Book Synopsis President Zachary Taylor by : Elbert B. Smith
Download or read book President Zachary Taylor written by Elbert B. Smith and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zachary Taylor (November 24, 1784 - July 9, 1850) was an American military leader and the twelfth President of the United States. Taylor had a 40-year military career in the U.S. Army, serving in the War of 1812, Black Hawk War, and Second Seminole War before achieving fame while leading U.S. troops to victory at several critical battles of the Mexican-American War. Taylor's short Presidency was shadowed by the issue then dominating all aspects of American national affairs - that of slavery. However, the immediate issue was the admission of New Mexico and California as states. Taylor confounded his Southern supporters, who had assumed that since the President owned slaves, he would support the pro-slavery position and refuse entry into the union to two states settled by Northerners and likely to be anti-slavery. Taylor recommended that the two territories develop their own constitutions and then request admission based on those constitutions. When Southern states threatened secession he warned them that he would use all his resources as commander-in- chief to preserve the union. He stated that if they seceded he would track them down like he had the Mexicans, and handle them in the same manner that he had deserters. Taylor's brief term in the White House also featured the still on-going question of balancing power between the Congress and the presidency.

Book Synopsis The Afterlife of Adam Smith by : William Farina
Download or read book The Afterlife of Adam Smith written by William Farina and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-08-13 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mark Twain once quipped that a "classic [is] something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read." This definition fits Adam Smith's timeless work The Wealth of Nations, published in 1776 on the eve of the American Revolution. For more than two centuries, partisans and pundits across the political spectrum have selectively quoted (or purported to quote) Smith's masterpiece of economic theory in support of legislative agendas and public policy. Smith himself would have been surprised at the near universal acceptance of his theories, especially given changes in the world economy since the 18th century. This book provides a close reading of his work, revealing a complex intellect schooled in the high moral ideals of classical philosophy, yet firmly grounded in the pragmatism of international trade and commerce.

This book was released on 2019-10-07 with total page 1495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This innovative encyclopedia explores the life and times of America's forty-five presidents—from the first administration to that of Donald Trump. Forty-five men have served as President of the United States since George Washington swore the oath of office in 1789 in New York City. Some have proved exceptional leaders, and others have not. Some have faced serious crises, both foreign and domestic. Franklin Roosevelt was elected to four terms, leading the country through a major economic depression and a world war, while one held the office for only a single month. Each, however, played a key role in the evolution of United States history. Each of their histories therefore remains a critical civics lesson to consider. This four-volume encyclopedia provides an expansive analysis of the life and times of each United States president in chronological order from George Washington to Donald Trump. Each chapter includes a timeline, a biographical sketch, a historical overview, and an analytical essay concerning the president and his presidency. Each also includes a substantial selection of related primary documents presenting important presidential speeches and correspondence. A suggested reading list for further study of each president rounds out each entry.

Book Synopsis Money for Power by : John P. Hunter III
Download or read book Money for Power written by John P. Hunter III and published by John P. Hunter III. This book was released on 2014-07-27 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: $ MONEY $ It is understandable that we all need money for survival purposes. This is fine and dandy; is acceptable in society but to purposely defraud other people, to get possession of money, is unacceptable no matter of any circumstance. Politicians seem to hoard onto this conception that money is their ‘GOD’. The more they posses, the more they have power to control. Politicians, drug cartels, gangs and let us not forget religion are aware of this fact. The richer you are in society, the better people will follow you, supposedly. The ‘Elite’ in all societies of the world are equally guilty of this crime, called murder on the unsuspecting citizens by depriving these citizens of certain ‘FREEDOMS’ or plainly swindling them out of their hard earned money, not included are the lazy, incompetent people, who devour the “Welfare System” dry, not even trying to better themselves. Murder is hidden by the non-compliance of doing the right thing as it happens, for prevention as well as protection. This is where this book illustrates certain areas in our American past, which contribute to the beginning of corruption. Corruption is a way of dishonest living in order to remain on top or even to gain the top position. Political separation of parties are a way of distracting the public’s focus of what all politicians are involved in, un-constitutional, biased, prejudice and let us begin the “Olympic Blame Game” of each party is guilty but not me, when in reality all are involved in a ‘False Flag” cover-up of camouflaged deception, to gain more wealth even if it includes a mass murder. You will be amazed about certain people involved in this book, which seemed honest but in reality are very wicked indeed. This book is the sequel to “AMERICA, The Sleeping Giants MUST Awake” which explains into depth ‘Barack Hussein Obama, the creator of ‘Obamanism’ and of his cronies at large.
