Book Synopsis Chemistry and Significance of Condensed Tannins by : Richard W. Hemingway
Download or read book Chemistry and Significance of Condensed Tannins written by Richard W. Hemingway and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was developed from the proceedings of the first North American Tannin Conference held in Port. Angeles, Washington, August 1988. The objective of the conference was to bring together people with a common interest in condensed tannins and to promote interdisciplinary interactions that will lead to a better understanding of these important substances. Anot. her objective was the publicat. ion of this book because there has not been a monograph devoted to the chemistry and significance of tannins for several decades. The book is organized into sections dealing with the biosynthesis, structure, re actions, complexation with other biopolymers, biological significance, and use of tannins as specialty chemicals. The authors made a special attempt to focus on what we don't know as well as to provide a summary of what we do know in an effort to assist in planning future research. Our thanks go to the authors who so kindly contributed chapters and so pa tiently responded to our requests. We also thank Rylee Geboski and the Conference Assist. ance Staff, College of Forestry, Oregon State University, for their assistance in planning and conducting t. he conference, and Julia Wilson, Debbie Wolfe, Helen Coletka, and Nancy Greene of the Southern Forest Experiment Station, Pineville, Louisiana, who typed the chapt. ers. Linda Chalker-Scott was especially helpful in assisting us wit. h editing. Dick Hemingway is indebted t. o the staff of the Alexandria Forest.

Book Synopsis Sustainable Crop Disease Management using Natural Products by : Sangeetha Ganesan
Download or read book Sustainable Crop Disease Management using Natural Products written by Sangeetha Ganesan and published by CABI. This book was released on 2015-11-16 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alternative methods of disease control such as natural products and compounds derived from biological origins, provide an effective alternate to the use of chemical products or a means to minimize their use. It is imperative now to look for such sustainable crop disease management approaches, that include routine and alternative methods. Natural products for sustainable crop disease management is an effort in this direction, and deals with immediate concerns in the field of natural and alternative products for disease control, apart from using biocontrol organisms. This book presents up-to-date information on natural products and compounds derived from biological origins and thoroughly discusses their applicability, field use and prospects for adoption under different cropping conditions. This book also validates disease management strategies.
Book Synopsis Advances In Insect Control by : Nadine B Carozzi
Download or read book Advances In Insect Control written by Nadine B Carozzi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-03-19 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of plant genetic engineering has arisen from the laboratory and into the market place as a technology to provide farmers and consumers with improved crops. 1996 marks a turning point as the first genetically engineered crops to control agronomically important pests are registered for commercial sale. In most cases it has taken over a decade to develop commercially viable products. This book serves both as an update of current technologies that have been proven successful for engineering insect tolerant crops and an overview of new technologies that are being pursued for the development of new genetically engineered crops in the future. The book includes an introductory chapter on the world wide importance of insect problems in crops and the advantages of genetically engineered crops over traditional breeding; reviews insect control principles that are being develpoed for genetically engineered crops; and provides an overview of many new areas that wil lead to new insect control agents in the next decade.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The publication of Volume 7 of the International Treatise Series on Advances in Plant Physiology has been feasible - exclusively and unquestionably due to commendable contributions from World Scientists of distinction in explicit fields. within eight years, the treatise series has been instituted in the spirits and compassion of illustrious readers all through the world. The proficient International and National Co-ordinators have all along unified their views for the expediency of readers assisting them to speed up important research work in the field of Plant and Crop Physiology, Biochemistry & Plant Molecular Biology. in spite of handiness of quick accessibility of vast literature from internet, this treatise series in the field of life sciences has been realized over and above to be like a true guide, friend and philosopher, everlastingly enlightening the most hidden perceptible nerves of an individual worker, which is beyond the competence of mere web services. The volume 8 is absolutely another one of its kinds for incorporation of most timely and important worthy reviews of diverse objectives contributed by forty four well-informed, admirable and documented scientists/ stalwarts, of which twenty three participated from abroad. The original writing coming in bounteous journals of international repute covering new technologies and tools in plant science research have been pulled together in affirmative, prolific and supportive manner by specialists all over the globe. In this volume efforts have been made to fetch together twenty one indispensable review articles, duly evaluated by the respective Consulting Editors of international stature from India, U.K., U.S.A., Argentina, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Israel, and Morocco and rationally distributed in eight sections.
