The Indian study focuses on the relationship between child labour and fertility in a village where jewelry-making is an important cottage industry. In rural Colombia, demographic and economic behaviour are compared in three different economic sectors. The Argentinian study investigates the demographic and economic characteristics of households belonging to different agricultural sectors of a relatively underdeveloped province. Finally, in Peru, demographic and economic behaviour in four rural areas, characterized by different levels of development, are compared.
