Book excerpt: There are numerous risks to the sustainability and stability of Indonesia’s farming system, food production system, supply chains, and ecosystems. The evaluation aims to answer two essential questions: whether FAO is doing what is needed and whether it is making a difference. This evaluation recommends that FAO support the green and blue (land and sea) preparedness and adaptation plans, as well as early warning systems. The evaluation further recommends that FAO ramp up its support for a national decision support system that adopts a food systems approach to provide policymakers with the best analytical evidence and data available to guide new public policies and regulations. Many of the conclusions and recommendations call for policy and regulatory reform. The evaluation recommends that FAO work with Indonesia to establish innovative data management systems, new analysis methods, and analytical tools on agriculture including fisheries and forestry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do Euphoria, Normal People, Atlanta, Ramy, Vida, I May Destroy You, Stranger Things, and Lovecraft Country have in common? In the 2016-2020 time period they were created, these TV shows exemplified one (or more) of four noteworthy trends: authenticity, diversity, sexual candor, and retrospection. This is the first book to examine live action, fictional television shows produced within a five-year period through the lens of the trends that they epitomize. For each show, the following is discussed: the significance of the platform and the format; the intentions of the creators and showrunners; pertinent background information; similar shows and precedents; the storytelling approach; the cinematic form; and finally, how the show is emblematic of that particular trend. Since trends have the possibility of becoming part of the mainstream, they are important to identify as they emerge, especially for viewers who have a keen interest in narrative television shows.

This most recent collection supplements seven previous and successful volumes containing awards from the period 1974 to 2015. This collection is a practical reference tool, containing three types of useful indexes incorporating information from all three volumes: a consolidated analytical table, in both English and French, contains extensive cross-references based on the terminology used in awards and case notes; a chronological index lists the awards; a keyword index, also provided in both languages, allows the reader to locate the material of interest quickly and easily. In addition to providing a wealth of information in a highly accessible manner, this book includes case notes end expert commentaries on the awards. This publication is an indispensable reference work for anyone interested in international arbitration and in the reasoning of international arbitrators on the interpretation and application of contractual clauses, international conventions, and the law of international trade. It is invaluable to both scholars and practitioners involved in the drafting and negotiation of international commercial contracts and the resolution of international commercial disputes.

This book was released on 2020-10-06 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Armenia’s agriculture represents the main economic source in rural areas and significantly contributes to the country’s GDP, employing about 30 percent of the working population. Aligned with Armenia’s national development priorities, FAO's programme has been well aligned with national priorities focusing on provision of highly specialized technical expertise towards the development of national policies, institutions, and also offering innovative approaches and solutions. The evaluation concluded that FAO should continue offering its advisory services and technical support in thematic areas within its competence, focusing on longer term sustainability of results achieved and taking into consideration vulnerability of food and agriculture systems to climate change. The Country Office needs to expand its support in areas where FAO has clear comparative advantages, and respond to the new demands in the context of the upcoming United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Guidance (UNSDCF) for the period 2021-2025.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Democrats' decision to nominate Joe Biden for 2020 was hardly a fluke but rather a strategic choice by a party that had elevated electability above all other concerns. In Learning from Loss, one of the nation's leading political analysts offers unique insight into the Democratic Party at a moment of uncertainty. Between 2017 and 2020, Seth Masket spoke with Democratic Party activists and followed the behavior of party leaders and donors to learn how the party was interpreting the 2016 election and thinking about a nominee for 2020. Masket traces the persistence of party factions and shows how interpretations of 2016 shaped strategic choices for 2020. Although diverse narratives emerged to explain defeat in 2016 - ranging from a focus on 'identity politics' to concerns about Clinton as a flawed candidate - these narratives collectively cleared the path for Biden.

Book excerpt: Liaigre invites readers on a world tour of its newest generation of interiors exemplifying the renowned French brand's masterful savoir-faire, pared-back elegance, and renewed vigor. In an exquisite volume, the illustrious French interiors house Liaigre takes us inside its latest cosmopolitan residences. For over thirty years Liaigre has solidified its signature excellent craftsmanship, precise aesthetic, and luxurious simplicity with a subtle eye for details; the house embodies elegant understatement, reminiscent of the most refined art de vivre. Following the departure of its visionary founder in 2016, Liaigre has been infused with new energy. Throughout the book's pages, readers will delve into character-filled interiors that speak to its vision for the future. A Japanese house overlooking hot thermal springs; a modernist palace in New Delhi (Liaigre's first project in India); a delicate renovation of a traditional local villa in St. Moritz; an update to a glamorous Parisian villa from the early twentieth century; and a modern reinterpretation of a Bavarian-style mansion in Munich--all of these projects and more represent manifestos of the "Liaigre style." Furthermore, a visual immersion into Liaigre's Paris studio offers a behindthe-scenes glimpse into the house's creative know-how. Featuring exceptional images from specially commissioned photoshoots and an engaging essay by French art historian Françoise-Claire Prodhon, this tome will delight new and old fans of Liaigre's designs as well as interiors aficionados everywhere.
