christians. Now eight of the early Church's greatest teachers can be your guides as Living the Mysteries presents the wisdom and insights of: St. Ambrose St. Augustine St. Basil St. Clement of Alexandria St. Cyril of Jerusalem St. Gregory of Nyssa St. John Chrysostom St. Leo the Great Designed as a devotional - and more - for the fifty days between Easter and Pentecost, Living the Mysteries is a rich spiritual resource valuable any time of the year. Each day features: A passage from the Church's great teachers that focuses on a relevant point of the mystical or moral life. A plan with practical applications for letting that reading inspire your prayer and actions throughout the day. You will treasure these timeless lessons on gaining eternal life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All churches like to think that theirs is the friendliest in town. But do visitors see it that way? Church consultant Gary McIntosh invites readers to take a look at their church through the eyes of visitors and potential visitors. His starting point, grounded in an understanding of God as a "welcomer," is that churches should see those who enter their doors as not merely visitors, but as guests, and themselves as gracious hosts. This practical book offers sound advice on assessing and improving the ways in which churches attract people, welcome them, do follow-up, and bring them into the church family. It also offers suggestions for making a welcoming attitude part of the very fabric of the local church.

How do we extend the church beyond its four walls and draw in people who are lost and hurting? How do we reach people who might never have come inside a church building? How do we reach people who might have never heard of the name "Jesus Christ?"There are many people who are spiritually lost and in pain. Therefore, as church leaders we must always ask ourselves, how can I be used by God as his agent to offer Christ to people who are hurting and lost?We must never become complacent with the number of people we see within the four walls of the church each Sunday. Rather, Jesus challenges us to rise up and have a passion to want to serve those within the community who are spiritually lost. The question, of course, is how? Within the pages of this book, Author Carlton Worthen teaches his 5 essential principles on how to promote church growth which are: -Dynamic and Engaging Thematic Worship-Giving As a Form of Worship-Technology to Serve the Present Age-Strategic Community Partnerships-Holistic MinistryReading this book will enable you to: -Develop engaging and transformative worship experiences for your congregants-Notice an increase in weekly giving-Expand the reach of your local ministry beyond your current zip codeIt is the hope of the author to not only help you 'To Serve the Present Age' through church growth and development, but also lead you to enjoy the journey along the way.Carlton currently serves as a Senior Pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is the Founder of Carlton Worthen Ministries, Inc. and Carlton Worthen Publishing, Inc. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Worship in local churches has changed dramatically over the past fifty years, not only in North America but in many places on every continent. Have these widespread and varying shifts left us with vague or even false impressions of what the weekly worship event is all about? Do followers of Jesus Christ grasp the importance of their role in worship? Do they know how to become fully engaged participants? Do they realize Jesus himself is our best guide and model for worship? Worship Like Jesus guides Christ-followers through the essential features of Christian worship, transforming the reader’s understanding and experience of worship. This leads people—even entire congregations—to experience worship in exciting and profound ways as never before. This type of worship also leads people into deeper and more committed discipleship. Imagine a community of fully engaged, deeply committed disciples! Revered author and scholar Constance Cherry offers this practical and foundational resource for ministry leaders and their worship communities. Each chapter follows the same helpful structure: Introduction Description of the chapter topic and its importance Discovery of Jesus’s own practice Deliberation or reflection on how Jesus’s model makes a difference Determination—readers consider how their worship will be shaped as a result of this chapter; includes questions for reflection Prayer At the end of each chapter, an exercise is suggested to help people take a practical step toward greater participation and engagement. A Leader Guide is included as an Appendix. This equips pastors, worship leaders and others to facilitate group study of the book. It is a powerful tool for transforming leadership teams and entire congregations.
