Book Synopsis Medical Waste Incineration and Pollution Prevention by : Alex E.S. Green
Download or read book Medical Waste Incineration and Pollution Prevention written by Alex E.S. Green and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The annual cost of medical care in the U niled States is rapidly approaching a trillion dollars. Without doubt, much of the rise in costs is due to our health industry's concentration on high technology remediation and risk avoidance measures. From recent public discussions it is becoming in creasingly evident that to contain the costs and at the same time extend the benefits of health care without national bankruptcy will necessitate much greater attention to preventative medicine. The total cost of waste disposal by our health industry is well over a billion dollars. It is rising rapidly as we increasingly rely on high technol ogy remediation measures. Here, too, in the opinion of the authors of this work, it would be prudent to give much greater attention to preventative approaches. Incineration technology has largely been developed for disposing mu nicipal solid waste (MSW) and hazardous waste (HW). As a result of the multibillion dollar funding for the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), most experts believe that pollution control is the key to minimizing toxic emissions from incinerators. This view is now beginning to take hold in medical waste (MW) incineration as well. However, the authors contributing to this book have concluded that precombustion measures can be most effective in reducing the toxic products of medical waste incineration.

This book was released on 2024-03-05 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Natural Gas: Formation, Processing, and Applications is a comprehensive eight-volume set of books that discusses in detail the theoretical basics and practical methods of various aspects of natural gas from exploration and extraction, to synthesizing, processing and purifying, producing valuable chemicals and energy. The volumes introduce transportation and storage challenges as well as hydrates formation, extraction, and prevention. Volume 4 titled Natural Gas Dehydration introduces in detail different natural gas dehydration methods. The book covers absorption with different solvents such as glycols, ionic liquids, and DES which is one of the important dehydration techniques, as well as natural gas dehydration with adsorption-based technologies utilizing various materials including zeolites, carbonaceous sorbents, metal oxides, etc. It discusses in detail membrane-based processes with various types (such as hollow-fiber, polymeric, zeolite membranes) and includes novel technologies for sweetening natural gas by using direct cooling and compression, supersonic technology and micro-reactors. - Introduces natural gas dehydration concepts and challenges - Describes various absorption and adsorption processes for natural gas dehydration - Discusses novel methods for natural gas dehydration including membrane and supersonic technologies
