The report is based on data received from 874 institutions representing all segments of higher education: research, doctoral, and comprehensive universities; baccalaureate colleges; specialized institutions; two-year colleges; and the administrative office of a system. Salary data for each group is listed by institutional classification, operating budget, enrollment group, and source of support (public/private). A profile of participating institutions is provided by classification, source of support, classification and source of support, system structure, operating budget, endowment, enrollment, employment, and geographical location. Appendices include a list of the participating institutions, the survey questionnaire used for the study, a glossary of terms used in the report, and the procedures for updating compensation information.
