Book excerpt: Nowadays, the manufacturing of electrical machines based on electrical steel laminations has been well established worldwide. Compared with the electrical steel, the soft magnetic composites (SMC) shows magnetic isotropy and lower eddy current losses. Thus, it becomes an important impulse promoting the development of new topologies of electrical machine. The application of SMC in the electrical traction machine for hybrid electrical vehicle or electrical vehicle has been researched in the work.

Book Synopsis Introduction to the Electronic Properties of Materials by : David C. Jiles
Download or read book Introduction to the Electronic Properties of Materials written by David C. Jiles and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-21 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electronic materials provide the basis for many high tech industries that have changed rapidly in recent years. In this fully revised and updated second edition, the author discusses the range of available materials and their technological applications. Introduction to the Electronic Properties of Materials, 2nd Edition presents the principles of the behavior of electrons in materials and develops a basic understanding with minimal technical detail. Broadly based, it touches on all of the key issues in the field and offers a multidisciplinary approach spanning physics, electrical engineering, and materials science. It provides an understanding of the behavior of electrons within materials, how electrons determine the magnetic thermal, optical and electrical properties of materials, and how electronic properties are controlled for use in technological applications. Although some mathematics is essential in this area, the mathematics that is used is easy to follow and kept to an appropriate level for the reader. An excellent introductory text for undergraduate students, this book is a broad introduction to the topic and provides a careful balance of information that will be appropriate for physicists, materials scientists, and electrical engineers.

Book Synopsis Electrical Energy Efficiency by : Andreas Sumper
Download or read book Electrical Energy Efficiency written by Andreas Sumper and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-04-30 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The improvement of electrical energy efficiency is fast becoming one of the most essential areas of sustainability development, backed by political initiatives to control and reduce energy demand. Now a major topic in industry and the electrical engineering research community, engineers have started to focus on analysis, diagnosis and possible solutions. Owing to the complexity and cross-disciplinary nature of electrical energy efficiency issues, the optimal solution is often multi-faceted with a critical solutions evaluation component to ensure cost effectiveness. This single-source reference brings a practical focus to the subject of electrical energy efficiency, providing detailed theory and practical applications to enable engineers to find solutions for electroefficiency problems. It presents power supplier as well as electricity user perspectives and promotes routine implementation of good engineering practice. Key features include: a comprehensive overview of the different technologies involved in electroefficiency, outlining monitoring and control concepts and practical design techniques used in industrial applications; description of the current standards of electrical motors, with illustrative case studies showing how to achieve better design; up-to-date information on standarization, technologies, economic realities and energy efficiency indicators (the main types and international results); coverage on the quality and efficiency of distribution systems (the impact on distribution systems and loads, and the calculation of power losses in distribution lines and in power transformers). With invaluable practical advice, this book is suited to practicing electrical engineers, design engineers, installation designers, M&E designers, and economic engineers. It equips maintenance and energy managers, planners, and infrastructure managers with the necessary knowledge to properly evaluate the wealth of electrical energy efficiency solutions for large investments. This reference also provides interesting reading material for energy researchers, policy makers, consultants, postgraduate engineering students and final year undergraduate engineering students.

Book Synopsis Motor design for maximum material exploitation and magnetization procedure with in-line quality check for mass production by : Dinca, Christian

This book was released on 2017-03-09 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To reduce the amount of Rare-earth Elements in high efficient permanent magnet electric motors, the magnetic stray flux has to be reduced. Additonally, a temperature reduction inside the motor reduces the necessary amount of the so called Heavy Rare-earth Elements, which account for the bulk part of the magnet material costs. In this thesis a permanent magnet motor in wet rotor configuration for an automotive application is designed. It was shown that by simple thermal improvements of the electric insulation system the maximum temperature of the stator can be reduced. Extensive measurements on different combinations of insulation material of the stator and the development of a new thermal model for orthocyclic wound stators were performed. Due to the use of fiber cans eddy current losses could be eliminated and the stray flux minimized. In a second stage a magnetizing fixture was build up, which is able to magnetize the buried magnets inside the rotor. The rotor and the magnetizing fixture was developed, so that the magnets can be optimal magnetized. To check the quality of the magnets the magnetizing coil was developed in a way, such that the hysteresis curve of every single magnet during magnetization can be measured. Different magnets were tested and ways to calculate parasitics are given.
